QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) I just hope the Sox players are all on board going forward and there are no hard feelings. I still think some of the players had a hand in this, but we will never know that for sure.

Headlines like this make the Sox look bad, even though they are a stretch on the truth: Yahoo Sports Retweeted Big League Stew @bigleaguestew 4m4 minutes ago White Sox told Adam LaRoche his son couldn't be in clubhouse http://dlvr.it/KpH1Rj

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Damn, there goes our chances at getting Harper for 400 million: Bryce Harper @Bharper3407 5m5 minutes ago Good for you Roche! Nothing like father and son in the clubhouse..It's a FAMILY game #FamilyFirst Do we know if his kid was in the Nationals clubhouse 100% of the time?

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) Ozzie @oguillenjr 1m1 minute ago @Ken_Rosenthal what a joke kids were around in 2005. Kids in club house are great. Excuses lol what ever still will win 80 games lol Ha. Least surprising tweet ever.

I really have no issue with either side of this. The White Sox have every right to make a rule against children if they feel it affects winning baseball games. If family is that important to LaRoche and he would rather walk away from the game and the money, then that's his business, he has every right to.

QUOTE (Coach @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 07:41 AM) LaRoche retiring is great news but I had an over/under on the number of K's. I guess that's gone now. I hope you took the under.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 08:14 PM) Feel comfortable saying Foxx wins. So happy. She's exactly what's needed. But Anita Alvarez jogs in the same neighborhoods that people get shot in! She is so personable! (

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) Anyone see Okazaki's bicycle kick goal yesterday? Leicester's just coming up with crazy ways to win. One of the guys I follow on Twitter was trying to compare Leicester winning the Premiership to an American "upset" championship and it's hard to compare. The Devil Rays were similar with how they beat the big money Red Sox & Yankees but they never won it all and the division was only 5 teams. Butler winning the basketball title could have matched it but winning a single elimination tournament is so much simpler than a full round robin like Leicester. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) I get 500 if Trump wins the nomination. That's back from last August. The truth comes out, that's why you support him so much!

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) Pretty sure Rasmussen with be the guy who sits once Kruger gets back, not Mashinter. Rasmussen is gonna sit as soon as Teravainen feels better.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) Rongey's on the Score right now, says he's hearing that LaRoche just doesn't want to play baseball anymore. This sounds about right and if that's the case I really hope he sticks to his decision. That's becoming very common in the NFL, but not in baseball at all. It's a surprising decision when you are passing up $13 million for 7 months of work, but I guess you can do that when you have already made $71 million on your career. For the Sox sake, it would have been nice if he made this decision in November, a la Calvin Johnson in football, but I can totally see him being on the fence, then a trip to spring training confirming your decision.

In the past few years I was certain that Rubio was gonna be the Republican Obama, a younger minority candidate that's slowly brought up the ranks and all but handed the nomination on a silver platter. I don't know how he f***ed it up but he did. After the Dems win this year, I wonder if he can re-establish himself in 2020.

Colleen Kane @ChiTribKane 3m3 minutes ago Adam LaRoche has told White Sox he plans to step away from baseball. Teammates asked him to sleep on it, but he's confident in decision. Colleen Kane @ChiTribKane 2m2 minutes ago Adam LaRoche said it's a personal issue. Out of respect for team, he will consider request before talking on subject in a couple of days.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) MLB @MLB 1h1 hour ago .@BlueJays slugger Edwin Encarnacion has been shut down for a week due to an oblique issue: http://atmlb.com/1SPKG5C That's never a good thing to hear, those just linger all season long
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) That is my point. If someone can figure out how the stuff between the ear works, they can make up more ground than any statistical study can. I think some coaches/front offices realize that more than others are better at trying to manage it. That's why I like Joe Maddon, he knows baseball, but I think he realizes how important the non-baseball stuff is and is good at keeping players happy. Phil Jackson was a great basketball mind, but his two best skills were keeping MJ from killing everybody and letting Dennis Rodman be crazy while still dominating on the court.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) He is referring to the team, not himself. He didn't fold. So that was a subtle shot calling out his teammates??? I assumed he was part of the "we".

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) The schedule this year for the NFC North is the complete opposite of last year. Packers toughest non division road opponent is probably the Redskins. Last year they played the two super bowl teams on the road back to back. I know the league can change drastically from year to year, but I would have to imagine the AFC South is the easiest matchup of the 4 AFC divisions.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) Better leadership in the clubhouse I'd expect an in-your-face guy like Eaton to be one of those leaders, not to be on the guys that needs a pat on the back when they lose a couple games.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) Vote for the one of the two who isn't going to drop out tomorrow morning after losing his home state today. I see what you did there.

So do I vote for the candidate with a 0.1% chance of beating Drumpf and Cruz? Or do I vote for the guy I like better but has a 0.000001% chance? Tough decision.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) The Hawks take a nap this time every year. They've lost at least 3 of 4 in four consecutive Marchs. The last 3 seasons still worked out pretty well.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 08:21 AM) Love this comment by Eaton in the article: ‘To be honest with you, we just panicked. We had this huge group of talent, guys who had done tremendous things year after year, and when we got swept by Kansas City that first series (outscored 27-7 the first round games), it just played in our mind. “We never did recover.’’ That's pretty scary to me. What's to stop him from folding at the first sign of adversity again?

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 05:35 PM) It's just really nice to have faith in the people running the organization. They have a plan and they're executing, it doesn't feel like the rudderless ship of previous administration(s). Between the Blackhawks and Cubs, and now the Bears and Illinois football, it's weird to see so much vision and reason for optimism in the local front offices. (Hope to add White Sox to that list soon )
-
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) I'm not super worried about that stat, honestly. I'm more concerned that going through the western playoffs will make it really hard for any western conference team to win the Cup. The Hawks will probably be favored in any matchup in the west, but getting past any combination of LA, DAL, STL and so forth will make for a tough challenge when Washington, arguably the best team in hockey, is waiting in the SC finals having only beating the pulp out of a weak Eastern Conference. I'll take the field in the East

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) Not sure how refusing to give a pitcher a 7-year extension that will carry him through his age 38 season means the front office doesn't believe in him. It's generally not a good idea to give any pitcher a long-term deal in his mid-30s, especially one where you are paying him $30-35 million a year. Even if Arrieta puts up the same exact season as 2015 this year, he still wouldn't be worth that deal. Pitchers are just too risky. I agree, by all accounts the Cubs front office loves him and has no questions about how legit is. But they also know they have him for two more years no matter what and there are questions about how long he will hold up. In 2018 he will be 32. They gave Lester his deal at age 31, which wasn't the best long-term idea, but he had a long history of proven to be durable.
