QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) Yep. A lot of CFers would have let that drop Aaron Rowand would have done a somersault trying to catch it

2016 Opening Day Thread
I made it awake to first pitch! Time to break open some white wine. ( Don't judge me)

Free MLB.tv with T-Mobile
I just signed up. Does it work in Chicago for Sox games? I know they made some changes to the blackout rules.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
Yahoo found that 44% of experts picked the Cubs as WS champs. This isn't the NBA, that's gotta be the kiss of death in MLB, right?

CPD stops are down ~90% year over year
Today there was a murder right outside my favorite late night Mexican spot growing up. A bouncer got killed at a bar near my old condo over the weekend. The shooting numbers this year are getting as bad they were in the 90s. Just wait until it warms up.

2015-16 NHL thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) I would agree with that. I am still very nervous about going into the playoffs this year. I would be shocked if Crawford is anywhere near 100%, even if he is playing. The PK has been awful this year, and until yesterday, the one line that had carried the team has been very quiet. Hopefully they are saving it, but an early exit wouldn't surprise me. They are 0-8-3 in their last 11 games against the Western Conf. playoff teams. That's a bit troubling.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) They quit skating after they got up 6 nothing. Yeah I know, it happens, but given some of the struggles this year, it doesn't make me feel any better.

Opening Day 2016 thread
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:13 PM) Good to see the Royals luck starting so early into the season I couldn't handle that broadcast. I imagine every WS champion gets praised highly, but it was making me sick.

2015-16 NHL thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) Ugh, hopefully not serious. Q said "he seemed to be OK" afterwards. What a fun game, but yet another defensive implosion. Took a little fun out of the victory.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) Lol I was thinking the same thing. Can't wait for this Tottenham-Liverpool match at 1130. That was a great game. Usually a tie at Anfield is good, but they lost more ground. Typical Leicester City game today, it felt like Southampton was always attacking, yet Leicester wins 1-0. It's gonna happen, crazy.

White Sox Sign Miguel Gonzalez
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) Imagine if someone's rotation actually looked like that lol 50-112 wouldn't be unrealistic. That's arguably better than the Reds rotation. 1. Raisel Iglesias 2. Brandon Finnegan 3. TBA 4. Alfredo Simon 5. TBA Anthony DeScalfini was in there but just got hurt.

White Sox Sign Miguel Gonzalez
Injuries happen, you are gonna need warm bodies to make starts, so depth is good. But keep your expectations very low, gives up way too many homers

Final Four
Worst Final Four ever? The LSU-George Mason one was pretty bad.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) Big fan, was worried yesterday when it seemed Vandy would get Drew. Kind of surreal that Roger Powell might be an assistant at GT. Ha, I missed the Vanderbilt part of that tweet, I thought it was referring to GT. Never mind.

2016 Opening Day Thread
Over/Under on how many innings I watch is 3. It's not old age or my early wake up to blame. It's parenthood preventing my late afternoon prep nap. How I miss that nap. I do expect to see 8 strikeouts by then.

Papa John's to become official Pizza of MLB

QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) Six games Sounds about right. Five regular season games and one playoff game. Had it been only regular season, bet it would have been 7 or 8.

Papa John's to become official Pizza of MLB
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Even amongst more of the fast food type of pizza, Papa John's sucks. Give me Little Ceasars or Pizza Hut over them. I don't think I've ever been to a Pizza Hut since childhood, and Little Caesars is too far away now. That was fine too, I do like Papa John's thickness. In the end, some do it better than others of course, but cheese and dough and sauce are hard to screw up.

Papa John's to become official Pizza of MLB
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Who's the equivalent to Peyton Manning in baseball? It probably was Jeter, but right now baseball doesn't have any stars on the level of the top NFL or NBA guys.

Papa John's to become official Pizza of MLB
I just can't get on board with the Chicago pizza snobbery. Sure, if I have a choice, I prefer my local Chicago pizza joints. But if I need a quick inexpensive meal, there's nothing wrong with some Papa John's.
