  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) Man tough news about Tate. Season ending shoulder surgery. Damn. Where does that rank on the list of dumbest sports injuries?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors 58m58 minutes ago Agent: Cliff Lee Not Expected To Pitch In 2016 http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/02/agen...ch-in-2016.html … It's interesting to look back at that contract. With the buyout, they paid him $37.5 million in 2015 & 2016 to not throw a single pitch. But overall the Phillies paid him $120 million. From 2011-2014 he was worth 19.2 WAR, which according to FG was worth a total of $138.7 million. They made the playoffs in 2011 too. He was very good when he did pitch, especially the first three years of the deal, I don't think the Phillies should have too much regret on that deal.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) Isn't Saunders knee the reason the trade didn't work? I read it was one of the TOR minor leaguers that had a health issue.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 08:18 AM) Better be 0 games. It was a terrible call. Given that he already was given a game misconduct, I don't think he gets any extra time off. It really wasn't that dirty of a hit, it was just bad luck that his head smacked against the ice, and that's what the refs reacted to.
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 21, 2016 -> 08:54 PM) I disagree about having two right now. I still think the Top 4 is more than fine. I do agree another reliable D man would be huge at the deadline, but they can really make one impact move. I still want a Top LW. I'm probably being a bit over dramatic, but I just do not enjoy watching this version of Seabrook, he just seems extra slow this year and keeps getting beat. Then that directly affects whoever he is playing with.
  6. Last year the Hawks won a Cup with 4 defenseman you could trust. Right now they have two, I think that's more important than a top line winger at the trade deadline. Not an overreaction to today's game, it's been apparent for a while.
  7. Dubnyk went to the Mike Smith school of soccer flopping.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) Rappaport also reporting that the Bears are moving on from Marty. Again, I find this absolutely foolish. We have little talent and have a major need to infuse other positions, yet we are going to create another need. Unless we can get real value in trade, it just doesn't make sense to me. The Bears seem to have an issue with holding on to talented tight ends.
  9. Report: Canadiens gauging trade market for P.K. Subban SELL THE HOUSE!!!!!
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 01:53 AM) They just completely undervalue Inciarte. It's pretty obvious they don't value defense the way the majority of the league now does. They just see a league average contact hitter, nothing more.
  11. Nice to come back and win the "rivalry " game tonight
  12. They really need to end the eating challenges. Enough is enough
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 04:46 PM) Wideman suspension upheld at 20 games. He sent this text message to a teammate.... Frank SeravalliVerified account ‏@frank_seravalli Wideman sent text msg to teammate on Feb. 2: "(t)he only problem and the only reason I'm here is cause the stupid refs and stupid media." Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC 11m11 minutes ago How did the NHL get Wideman's text messages? Subpoena. I didn't know they had that power, but evidently they do. I wonder if they used that subpoena power in the Varlamov/Voynov/Kane cases as well.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) Stamkos makes too much money to even make sense here. You'd pretty much need an LTIR break from a Toews, Kane, or Keith to even make it possible. Well that's why Bowman makes the big bucks, make it happen Stan! Yeah, I know it's not really possible, it was just funny timing with Scotty being in Tampa right before that announcement.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) Roger Goodell earned $34 million in 2014, despite a base salary about 11 times less than that amount. His salary will no longer be public as the NFL has ridden of its non-profit status. link It may seem excessive but given how much money the NFL makes nowadays, each owner would happily pay $1 million each to keep this gravy train rolling despite some of Goodell's decisions.
  16. Everybody likes the hire?? That's good to hear. Watch out basketball and football, here comes Country Club U!
  17. Career leaders point per game: 1. Wayne Gretzky* 1.921 2. Mario Lemieux* 1.883 3. Mike Bossy* 1.497 4. Bobby Orr* 1.393 5. Sidney Crosby 1.330 Mario didn't have the longevity that Gretzky did, but he was nearly just as good in his prime. The gap between them two and everybody else is pretty significant though. Surprised to see Crosby 5th on that list.
  18. I love how the baseball game experience is so incorporated with food. All the Bears and Hawks games I attend, I never even think about eating there. But when attending a baseball game, my first thought is what am I gonna eat.
  19. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) I know he isn't playing, but I wonder if they aren't working on a bigger deal for Drouin, If they could get him without giving up Teravainen, that would be outstanding.
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 07:37 PM) Watching the Dallas-Blues game, Pierre Mcguire just brought up Scotty Bowman as they were talking about coaching, and quickly mentioned Scotty has been at the last two Tampa Bay games scouting...... Damn, they just announced yesterday Stamkos was off the market. That could have been some fun with the salary cap! PSA for everyone: NHL Center Ice free preview this week. Nothing beats the broadcasts from Canada, if only for the commercials
  21. Rob Scuderi placed on waivers. If he joins Bickell in Rockford, that's another $950k savings on the cap.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) Yeah that was the most impressive part. He was leading the league in goals AND assists, which is insanely hard. Erik Karlsson has him in assists with 52 (4 more). But then the 3rd place guy is 7 back of Kane
  23. That's pretty crazy to go from a nobody out of high school to a 1st round pick after just two years at a community college. Cool read.
  24. Until we actually hear new rumors about Desmond, this thread has run its course.
