  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) I went to five games in September of 2012 and I never waited in line in the bathroom during a pennant race. I was there when Sale and Quintana ran out of gas and the offense dissipated. I'm sure you were there every game given your rhetoric, but there was no crowd excitement, no 75% filled stadium or anything. That season changed my perspective. The fan support was no existent that year, I went to a game vs. the Tigers and the Tigers fans were the only ones who seemed to realize there was baseball game going on.
  2. WE ARE GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!!! http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...otals/80389576/
  3. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) Dallas didn't actually try. They don't do a lot of trying in the 3rd, it appears. Scored 4 on the Caps in the second to go up 4-0. Won 4-3 Good excuse. You need to try for 60 minutes if you plan on advancing in the SC playoffs. The Caps don't do it either, that's why Ovi can't even make the conference finals.
  4. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) I totally agree. I remember having these discussions 5 years ago, 3 years ago, last year, ect. We always have them during the regular season. "These guys are scaring me, they just don't look right..." Then comes playoff time, and they are able to flip the switch. They have been doing it long enough where I just don't get concerned any more. They have earned the benefit of the doubt. And when in doubt, you can just go nuclear and put 19 and 88 together. It's always a game changer in the playoffs and they dominated the 3rd on Thursday night. It's a nice problem to have.
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) They look AWFUL. And we know they aren't this bad. It's clear they are on cruise control for a little bit here, we'll see how long this lasts. Happens every year after a longer road trip. They get home and set in cruise control. It happens, they have earned it, but when I pick tickets, I try to remember to avoid these periods of the year Could be worse, they could be the Wild, 8 in a row and their coach is gone
  6. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, STOP CHEATING DUMB ASS!!!
  7. I remember when the Bears drafted Forte. We were all bar hopping that day, we saw his name pop up on the bottom line and said "Who the f*** is Matt Forte?" He turned out to be a heck of a back for the Bears. I think it's the right move to part ways for the Bears, but he had a great run here. Hope he finds success on a non NFC North team.
  8. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 09:16 AM) Makes a ton of sense. Putting the Draft in Chicago will make the state of the NHL in the United States look much healthier than it actually is. It still cracks me up to travel, especially in the South and try to bring up hockey, and people have no idea what the f*** you are talking about. Being in Chicago for this Hawks era definitely makes you think the country has a different perspective than it actually does in reality.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) I call bulls***. 52 weeks * 4 years = 208 weeks. That would be two different partners every single week you are there, even summer/winter breaks. I agree with you, that's a lot.
  10. Hawks to host the 2017 NHL Draft. Nothing more exciting than the host having a pick in the late 20s!
  11. QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) Part of the reason why Qdoba >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chipotle. Free guac and queso. And it's just better in general. I made the mistake of purchasing my house due to proximity to good schools instead of proximity to Qdoba. It's so far away I rarely get to go but goddamn if it doesn't smoke Chipotle every time.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) Surprising to see Buehrle having the same WAR as Sale. Very surprising, although it turned out to be quite the outlier season for Buehrle Buehrle top 4 WAR seasons: 5.9 4.5 4.3 4.3 Sale top 4 WAR seasons: 6.2 5.2 4.9 4.7
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 01:59 AM) Here's my prediction. 2016: Hillary Rodham Clinton (decides to use full name) 2020: Hillary Rodham Clinton. 2024: Chelsea Clinton 2028: Chelsea Clinton 2032: I have no idea. 2032: Michelle Obama 2036: Michelle Obama 2040: Malia Obama 2044: Malia Obama 2048: No idea
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 08:57 PM) Talked to two trump supporters today whose main reason was he was going to "carpet bomb" those terrorists and let us protect ourselves with guns against terrorist attacks. I guess I don't understand why terrorism is so high on the priority list, it effects us in such minute amount compared to other things. It's crazy to me. I read this article today from Drew Magary trying to find the people who are voting from Trump, thought it was pretty interesting. (Although just realized it's dated August 2015, I thought it was new) http://www.gq.com/story/trump-supporters-g...=social_twitter
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 08:20 AM) Unless you are an infidel that is. According to their religion, they aren't killing innocent people either.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 08:15 AM) He should be upset about it, but the fact is you don't win many NHL games scoring only one goal... I think it's all a set up for the playoffs, so the Hawks don't get screwed over when every goal matters on a much bigger stage.
  17. Another low-risk, high-reward signing. Gotta love it.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) Labor force participation and the various unemployment stats (U-3 is the one typically reported) compiled by the BLS all have their uses, but hacks love to conflate them when convenient. That's true for every statistic ever.
  19. Q was so pissed about the called back goal, he pulled a Cam Newton in the post game presser.
  20. He really couldn't get a better deal than $3 million? Wow, I'm surprised. Great deal for the Sox. Low-risk, high-reward. If he is any problems in the clubhouse, for $3 million you can quickly DFA him.
  21. These flu bugs that run through households are ruthless. Something I never experienced until I had kids. Friday the 3-year old pukes up her entire breakfast. Saturday night my wife couldn't even keep water down. Sunday the 5-month old finishes a bottle of milk and immediately pukes the entire thing up. Last night it was my turn to spend the night in misery in the bathroom. Luckily the kids didn't get it that bad, but it's crazy how it just goes from person to person, day by day.
  22. I don't have a rooting interest in the EPL, I just watch for entertainment, but damn do I root against Diego Costa. Everytime Chlesea is on, he complains and complains when another player touches him, yet he will always give cheap shots of his own. He's gotta be the dirtiest player, right?
  23. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 7, 2016 -> 10:54 PM) Eli looks like a man who just lost a ton of cash on the game. And Carolina didn't respect Denver's D as much as they should've. They kept dropping Cam back after seeing him get killed over and over again. When a defense is that aggressive and is always in your backfield, then you need to run bunch formations, end arounds, play action and most importantly, option plays and misdirections. The Panthers did very little of that. When they did do it, they almost always hit the open gaps. This was an interesting breakdown that basically says the exact same thing. The Panthers didn't change a damn thing, so the Broncos just ate them up. "We Read Them Like a Book"
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 7, 2016 -> 11:07 PM) He's a FA also. No thanks, obviously the next Larry Brown.
  25. Vintage Freddy Garcia was in 2008 against the White Sox in that extra make up game on a Monday when Alexei hit that grand slam. Freddy had nothing to play for, coming off injury, just throwing junk, yet he battled his ass off until he had no more. That was Freddy. He had some "stuff" but just knew every trick in the book to get a batter out.
