QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) Justin Tuck retires. 11 seasons, 2x Super Bowl champion. They showed the way to stop Brady and the Patriots. Pressure the QB with only your D line and not having to blitz. Then again, that's the key to all defense.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 07:19 AM) It might be interesting if they tried some sort of skills challenge instead of an actual game. Remember the old QB challenges back in the 90s? Those were fun to watch. I used to love those challenges so much. And they had the QB Challenge game on GameBoy, I played that a lot, lol. (I can't wait to tell my kids about Gameboy, ha)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) John Scott, NHL All Star, MVP> And to think the NHL tried to stop all of this from happening. It was like a made for TV movie.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) Even with the Scott fiasco, the NHL crushed it with the All-Star game. A ton of fun. The Scott fiasco is the reason why it's been so much fun.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 31, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Calvin Johnson retiring The two best players in Detroit Lions history retired super early with no real playoff success.

The Brewers & Reds are going all out Cubs/Astros rebuilding mode.

Segura seems like the type of player who is well regarded in fantasy baseball circles but isn't really that good of a baseball player.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) Hawk is very confused. Lawrie is a 30/120 guy and nobody even realized except for Hawk. What a steal!

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) The reason he got six years instead of seven is that he went for two when it was completely unnecessary. I laughed. -

Hickory's favorite head coach signs a 6-year extension to stay in South Bend -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 29, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) Not me. Buehrle had an ERA+ of 112 and 104 the past two seasons. Danks had 79 and 83. And Buehrle was worthless by the end of the year and I think it was more than just fatigue. I don't trust him to be back to his normal self this season.
-
In 2016, I'd much rather have Danks than Buehrle.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) So I don't follow hockey too closely, but does the NHLPA have the ability to go off about this? You have to imagine the threat of a grievance is why he is being allowed to play in the AS game after all, even as a minor leaguer in the opposite conference. I just read the winning players gets $90k, that's pretty significant when you salary is $575k. That's good ammo for the players union. The trade itself still seems a little shady, but it's probably hard to do much given that he is 13th forward and often a healthy scratch.

"A Guy Like Me" - John Scott tells his side of the story, pretty enjoyable read

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) It may get more non season ticket holders to the preseason games. I think that is the goal. I just give mine away anyway. On StubHub they always went for half of face value, so I don't know if that changes much. I guess I can now charge my friends $8 more if I take them to a regular season game, so that's a plus!

Brian McTaggart @brianmctaggart 7m7 minutes ago Astros rotation options: Keuchel (20-8, 2.48) McHugh (19-7, 3.89) McCullers (6-7, 3.22) Fister Fiers (7-10, 3.69) Feldman (5-5, 3.90) That's pretty solid I'd say

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:21 AM) Wait, suspended? Why? If you skip the All-Star game, you get a one-game suspension, it's in the CBA. Ovechkin got the suspension too because he wants to rest a lower-body injury.
-
Toews to skip the All-Star game to rest, will automatically be suspended for one game. (Tuesday @ Colorado). Sounds good to me, rest is best.
-
Got an e-mail from Ted Phillips today saying that they are lowering season ticket preseason prices by 40%, while increasing regular season ticket prices by 10%, as part of new "variable" pricing. As a whole, the cost of a full season will stay the same. I know some people will fall for it, but a load of s***. That changes nothing.

The first Carolina game was the first game after Christmas and I almost fell asleep twice at the UC it was so boring. Lucky scheduling break for the Hurricanes.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) And yet he's not retired. How could that be? In any other sport or situation, Pronger would be retired. Everyone in hockey knows exactly what is happening. Multiple teams hide players on LTIR. It's the only way GMs can avoid the huge frontloading penalties. LTIR Frauds I get your point but I'm just saying that Pronger and Savard suffered serious head injuries, so the team isn't hiding a player who is fully capable of playing. You can't just make that up out of thin air with Hossa. Now I'll give you the Ohlund situation, that seems fishy and what the Hawks would need to do.
-
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) For sure. But the Flyers have figured out the workaround, which is to basically have a player go on IR and never be in playing shape, but keep them "active". The Flyers "figured out " how to give Chris Pronger life changing concussions and permanent vision impairment.
