Nothing beats the Musberger gambling references. -
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) He's all of those things. He's also completely wasted at the moment And Jim Nill will have tough decisions to make when Benn and Seguin need new contracts. Underperforming at the moment is a lot different than declaring it a bad contract after not even half a regular season. If you want to declare him done that's your business, but I think he's earned the right to have a bad stretch or two.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) Ian O'Connor @Ian_OConnor I'll say this much -- comparing Christian McCaffrey to Reggie Bush isn't as bad as Dan Quayle comparing himself to JFK. He's a much more dangerous Tim Dwight minus the steroids...name from back in the day. Well, at least there's no heartbreak in this one. I'll be somewhat pacified if the bb team were to win at W.Lafayette, but's that's not likely either. The 2002 and 2008 Iowa teams were much better...as well as the Drew Tate led team in 2005 that beat LSU in the bowl and the one that whipped Florida. Lots of heart but lacking in talent other than OL, Desmond King, rb. Dude, Iowa is in the freaking Rose Bowl, enjoy the day. I remember the 2008 Rose Bowl, Illinois was getting crushed, we were still partying in the stands in the second half, score be damned. Top 5 sports experience ever, who cares about the result in the long run, just look at that sunset. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) Hopefully the ratings are sucking. The committee deserves terrible ratings for being hard drafted about keeping the games on NYE. Everyone blames the Rose Bowl but the biggest f*** up was guaranteeing the Sugar Bowl the night slot. Semifinals at noon and 7 with the RoseBowl at 3:30 would be solid, but the Big 12/SEC worked their magic. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) Yep. Also 50 mph winds and rain didn't help. All the more reason to give Ezekiel Elliott the ball but I'm sure you have heard that one enough. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 07:52 PM) This game is going to be so f***ing boring. It would've been much more exciting had Ohio State not slept through their game vs MSU -
I honestly had no idea what to expect and have no idea what to expect next year. He came up as a defensive player, then he started hitting, then he got busted, then he started hitting again, who knows what the real Melky is?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 06:31 PM) I guess we should have seen it coming when all of their big wins were against backup QBs and they got blown out by Texas. For all the"analysis " they do, the committee seemed to ignore that when they fell in love with Oklahoma, although it didn't matter since Stanford had two losses anyway -
8-0, 1.19 GAA, .968 SV% for Varlamov versus the Hawks over the last two plus seasons. Happy New Year Hawks!

The next market inefficiency...2nd/3rd tier pitching

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) So you think it's a complete random coincidence that guys like Molina, Posey, Martin, McCann usually play for winning teams/organizations..or that the majority of really good teams in the last 10-15 years had above-average or franchise-level catchers (Mauer, etc.)? By WAR, those are the five best catchers in all of baseball since 2010. When you have players who are really good at baseball, the teams are more likely to be winning. It's not just about intangibles there, it's talent. -

Who knew that getting drunk at a bar then fighting and punching a police officer would be a bad idea two days before your bowl game. Go figure. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 09:03 AM) When your bench features Bonifacio, Leury Garcia, and the like, your platoon system isn't going to work. He did OK with JB Shuck. He did OK with Soto, of course if he used Soto as a DH and there was an injury and the pitcher had to hit, Don Ventura (Robbie) would be clueless again. I don't understand why you are complaining about failure. It is where all your ideas lead. This is a good point. I'm a fan of platooning, but your entire roster needs versatility to really make it work. If you have two guys who can only play one position, it makes it a little tougher. Case in point, our favorite team on the North Side. They did a lot of platooning last year, but they had guys who could play 2b/OF, C/OF, LF/CF/RF, 3B/LF, and that made it a lot easier and more successful. -
That game winning lob play was pretty freaking sweet. ***runs back to NHL thread***

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) Did Bucket confirm Rabbit is a real person? Or maybe they are the same person? Has anybody seen Bucket & Rabbit in the same room?

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) I forgot about him. Does he even have a spot in that rotation? I don't think he's due back until the second half of 2016, so I don't think they are worried until then. Between Kazmir/Wood/Anderson, somebody is bound to get hurt or start sucking.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) This is legitimately the worst defensive performance I've ever seen by a decent football team. I was gonna say itis one of the most dominant offensive line performances I have ever seen. I picked UNC for 34 in my bowl pool after hearing about the Baylor offensive injuries and their last game, oops. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) Affluenza teen was caught in Mexico with his mom. Hopefully he gets the full punishment he should have gotten the first time I don't know the story, I kept seeing the headline on the gym TVs, and I was wondering, why would this kid with the flu escape to Mexico??

Debate over #1 hitting and pitching prospects in mlb

Tim Anderson & Carson Fulmer -
Risky move by the Yankees given the possible suspension upcoming. I bet that limited the quality of talent they had to give up.

That was not the funnest game I've ever been to, major Christmas hangover Hawks.
