  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) We have 5 seniors and at least 45 freshman on the roster next season. Wow And still the most talented roster in the B1G by far. Tears.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 05:10 PM) This was one of my favorite games ever. How many rbi's did Uribe have? 9? Seven http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MO...200406190.shtml
  3. I like the move for the Browns. Other sports have shown that coming from a different sport or industry doesn't prevent success. The same old tired attempts weren't working, why not try something different? The results can't be any worse.
  4. Mark Lazerus ‏@MarkLazerus 26m26 minutes ago No exact timetable for Richard Panik, who is waiting on his visa. Remember, it took Marcus Kruger a while in September. #Blackhawks Q said Panik will be given an opportunity "in a pretty good spot," so I'm assuming he gets a crack at starting off with Toews and Hossa.
  5. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) Was there something especially juicy? Just saw he was partying again. Apparently he was wearing a blonde wig, fake mustache, glasses, and a hoodie and introducing himself as "Billy" to everyone in Vegas. He's trying that hard to party yet not get caught. http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/2016/...-club/78288104/
  6. So Johnny Manziel is the affluenza kid, right? This new Vegas story is just ridiculous.
  7. A good infield defense is a must with a pitcher like Fister.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Cousins, Bortles, and Carr (to me) have exceeded expectations so far I still haven't decided if Bortles is actually a good NFL QB, or just a good fantasy football QB.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) Jonathan Jones @jjones9 Peanut Tillman tore his ACL That sucks so much, with such a good chance to win a ring.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 01:37 PM) I just don't think the Hall of Fame needs to be some cheerleader exhibit for MLB. Why can't it just put it out there, tell the truth? Why should the museum, which is largely the smithsonian of baseball excellence, not just deal with reality? I don't like this idea that we are supposed to largely act like the incredible (in the true sense of the word) baseball milestones taking place in the l90s/early 00s didn't exist. Put them in there, and lay down the reality that increase in steroid usage saw huge increases in offense and pitching never seen before. Oh, no no, instead we should put our fingers in our ears and act like Bonds didn't exist. 98 never happened. HOF is an exhibit of baseball greatness. That it aligns itself with hero worship and must be a victory lap where we must also applaud them as incredible human beings is dumb. I'd like to start a baseball history museum that actually covers the history of the game, and let the HOF do it's walter payton award ceremony. Well said. I feel the same way about Pete Rose. Show him off in the Hall, this is the guy who got more hits than anyone else in MLB history. And he's also a lying asshole who couldn't stop betting on the sport. Both things are huge parts of baseball's history.
  11. I saw this on Twitter today, but Tampa Bay (1999) has won a NFC North/Central division title more recently than Detroit has. (1993)
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) Washington is going to beat Green Bay by double digits. Packers are really awful right now. I think Carolina is going to win it all. WTF happened? They were cruising the first 6 games then it's like the Broncos beat them up and they never recovered.
  13. I've tried to read about 5 articles about this situation, yet I still have no idea what is going on and really don't care whatsoever, no matter how many comparisons to ISIS or BlackLivesMatter I read.
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) Carolina ended the season at 15-1...according to SoxTalk, Ron Rivera isn't a good NFL HC? I recall many here saying that. I'm a Rivera fan, former Bear and Mexican American to boot To be fair, he wasn't a very good head coach when he started but he has learned on the fly, gotten more agressive and trusts his QB more to make plays and staying out of his way.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 06:51 PM) I'm not so sure Fox wouldn't do the same thing, unfortunately. If the Bears ever get good under Fox, his decision making will be tough to handle. I get frustrated now and the games don't matter.
  16. That's Peyton Manning's music! Will be a fun two weeks for Denver sports radio. And Jim Tomosula earned that up coming pink slip with that punt from the 37 under two minutes left.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) You could have a great niche reality show comprised of all the tools pretending to be Heyman, Rosenthal, Morosi, Stark, Nightengale, Law, etc. Nothing says great TV like trolls in their Mom's basement
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) Bears at home this year just horrid. 3-13 over the past two seasons at home. They went 5-3 on the road, usually that guarantees a playoff berth,
  19. ASU might have the worst pass defense in the modern history of football. This 4th quarter will be out of control.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 2, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) Sure was. What a horrendous coaching job by the Oregon Ducks staff. Do you not have any offensive plays where the qb is under center? Can you not eat some clock? Inexcusable. Locke is actually decent but he was so flustered by the snaps, I think he was completely off his game. Adams is equally stupid for taking on that hit when he could have easily avoided taking that much contact. Jeff Locke sucks. /thread
  21. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 2, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) You're right for the wrong reasons. You don't pay for past performance. The Blackhawks owed Toews nothing. However, Toews would be better with real linemates. If he isn't paired with that kind of talent, he's not worth $10 million per. No one is. And you are correct about Kane in the past. However, when Kane underperformed, he wasn't making $10 million per year. And there's your catch 22. If you want to pay Toews/Keith/Kane/Crawford/Seabrook/Hossa 2/3 of your salary cap, then not everyone is gonna play with great linemates all the time. See the Pittsburgh Penguins. But it's not about owing Toews anything. It's about seeing what he has done with the great roulette of Hawks rosters the last 7 years and giving his talent the benefit of the doubt that they he will keep winning after adding 3 banners to the rafters. Maybe the Hawks don't win another Cup over the next ten years, but I don't know how you can bury Toews already after less than 41 games and declare him a bad contract. That's a Skip Bayless like hot take.
  22. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 31, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) So supposedly the Sox really aren't going for J Ups anymore. Personally, I wanted him far more than Gordon or Cespedes, even if it means we give him a 6-7 year deal for a slightly larger AAV. With Gordon, he's been awesome as an all around player, but I am really concerned about him stay healthy and getting us 150+ games a season. With Cespedes, he brings that much needed power, but for the biggest contract we've ever given, I'd like a guy who has an OBP of over .320. He'd still be a great player, but I'm concerned about our financial resources going to a guy who hits for low average but can't draw walks that well. I think Upton just brings that all-around player (power, OBP, speed, decent D) and I have a lot more confidence in his durability than the other 2. Either way, this team will be better with any of these guys, but I am still holding out hope that we net Upton instead of the other too. Maybe the circles that the other rumors have gone in lately will lead a path back to Justin. 151 161 156 156 Those are the games played for Gordon from 2011-2014. One freak injury doesn't make him injury prone all of a sudden.
  23. Not to jinx it, but we might actually have an exciting bowl game for once. With both starting quarterbacks out.
  24. Your four All-Star captains: Kane, Ovechkin, Jagr, and John Scott
  25. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) Goes back to the same discussion of degrees of breaking the rules. Is speeding the same as murder? Does changing your body to improve performance the same as using something to improve your focus? I would say with the sosa, Bonds, McGwire HR chase the steriod advancement did alot more than the greenies ever did. Everyone took greenies, everyone. In the late 80's and early 90's we had coffee pots in the locker room labeled leaded and unleaded. Most thought it was caffiene and non- caffiene. It was greenies and non-greenies. You can equate the two if you want, I'm just not sure everyone does or will. there is also the line of thinking that it was not cheating until there was a rule against it. Let players in the HOF before the rules were made. If they were caught after, they don't get in. Bonds was a HOF prior to his PED use. However, he was caught cheating after the rules were in place. I'm not sure there is a right or wrong but it's not a black and white " all get in or none get in" case. I may be wrong, but I don't remember Barry Bonds ever being caught and suspended by MLB. He missed as many games to suspension as Piazza and Bagwell did.
