  1. Maybe he's subtlety referring to Kenny?
  2. Given how much manpower is currently involved, I'll assume they have concrete evidence that tells them these guys are still in the area, and not hundreds and hundreds of miles away.
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) @AdamSchefter Browns cut DL Phil Taylor. Wouldn't be shocked if the Bears tried to sign him. 4 years later, the Browns have zero to show for trading Atlanta the right to pick Julio Jones
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) LOL, everybody cares about the bowl games when your teams and conference are winning them. Its literally the measuring stick that ESPN and other pundits use every season to bash or praise each conference. Losing a conference game early can put you out of the CCG which is something voters definitely care about. Big OOC early games are something that matters MUCH less. Baylor thinks so little of them they only have one in the next several seasons and its Duke. Well, ESPN sucks so my point stands.
  5. If the Hawks do trade Kane, I would like to see a sportswriter ask McDonough why Bobby Hull is so proudly paraded around given his history?
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) Im specifically referring to the entire conference's bowl performance. Their end of the season "rest" game didnt help much at all. They s*** the bed as a conference collectively. Nobody cares about bowl games outside of the championship. And the "rest" game has nothing to do with prepping for bowl season. It's about putting a tough conference game early in the season so that if you lose, voters forget about it. That's why you play Direction U in November instead of September, to try and avoid a late loss. edit: Also, it's about resting up for your rivalry/conf. championship game, not the bowl season.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) Chess match didnt work last year, they s*** the bed come bowl season. How do you figure? They had the #1 team in the rankings, even ahead of an undefeated team. I'd say the chess match worked again. The fact that Alabama couldn't tackle Ezekiel Elliot has nothing to do with the SEC working the system.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 01:50 PM) They were banned for essentially the entirety of Thomas' career. They probably had a bigger impact on the game than throwing games ever did. It's arguable that steroids had a positive impact on the game.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) ND moves their neutral site games around the country though, on top of playing home-and-home series with teams all over the country. The SEC teams ALWAYS play their non-conference games at or close to home. All the other conferences are willing to venture outside their home territory at least some of the time. Go pull up the SEC schedules for the last five years and I doubt you can find more than a half dozen games played outside the south. And who keeps ending up in the championship game? The SEC. It's better to work the schedule in your favor than try to play fair. That's why they always have the Division 2 Non conference game in late November, it's all part of the chess match.
  10. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) Devil's advocate - Let's say the girl in question is making it up. What did Kane do wrong? Have a one night stand? I'm not defending him, either. I think the way athletes and entertainers use women is pretty bad. It's also really dumb for them to put themselves in a situation where they might be accused of something by someone they don't really know. But, I don't think one night stands are uncommon in sports, so I don't see why the Hawks would have a higher standard for Kane in this regard than they would for any of his teammates. Really? It seems like Kane has earned having every single off-ice action held to a higher standard than his teammates.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) And here's the article about that that just came out from Mark Lazerus. At least 5 teams have contacted Hawks about Kane. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/92...ng-patrick-kane Interesting. Like I had said earlier, I think the fact that they have already won 3 Cups with #88 makes it much easier to suddenly get rid of him, then if they were coming off just one Cup and looking to so to speak build a dynasty.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 9h9 hours ago At the time of Vin Scully's 1st Dodgers broadcast in 1950, Hank Greenberg was 5th in MLB history with 331 career HR. Now he's tied for 105th Saw on Twitter that Vin Scully called a game with Connie Mack (born 1862) as manager and now called a game with Addison Russell (born 1994) as a player.

  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 08:15 AM) The hype was near Ruthian. Despite that, he's been great. We'll see if he gets hit by a sophomore slump like Abreu. If Abreu is in a slump now, that would be awesome. I think he leveled out after the league had more experience with him, but we will see. It's the difference between potentially being a top 5 hitter in baseball or just a top 5 hitter in the divsion.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 01:38 AM) We never move guys at the deadline. Just save the money, dump him given the chance and give Nate a tryout as closer. How about that, I agree with greg!
  16. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Not to be sexist but the majority of the injured people making news are women. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm Obviously that means women are getting the majority of the best, close tickets. Hmmmmm.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 05:56 PM) I'm sure Cubs won't come out and say this, but this probably means no more Schwarber vs LHP. He's struck out in half of his ABs vs LHP. Dont let Robin know that you are allowed to sit LH bats against LHP
  18. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 01:56 PM) Not really. Not like he needed to be a salary dump move. Of all the free agents brought in last season, he's the only one that fulfill his actual contract. Having a high paid closer on a 75 win team seems pointless, I was hoping maybe he could bring back some talent at other positions or maybe even free up money to spend elsewhere.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 01:35 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 26m26 minutes ago Miami, FL david robertson is pulled back and kept by white sox. 2 pm deadline passed w/o trade. Bummer
  20. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) They clearly wanted him for four years. That's why they signed him for four years That's not how free agency works. The market decides how many years you sign a player to, not what a team wants.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) Yeah Robertson is too good to do that. The White Sox also don't need the payroll flexibility. I'd consider it for a package of young players including Gary Sanchez though. I guess that's the main thing, if they don't need the payroll flexibility. It just seems silly for a non-competing team to owe a closer $35 million for 3 years.
  22. I guess I am the only one who would actually think about letting the Yankees take on Robertson's contract without asking for anything in return? (Like when the Sox claimed Rios)
  23. Let Him Go! Let Him Go! Can't Hold Him Back Anymore!!
  24. Time for my annual rant about how stupid it is that MLB changes roster rules for the final month of the season. I get why it's nice for losing teams like the Sox. But it's silly that playoff berths can be determined by extra relievers or pinch running specialists who wouldn't have been on the roster for the first 120 games of the year. /rant
  25. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) Maybe they would? I haven't watched the other top AL pitchers nearly as much as I have watched Sale since he joined the Sox so I can't speak for them. Have the other top AL pitchers dominated the NL the same way Sale has over the course of their careers? I'd have to imagine that if you took random 91 inning sample sizes over 4-5 seasons, I'm sure you can find similar results.
