QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 11:20 PM) I love the walk and passed ball offense. Mixing it up from last year's wild pitch offense
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 11:19 PM) They also lost their NBA team... but a recent Super Bowl championship must be nice. When did they last make the postseason? 2001 ALCS. The Blue Jays last made it in 93, but they seem well on their way this year. edit: The Mariners won 116 games that year too
-
Being a Mariners fan must not be fun. Six weeks away from taking over the longest postseason drought despite having money to spend and a top 5 pitcher in all of baseball. At least they have the Seahawks next door I guess.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 10:59 PM) What he do wrong? Challenged Nolan Ryan to a fight?
-
MLB just needs to end the Coors Field/Denver experiment. When the Mets are looking like the '27 Yankees, something's not right.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) Lot of really s***ty teams in the NL, but you have to give the Cubs credit for beating them. That's 12 out of 13 from the Rockies, Brewers, and Braves. Would love if the Sox could have that kind of stretch against Seattle, Boston, and Minnesota right now. How many times did the Sox potentially lose a playoff berth due to the inability to beat last place teams? Those 116 loss Tigers of last decade come to mind.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) Jackson finally helps Cubs win. Braves are a disgrace, they have lost 21 of last 23 on road. Isn't that kind of a conflict of interest? Jackson would get a playoff share from the Cubs, he obviously won't get one from the Braves. This NL Central reminds me of the 2006 AL Central when the Sox finished third with 90 wins.

Had the game on yesterday afternoon, Simmons made a nice play and I told my dad, "Apparently that's the best defensive shortstop in baseball ". Literally the next batter up, he proceeds to commit an error that leads to an unearned run.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Hawk just hates this team, it's funny to listen to. He tried to hold his breath on that 3-1 pitch LaRoche swung at and just couldn't. He was so upset about how horrible that pitch was
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 10:09 PM) Avi chases everything. Awful AB by him Bunting ahead of Avi makes it even worse. Or maybe LaRoche will make contact, lol.
-
I don't care who is on the mound, I don't think I can justify Melky Cabrera sacrifice bunting.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) If you take both toll roads, you literally drive right past my house. I'm very very close to that 1st toll road you take. (Depending on if I'm thinking about the same toll roads you are). I presume you are talking about the big one that splits the mountains and drops into the 91. Ha, funny, that sounds exactly like the way we go. Fill up the rental car at Costco on Jamboree which turns into the toll road.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) Surprised you don't fly into Ontario. I'd think it is a little closer (and they typically have quite a few flight options as well). We did that once or twice in the past, but now with kids we only fly non-stop and there are no directs into ONT. PSP is usually too expensive and LAX is a pain, so SNA wins. Plus, if you take the toll roads, it's a pretty easy drive.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) I believe Nightengale. I wonder why JR wants a buffer between himself and Hahn, and didn't ever need one with KW. He must not like some of his ideas. I can think of 1 major idea he probably doesn't like. (Rebuilding)

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) Wouldn't have been able to fly out of John Wayne. Last allowed departures are 10PM (arrivals are 11PM). If you are a second late, you aren't taking off or flying in (heavy heavy fines are levied). It is one of the most noise sensitive and noise controlled airports in the world. Interesting. We fly in and out of there all the time when we head to Palm Springs, but I was never aware of that. I know we have gotten in there late, but not sure if it was ever close to 10 or 11.

Chris Sale is the most bestest pitcher evar!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) If only the voters valued FIP. I think ERA should be valued more than FIP for the Cy Young. It's an award for the results on the field over the past year. If you had some bad luck on balls hit into play, sorry, but you should be judged on what happened, not what should have happened. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) They got in late. Fly into John Wayne, exit through LAX. Not sure if that's normal. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL2208 It would only weird if United took streets from SNA to LAX.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) That is why Gardenshire is now an usher for the Twins. Looking back at that schedule again, they finished the season 5-20 and managed to get swept in two 4-game series in 11 days. Robin has his work cut out for him!

That full beard is not a good look for AJP

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) All that's left for me then is what other team has gotten swept in two 4 game series in the same year and when? I think if Sox lose tnight Robin should be fired. That would be an 0-8 record in a pair of 4 game series. You can't win divisions doing s*** like that. Team is too erratic. The 2013 Twins were swept in a 4 game series four times. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MI...le-scores.shtml
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) Thanks. Of course it was in the Robin era. Before Robin I bet it was the 60s. 1999 White Sox, Swept At Oakland and home vs Seattle http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CH...le-scores.shtml
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) Can somebody ask the Elias or the Sox beat writers to check and see if the Sox lose tonight if it's the most times in a season they've been swept in 4 game series? Also the last time ANY TEAM has been swept in as many 4 game series in one season? I would think if they lose tonight it'll be the most 4-game series sweeps in one season since the 60s. Maybe it'll be a record. It's hard to lose 4 in a row to one team. Another reason Robin "should" be fired but won't be. They have been swept in one 4-game series this season. I doubt two is a record.
