QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) Ok lets trace its steps back! You start at Reunion Island and start swimming due east, let us know what you find!

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) No Trayce? Thats actually really embarrassing. I hope a reporter asking Robin about it after the game, but not expecting one to.

It's official, the pieces on Reunion Island are from flight MH370.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) I must be the only person in this city who cares less and less about football each passing year. If i'm listening to any sort of sports talk and they start talking football, I immediately turn it off. I'm ready for the games to start. Anything having to do with camp, deflategate, Ray Rice, etc. etc., I could not give two s***s. I actually start despising the game itself because i'm always inundated with the off the field crap. I avoid as much preseason football talk as I can for the same reasons. But as soon as the season starts my TV is locked in on football from 11 AM Saturday to 11 PM Sunday. Switching to satellite radio and avoiding sports radio has been a big help.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) I can't help but marvel in it a bit. It's really incredible what they have done there. They look set up to win for a LONG time. They're a wild card team and their organizational goal is still to develop talent. They're sticking to their plan. Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams (if not them, Jerry Reinsdorf) need to wake up. Their way of doing things is over. Buying free agent talent and failing at drafting positional talent is not a roadmap for long term success. Make no mistake, I'm a White Sox fan, but I want to see the Cubs do well. They have little to do with "our guys" and the White Sox are just so infuriating at the moment. What I find impressive is that they went all out on acquiring blue chip hitters, yet managed to find a #1 and #3 pitcher basically off the scrap heap. (Yes, I realize they are taking advantage of the NL, but my point still stands)

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) Losing Burnett really hurts the Pirates. JA Happ is awful. Cubs easily have the best starting pitching of the WC contenders Where do I subscribe to fathom's nightly Cubs newsletter?

Wouldn't mind the White Sox giving him a call. HAHAHAHAHAHA, that's not gonna happen

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) Yeah they should throw Trace Thompson to the wolves, and then when he goes 0-4 with the golden sombrero, we can b**** about Robin's managerial skills, and then go back to his lack of experience when he took the job. I agree. It's better than throwing Avisail Garcia to the wolves AGAIN, and then when he goes 0-4 with the golden sombrero, we can b**** about Robin's managerial skills, and then go back to his lack of experience when he took the job.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Leaving Friday on our honeymoon for 21 days. Flying in to Milan then heading to Rome, followed by Antibes, Paris and Reykjavik. Very excited. I lived in Germany for a few years when I was a kid but haven't been back in 20 years. And this is the first time out of the country (other than Canada) for my wife. SO SO Jealous, Iceland's right near the top of my places to visit

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) they took a gamble like they took a gamble on Adam LaRoche. how many times are they going to gamble on players on the wrong side of their career??? How long will KW remain employed by the Sox front office? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 10:01 AM) Technically winning is going to hurt the system more as well, I am guessing most aren't opposed to that. No one is opposed to winning, they just forgot what it looks like. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) As long as it isn't hurting spending on the draft and internationally, it isn't hurting anything. It's handcuffing your general manager's ability to build the roster in the way he sees fit, because the owner/president want to try to win now, every year. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) I had a lot more anger for White Sox scouting until the numbers and information started to trickle in, and after the new CBA, our farm system has done a 180. The talent for growth and scouting is there, we just hadn't utilized it properly on a management level. For that I blame JR and KW for making the decision to spend where they did, and not on guys like Laumman. That's a fair point. Unfortunately those two are the most untouchable. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) I don't think that it wasn't taken seriously at all. I think it was an organized philosophy of chasing the ring for many years which led them to put resources into the major league team instead of the draft. The number from a few years back about the Sox having a long period of time when they were last in draft spending proved that out to me. They would have rather drafted lower players, and pay them less, and instead used the money to put back into the major league team. That has definitely changed over the last five years or so, along with a re-emergence of working hard in Latin American with Marco Paddy's arrival. They still can't escape this philosophy with the major league roster though. -

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) He is only there as a source of information, Hostetler is in complete control of his department and his people. That means he doesn't have to take Laumann's advice, so chill out Why even keep him around? God forbid someone loses their job for the lack of success this franchise has had. -

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) Laumann didn't get a promotion. He was stripped of his job and the power that came with it, he's just there to be a source of guidance for Hostetler and nothing more. A source of guidance on how to scout s***ty ballplayers? On how to find the next Gordon Beckham? Or is that Kenny's job? -

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 02:13 AM) Teams rarely go outside the org to find a replacement. And it sounds like Hostetler has a different philosophy than Laumann. He said he's a high ceiling guy and is 'intrigued' by high school players. Whereas Laumann liked high floor guys and leaned more towards college guys. I don't have as much of a problem with them promoting Hostetler. My issue is that Laumann was rewarded for his sub-par performance with a promotion up, just like Kenny Williams. I need to get a job in the White Sox front office. Display negative results year after year, get promoted! -
We broke ground on a 4-6 month home addition project in mid October. Finally got far enough in late April that we had to move into my parents house. As the calendar turns to August, still haven't moved back in. And did I mention that my wife is due to deliver baby #2 in 33 days? Zero stress in my life at the moment.

Are the Mets and the White Sox the same team? Sure seems like it at times

Perfect platoon partner with LaRoche, although not sure if they have the roster spot for 2 DHs

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) And just like that, Cubs are tied for the WC lead. 4 days ago, they were 2.5 out of the WC and so were the Sox. I hate baseball this year. You expected less from Clayton Richard?
