QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) If Mark Buehrle wins tomorrow, he will be 1 win behind Sabbathia and 2 wins behind Colon for the lead among active pitchers. He will likely soon pass those two and reign as the active leader for as long as he wants to play. He's only 36, so he could hold this title for awhile. Has he said what his plans are beyond this year? He's as good as ever, and should get a healthy deal from someone if he wants to keep going. Sure hope he does. Has a real chance at the Hall, imo. Last time he did the complete opposite of what he said his plans were so who knows. I feel like he could pitch in the NL West until he was 50. (Not ARI or COL of course )

White Sox Now First in AL in Pitching WAR

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) He was saying he'd be behind a healthy Wheeler and Matz too. Lol, I know many guys came back successfully from TJ, but at least let Wheeler throw one pitch before we crown him. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) By fWAR, Quintana is their #2 behind deGrom I don't think Harvey and Syndergaard have pitched the whole season, but either way I wasn't necessarily agreeing with them, just saying I could see why they might be ranked higher. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) Could just be a contingency plan on their part. Exactly, and EJ probably takes his rotation spot if he gets traded. Nothing to see until a trade actually goes down.

Meh, of course they will tell him that . If they do end up trading him anyway, he's not their problem anymore anyway. (Not that I think he will be traded anyway )

White Sox Now First in AL in Pitching WAR

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) I'm currently arguing with some Mets fan on Reddit who claims Quintana wouldn't come close to making the Mets rotation. Will the guy ever get any love outside Chicago? Behind Colon and Niese? Ha. I could see him being the #4 in that rotation , but let's not get crazy. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) You would need a good back up since he hits the DL regularly. I'm all for it but with Boras, he may want more than he deserves right now. I thought so too, but he played between 130 and 148 games every year from 2010 to 2013. That's great for a catcher . It's just the recent major injury that makes him seem injury prone.

I'd love to sign him too, but he is not gonna be cheap.

Starlin Castro has a -4 wRC+ in July. Is that bad?

Jeff Francoeur lives! Cubs were a -265 favorite today facing Jerome Williams

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) Mass shootings definitely appear to be a growing problem (204 days this year, 204 mass shootings in the U.S.). However, the number of "random killings" or "cases where the victim is unknown the the offender" has gone down over the last several years as well according to FBI stats. I wonder what those numbers look like if you excluded Chicago. It seems to be the one place where it's getting worse. (And Milwaukee )

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) But on the Cardinals he'll be great, because the Cardinals. As long as he doesn't drink and drive, he'll be good. I see what you did there

Remember when Oakland signed Kazmir to a 2 year, $20 million contract after his surprise return to Cleveland and the majority of us laughed hysterically? Ha, looks like Oakland got the last laugh this time. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) Not to mention Kazmir has a bit of Bmac Syndrome where his arm seems to fall off at random moments. Yes, this is very true. There is no guarantee he is healthy for the playoffs.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Better bet is to get off at the Cermak/Chinatown red line stop. Walk down Cullerton and take the 18th Street bridge over the tracks and you pop right out by the South lots Interesting. I take the 18th St. bridge whenever I cab it or hit up a local establishment, but I never thought that Chinatown stop was close enough to walk.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) and two of their starters are other wordly For all the negative talk about giving pitchers large contracts, those two are probably underpaid right now.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 05:50 AM) WWE has erased all mentions of Hulk Hogan from WWE.com and removed him from Tough Enough after rumors of a leaked racial tirade have surfaced. I haven't heard it but hope its just a misunderstanding. I'd say it's more than just a misunderstanding. Link may have NSFW words -
So the Tigers are actually kicking the AL Central's ass this year, it's the other 25 teams that are giving them problems. vs. AL Central: 27-17 (.614) vs. everyone else: 20-31 (.392)
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) I'm going to assume today is the day that forces the Tigers to sell on Price. Hopefully the Dodgers get him. Ian Thomas will be the Dodgers' 13th different starting pitcher this season. That's amazing they are still in first place.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) Yeah, in A ball. Top 10 MLB catching prospects Jan 2008 Wieters Clement Towles Soto Conger Bryan Anderson Montero Mesoraco Cervelli Teagarden Not a lot of potential HOFers there. 7 of those 10 are in the majors right now, that's not bad for a lottery ticket

ADA has proven to be the ideal "change of scenery " player. The problem is, it only lasts for 30-40 games, before he needs another change.

Oakland Athletics @Athletics 48s48 seconds ago #Athletics trade LHP Scott Kazmir to Houston for RHP Daniel Mengden and C Jacob Nottingham; recall RHP Arnold Leon
-
Ron Kroichick @ronkroichick 9m9 minutes ago Something brewing with #Athletics and Scott Kazmir. He just came out of Bob Melvin's office. Asst GM David Forst also in clubhouse. Kazmir now hugging teammates goodbye. #Athletics will have new starter for today's game vs Blue Jays

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) Really true. So far a very boring deadline trading season. It obviously will pick up, but nothing but very generic rumors out there now. There are multiple AL teams that are teetering between buyer and seller, so they will have to decide in the next week, that could start the trade machine moving. The NL is all but set, you got 7 teams for 5 spots.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) If Mexico wins Sunday, the US has to put the playoff game in Columbus, don't they? It's already set for the Rose Bowl if that happens I believe. Basically the completely opposite atmosphere of Columbus. -
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 10:19 AM) The el is right there "Right there" is being generous. I've done the walk back to the Roosevelt CTA countless times and every time I'm amazed by how long it takes. Public transportation is there but it sure isn't "convenient".
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) Well the Bears play at perhaps the most inconvient stadium in the US. It's not often you can be that close to downtown yet have zero convenient public transportation options to access your stadium.
