Sale pitching in AS Game in Emergency situation ONLY

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) David Just @davidjustCST 41m41 minutes ago Chris Sale may not pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game after all. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/77...pitch-star-game … Andy McCullough @McCulloughStar Sounds like Chris Sale probably won't pitch tonight. Ned Yost said Sale would only go in an emergency. Good news! -

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Chris Sale pitching one inning today, a day he would normally do a sidensession anyway, should not have an effect on Chris Sale pitching or not.this weekend. Pitching in an All-Star game is nothing like a side session. -
Daley is an offensive upgrade, but Oduya is much more dependable defensively, definitely a bit of an overall downgrade.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) Per his agent, Johnny Oduya is moving on from the Blackhawks. Good luck Johnny That's a bummer. I hope that at least means a Kruger signing is imminent.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Montas and Adams for Cruz. Get it done. Nelson Cruz? That would be proof that KW runs the show, that would the ultimate Kenny trade. A 35-year old slugger still due $48+ million.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 08:20 AM) i wonder if Sale has a salary bonus clause in his contract for getting to the ASG ?? According to Cot's, he gets a $15,000 bonus for All-Star Game selection, but I doubt it matters if he actually pitches in the game or not. -
Are Bowman’s 2015-16 Blackhawks better than the Cup winners?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) Very dumb. As much as I do love Danks, I concede that is an automatic loss in Game Two Friday. Why would you throw Danks there?? It makes absolutely no sense. I agree with the poster. The Sox are basically in a position they have to sweep the Royals or grudgingly win 3 of the 4 to have any shot at contention this season. So why wouldn't you give it your best shot, at home! You go Sale, Shark, Q, Rodon. I worship John Danks but I do concede he is our fifth starter!! This is a no brainer. Fire whoever came up with this decision NOW! Coop, Robin or Hahn. Stupid. No. There are two WC spots. They aren't catching KC anyway. 3 of 4 would be nice, but it's not a must.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) I think there's plenty reason to want it. That's not really much of a sample to go off of in my opinion. Agreed, and I'm not saying you don't want HFA. It's just the commercials make it sound so dramatic, while showing Giants highlights from the World Series. It's amusing given how it played out last year. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) Of course Yost wants him to pitch. Yost wants home field advantage in the WS. I do find it amusing that we keep hearing about how important this game is because of home field advantage in the WS. Last I checked, the 2014 WS champ won game 7 on the road. -
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) Have the SPs been announced yet? Keuchel and Greinke

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) Has there ever been an all-lefty 5 man rotation in MLB? It doesn't appear so. Here's an article from 2013 discussing the most left-handed rotations of the past 50 years. http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2013/1/22/3903...hector-santiago -
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...x-all-star-game Sale may be pushed back to the Cardinals series as Robin and Yost have agreed that he will pitch one inning in the All Start game. Well that sucks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) All you have to do is look at Pittsburgh and know that superstars aren't he only recipe to winning. That's what I always come back to. There are some in Canada that think Crosby is better than Toews, he just hasn't been as fortunate to have the talent around him that Toews has. Whether or not you believe that, it does say something that Crosby/Malkin/Letang have won zero conference final games in the past 6 years that Toews/Kane/Keith have won 3 Cups. The supporting casts have made a huge difference.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) I still have hope that LaDunn will get hot here any day now...isn't he traditionally a second half player? Hopefully he'll go on a tear right after the break. That's what he's always been known for. Ideally they would find a solid platoon player to replace him vs. LHP, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) Kyle Schwarber won the futures game MVP. Dude just won't stop hitting. Cubs gotta figure something out. This guy could get them to the playoffs. Every time I hear his name, I just remind myself the Sox have Rodon and I feel better. Cubs enter the All-Star break with a one game lead on the NY Mets for the 2nd WC. Of course they went 7-0 vs. them in the season, if the Mets could have just won one or two of those f***ing games.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) ok for this, you made a point. let me clarify again. the hawks had the makings of doing a good run in 14...... bowman was hesitant to pull the trigger on a trade. no one can fault him. hindsight is in play here. all i was saying is damn if you do and damn if you don't. but he wasn't prepared this offseason. i am not ranting against him b/c he didn't do the trade...... he reminds me of Keenan the old hawk coach and gm. he would make these late season trades, trading prospects and picks for vet players. those picks may take 3-4 yrs to develop. the winning in the playoff is now. What are you even arguing anymore? Every trade Bowman has made this offseason has been about winning the Cup in 2015-16. In the Sharp trade, he got a 33 year old D man, the trade made the Hawks older. That is about winning now. The Saad trade got active players, not draft picks. And what trade did he miss in 2014 that would have guaranteed a Cup. That team may have been better than the 2015 team, but s*** happens in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) There's really nothing to worry about. If the Sox play themselves into legitimate contention before the deadline then I don't think they'll trash what they've done. However, if they don't play themselves back into it (and hovering around .500 is not "into it") then they will deal. Seems like Hahn has basically said as much. Now, the bigger issue for me is that even if they do manage to start legitimately contending for the WC, you have to ask is that enough? Is that worth standing pat, just to have a chance to contend for a WC spot in the last 2 months. Or should you only stand pat if you feel you have a team that can not only win a WC but a world series....that's the rub, IMO. Are you in this for parades in October or banners to hang in the spring? In modern day baseball, competing for the WC is all that matters. With this pitching, there is zero doubt this team can win October. They just might not be good enough to get there. October is a crap shoot where your odds are helped by stud pitching

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:08 PM) The Sox need to play better against division opponents. I don't even remember the last series win they had against one. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) Don't have hope don't have hope don't have hope Somehow these two posts are connected

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) bowman walked into the this org with the main core there. that first cup is all tallon. now the other 2 bowman made some smart moves to position the hawks for the other 2 cups. no one is talking about the lack of trade on 2014 that was there, all he had to do was pull the trigger. maybe or maybe no, the hawks may have won the cup that yr. who knows. this demigod worship for bowman and that he can do not wrong, is what is annoying to me. look at the results of the trade. the rtns of the trade. The 2014 Hawks were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals in game 7, in overtime, on a deflection, by the team that won the 2012 Cup, and made the 2013 WCF. What trade exactly would have changed that outcome? Playoff hockey can be a coin flip at times, but apparently you blame it all on Bowman. That was the only series they lost in their last 11, that is crazy in modern day salary cap hockey. Where is this demigod worship anyway? Nobody is happy that Johns was traded away, he has been criticized for that on this board plenty. But they are less than a month from winning the Cup, some people are willing to let the season play out first, as opposed to you basing everything on message board rumors.

Kasper keeps taking aboutv the Mets and the wild card race. If only they could have beaten the Cubs just twice out of those 7 games. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Right. I love Buehrle. He's one of my favorite athletes of all time because he created a great career out very little natural talent for a pitcher. He worked hard at all facets of the game - pitching speed, defense, holding runners - to become a great pitcher. He plays for the Blue Jays now and we've got a better pitcher going for the White Sox today. I want to know about Chris Sale, not Mark Buehrle. If I wanted to hear about Mark Buehrle five times a game, I'd watch the Blue Jays. You da man Q. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) This is why I dislike the NL. The Cubs could be threatening to score a run here with a man on, but instead, here comes Jon "1-68" Lester with 2 outs! Agreed. I would like the "strategy " if pitchers could hit worth a damn.
