And I was just about to compliment the Sox D playing like the Royals D. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) Any obvious trading partners for Melky? Or is he untradeable like Dunn was? If anybody wanted him for that contract, they would have signed him in the offseason -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) They were discussing our pitching staff and what we could give them in help for their playoff run. Ofcourse Shark was the name they did mention Q too. And what's wrong with discussing that? Given their minor league system, I would hope the Sox at least talk to them if they start trading away players. -

It's so nice being able to listen to the Cubs broadcast instead of Hawk. Intelligent and coherent baseball talk for once. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) There is an odd group out there that still pines for Tallon and refuse to give Bowman any credit. LDF isn't the only one out there. I'm not even the biggest Stan supporter in the world, but what he has accomplished during his time here can absolutely not be ignored, yet there is a group out there that actually seem to want to punish him for inheriting a team with Toews and Kane. He will never be able to get out of that shadow. I'll enjoy watching what this new squad does next year, and excited to see some fresh faces in the lineup for a new run. Well said. Would Bowman have won 3 Cups without Toews and Kane? Of course not. But would Tallon have won 3 Cups if he was never fired? I'm not so sure about that either.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) i remember when tallon was the gm, talk was swirling of bowman advancing in the ranks. according the some new source back then bowman sr and jr were constantly talking with sr doing most of the talking, esp at practices. now, again among the fans, when tallon was let go and bowman jr took over, they are talks that sr was helping jr. now back to what i wrote, i mentioned on the other nhl thread that was put away, this off season will show me, what kind of gm bowman is really and i will be snarky and say, i guess he is not getting any real time info from daddy. Why would Bowman Sr stop helping Stan? Especially as he is still employed by the Hawks. Every GM has a staff and advisors, why wouldn't you use one of the greatest minds in hockey history? I hope he asks Daddy about every move, it can only help.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 02:48 AM) yeah, he doesn't have daddy to help him or to tell him what to do. What are you talking about? http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/m_page.htm?id=47738

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 12:20 AM) This obviously means Oduya walks, and I expect Kruger to be re-signed with the extra room, with one of Versteg or Bickell traded, although Bickell looks to be unmovable at this point, otherwise he would have already been gone. If this is what it took to move Sharp, then it really does seem like Bickell will be unmovable. Too bad they can't pull a Huet and exile him to Switzerland

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 10:41 PM) Tigers were up 6-1 and lost 8-6 on a Dozier walk-off homer. It appears their reign of terror in the Central is ovee.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) Hawks actually got older in this deal. Yikes. Yeah, my first thought is that Stan Bo is trying his hardest to win again next year. So shocked they traded Johns.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) No Montero for Cubs? This season he has one start vs. a LHP and that was because STL threw two lefty starters in a doubleheader. (What an intriguing concept. Are you listening Robin & Rick?) Obviously, he will probably have to start sometime this weekend given the Sox probables. -

Cubs are -151, no respect for Rodon. Show them how its done rookie -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) Man, I just always like new cars. Once they get outdated or start to look worn I get rid of them. Personal preference I guess but I never keep them longer than 3 years, thats my max. My company also somewhat pays for that as well so for me it's just a nice luxury. But then you have to deal with car salesmen every 3 years. No thanks.

I don't usually care for human interest stories in sports, but for some reason I root for Carroll and always root for him to keep that long reliever spot on the 25-man.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) Then if you get your wish, don't complain about the White Sox calling up players when they are not ready or ever rushing them, because that is exactly what you want them to do. Just because you would rather watch Davidson strike out rather than Beckham doesn't mean it is the correct move. And if Davidson is a late bloomer, calling him up before he is ready, isn't going to help him bloom. Let him flail away in Charlotte until he shows he is ready, not call him up because the major league team is lacking. If more of the same continues, you can call him up in September when the games don't mean anything and maybe he gets a couple of hits. Or just wait until next spring. Calling him up now and having him strike out more often than Adam Dunn does him and the White Sox absolutely no good. OK, Scout's honor.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) Greg. You can believe me or not. It's not a guess and it was a piece of insider info I posted back then. His agent brought the offer to the Sox, they couldn't match it and he left. His agent believed going to Ozzie would soften the blow. Anything other than that is lies. The Sox wanted him but also owed Mark to let him go to max money. And that's what he got. They could have trashed him on the lack of working with them on the way out but they didn't. They felt he wanted this money before he retired, because that's what his agent presented. Whatever Mark says now is whatever he was fed. The front office honestly had him in there once and it was very early on. The next time was after he signed. The Sox felt that they owed him too much to guilt him into a huge discount. And that's straight from the top. They love his family and this was the best for everyone. I believe this is one of the first nuggets I even brought here because I personally was depressed they couldn't get it done. I initially was told they made a much lower offer but I'm not even sure it made it to Mark. Does Mark share agents with Brandon Saad?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 07:57 AM) Anyone calling for Matt Davidson should never be able to complain about White Sox prospects anymore. And when he fails, should be suspended if they complain even once. He's hitting .230 and striking out at an incredible clip in his third go around at a level a 22 year old Carlos Sanchez had no problem with. I'd rather watch Davidson fail for the 1st time than Beckham for the 5th time. There is still a 0.1% chance that Davidson can be a everyday MLB player. That percentage is dead zero for Gordon.
