  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) I believe the rule is (and I could be wrong)... If the rescheduled doubleheader is the day after the rainout, the 26th man is only eligible for the 2nd game because travel may play a factor for one team and not the other. If the rescheduled doubleheader is far in the future (like today), the 26th man is eligible both games. So I think Montas is the 26th man, eligible for both games, and he'll be returned to Birmingham after tonight. Accoring to B-R, you are correct.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 06:27 AM) You should explain yourself . Last time Sale pitched was July 11th. Today is the 17th . Sale could pitch today with plenty of rest and certainly should pitch in the series if he is feeling 100%. I understand there have been times when the Sox gave Sale extra rest but is now the time to do it ? If management thinks it is the time then what is that telling the team and the fans about what they think their chances are of getting back into the race. Yes ,many of us think with the hitting the way it is the Sox don't have a prayer of getting back into it but management should not take that position just yet. IF they do they might as well trade Shark ASAP unless they know something we don't about their chances of resigning him. Management should be in "go for it" mode right now . They really only have to be in that mode for the 1st 3 series of the 2nd half and if after that they decide it's over Sale can get plenty of rest after those 3 series. Do you want to be the Nationals and "go for it" in July and not have your best pitcher available in September or October? We all know there is plenty to criticize the Sox for, but if there is one thing they have earned my trust in, it's the handling of Sale's rest and innings. If they think he needs a few more days rest now, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it's necessary, same with Rodon. It's better than losing him for months at a time because they pushed him at the wrong time.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Schwarber getting called up because Chris Sale destroyed Miguel Montero's thumb Interesting, I wonder where or how much they will play him. Even with Montero on the DL, Teagarden is still up so that would make 3 catchers. I know they need offense, but they love their defense and pitch framing from the catcher spot, so I can't imagine they give him the everyday catcher job immediately.
  4. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) Thanks. Here's my problem.. They are the only airline that flies direct to where I'm going from Chicago. All other airlines have a stopover, and I'm traveling with a 4 year old. So I can fly direct, on Spirit for $550/roundtrip for 3 or I can fly with 1 stopover on American for $1100. So at the surface, I say, why pay $550 extra for a longer flight trip with the stopover??? But I also dont want to get stuck in airline hell either... Does that $550 include picking your own seat? I imagine you'd want to guarantee you sit next to your 4 year old, so you want might want to check how much extra that costs.
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) At least they go on sale and you a shot to get tickets to a game. Packer tickets don't go on sale. Games are sold out forever. Found this on packers.com, I love how they call this an "easy and efficient method"
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) dang it, i forgot about the buyout. i wonder what the cap hit is from steeger??? His cap hit is only like $2 million, Florida is paying half his contract as part of the trade.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 54m54 minutes ago Pedro Martinez says that he believes 60% of the #MLB was using steroids and PEDs when he pitched. But of course Pedro NEVER used PEDs, right Pedro?
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) They have 231k to spend. So, not likely And they still MUST sign Kruger. According to Spotrac, if they were to buyout Bickell's contract, it would be a $1 million cap hit the next two years, then $1.5 million for 17-18, and 18-19. So you would save $3 million in cap space the next two years, with a small penalty the following two seasons. That being said, you still would have to replace Bickell's spot on the roster.
  9. Do you tip appliance delivery guys? What says you Soxtalk? We are having a whole kitchen of appliances delivered tomorrow, but they are only getting put into the corner of the front room for now, so no real extra work needed. Would you tip them? How much?
  10. The second half of that game was ridiculous. Soccer would really catch on in America if every game was like that. And of course it's not a Mexico game without fans throwing trash at the players.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) I had forgotten that he was sent down. Scratch that theory. Unless Montas is getting called up for a position player and Carroll is the 26th man for the double header?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) Jeff PassanVerified account ‏@JeffPassan Frankie Montas, perhaps the second-biggest arm in baseball behind Aroldis Chapman, is expected to join White Sox for a doubleheader Friday. Whoa! That's quite the compliment
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) I'd link to it if I could find it, but there is a report that the sun will be in an inoperable stage in about 20 years and it will be winter all the time, so cold that rivers will freeze. There will be no baseball; there will be no football; life as we know it will end with such cold temps. Look, it's pretty obvious we people of this earth are ruining our own planet and that will be our ultimate demise (as well as the possibility of some nut lobbing a nuke at us and other countries). It's time to make the environment No. 1 priority with economy 1.a.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) I'd be OK with all of this if the Sox got reprimanded or fined over this issue. And this exhibition game would be considered way more than that if the Sox made the WS. We'd get the first two games in the great city of Chicago not have to wait. The Cardinals and Bruce Bochy better be reprimanded too Commissioner. http://www.missourinet.com/2015/07/15/no-m...merican-league/
  15. Ducks sign Kesler to a 6-year extension, $6.875 AAV. As much as I wanted to trade for him last year, I want nothing to do with that deal.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) He is going to be a Foundation player? Is it available in Russian?
  17. Was the point of Amazon Prime Day to show everyone how much useless crap they have for sale?
  18. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) The real kick in the nuts is going to be when Oduya signs with Dallas, which looks like it very well may happen.... It's official. Terms were not "released", but reported to be two year, $3.75 AAV. I gotta say I'd feel a whole lot better about this whole offseason if Johns wasn't included in the Sharp deal. Oh well. I just hope that Bowman is right about Isaac Asimov. (It's gonna take me time to learn his real name)
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) Without knowing the particular situation there is no telling which manager/GM told them how to pitch their guys. Those discussions happen every year. Maybe Sale was feeling some elbow tenderness that the team doesn't want the rest of the league to know about. Maybe he wanted to pitch even with the soreness and was told no. Before you go accusing people of things just remember you will never get all of the information and most teams do things they need to to protect their own interests. I've had to hold players out from playing. I was once called every name in the book plus ones I has never heard before when I told Don Majkowski he couldn't play in a game. He threatened my family. Sometimes it's for their own good. I assume Majkowski crossed the line of scrimmage before you managed to stop him.
  20. Mike Trout's first at bat in each all star game: 2012: single 2013: double 2014: triple 2015: home run
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 02:49 AM) He's Mr. White Sox. He was our treasure ever since he was playing until his death. I think the four who made it are deserving for reasons I listed. How can you argue with a Hall of Famer, Mr. Near 3000 hits; Mr Home Run King and Minnie? Again no offense to the old timers nobody but Sox historian zealots like us have heard of, but I like the more modern foursome that was selected. Mr. "Near" 3,000 hits? Thanks for proving my point.
  22. A.J. Burnett Michael Wacha Jon Papelbon Carlos Martinez Shelby Miller Brad Box berger Darren O'Day Kelvin Herrera Sonny Gray Chris Sale Available All-Stars who all didn't pitch last night. The horror. Will they still get participation trophies?
  23. Given that the Sox have been around for over 100 years, that's quite the embarrassing list.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) i know Q is tough and can get alot out of his players...... but this??? It's Trevor Daley, not blood clot Kimmo Timmonen. Anyway , this is an interesting comparison to the 2010 purge. Some of the names from the 10-11 season, wow. http://thecommittedindian.com/lets-compare...ion/#more-14030
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) Wednesday-Thursday-Friday-Saturday = 4 days rest = normal rest. Chris going today would give him 1 inning over a 7 day period and then throwing on Sunday still puts him on normal rest. Just comparing it to a side session, facing major league all Stars competitively is a little more stressful than tossing in the bullpen
