QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 06:32 PM) Adding to the sting even more, newly-acquired Daniel Norris beating the Orioles in his debut for the Tigers and passing the Sox in the standings. I missed when Daniel Norris was on the table for Shark. There's a slight difference between Shark and David Price.

Another Day, Another Royals Bench-Clearing Incident
LittleHurt05 replied to Jose Abreu's topic in The Diamond Club
Jose Bautista @JoeyBats19 Just heard #NedYost comments about the game. Lost a lot of respect for that man today. Stephen Whyno @SWhyno Dickey on Royals: "When they come onto the playground & there's a kid that's bigger than they are for a day ... it probably pisses them off" -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) Eaton's OPS is now higher than last year. Amazing. Keep proving me wrong Eaton, he is killing it.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 07:39 PM) That'd be the Nats. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) Second best in AL. I'll still take the 'Stros over us, but not by much Cardinals and the Mets are pretty strong too, although this version of Danks makes the Sox look pretty good

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) My Stars Benn-Seguin-Nichushkin Sharp-Spezza-Hemsky Roussell-Eakin-Sceviour Moen-Fiddler-Ritchie Goligoski-Klingberg Oduya-Demers Benn/jokki/oleksiak-johns Offense so good, Defense so bad You forgot the $10.5 million worth of goalies on the roster

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Well, Phillies are the hottest team in baseball Except for the White Sox of course
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Hey I bet the Yankees will let us have A Rods contract I think it's so great that he is playing so well.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) If the Cubs can just win 3 or 4 of the 7 games vs the Giants in the next few weeks, it's hard to see the Giants outlasting them. The differences in schedule strength is unreal. That strength of schedule really did the Cubs a favor last weekend against Jeff Franceour and company

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) Not trying to rub it in or be a dick, but how bout giving Mr. Eight Strikeouts Danks his due tonight? Join me in cheering on my guy, JOHN DANKS!!! And nice play Sanchez! He's been the ultimate boom or bust this year, especially in the past month. Either 0 runs given up or 6+
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 07:56 PM) Sweet 4 run inning . Sale, Rodon get crushed Danks baffling the Yanks . Ahh ain't baseball kooky ? That's why I laugh when people obsess over strength of schedule in baseball. It's a funny, funny sport

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) I wouldn't say "usually". Leury Garcia and Adam Dunn have a cumulative ERA of 18, for example. I guess I just have selective memory, I remember Dunn being Sale-esque.
-
Can anybody find the cumulative ERA of position players pitching? I swear it seems like they usually have shutout innings. David Ross had one last week too .

The collective ERA of all position players pitching has to be under 2. It seems like they never give up runs. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) My pet theory is that on one actually likes Baez. Every fan/writer has been virtually-trading Baez for three years now. Everyone seems to understand that THEY don't want to deal with the low floor, but assume that another team will pay for the high ceiling. His cup of coffee in the majors last year only emphasized that low floor, so teams are probably even more likely to avoid him.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Rabbit season. Duck season. Rabbit season. Duck season. Cubs: "You can have Castro" Padres "No, we want Baez" Cubs: "Castro" Padres: "Baez" Cubs: "Castro" Padres: "Castro" Cubs: "Baez" Padres: DEAL!
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) They may get Ross and Kimbrel still. I imagine it's going something like this. Cubs: "You can have Castro" Padres "No, we want Baez" Cubs: "Castro" Padres: "Baez"

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) Why has Puig only played in 55 games this year? Hamstring injury
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) He has a deceiving 3.42 ERA, as his FIP is 4.57. That seems to be the exact opposite of how Theo has been operating recently.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) I thought about the same thing then remembered he didn't walk anyone against Boston. I assume you mean Cleveland? They are tied with the Cubs for most walks, so that is a good sign. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) SportsCenter @SportsCenter 1h1 hour ago BREAKING: Russell Wilson and Seahawks reach contract extension for 4 years, $87.6 million. (via ESPN and @SINOW) There goes the biggest advantage the Seahawks had, now they actually have to fight the salary cap in putting together their defense.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:00 AM) China wins the vote (44-40 over Kazakhstan) for the 2022 Winter Olympics. That's three straight Olympics for East Asia (plus 18/22 World Cups in Asia). Advertisers must love this. Asia seems to be much more concerned with "civic pride" about such events than the rest of the world does. Plus, China has the advantage of free Communist labor which means they might actually make money on the whole shindig. -
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) Whether or not the Sox and Jays would want to agree to such a deal is less interesting to me than the entire concept of trading a player, to be awarded to a team, at the end of the season. Does anyone know if that is permissible? I suspect not, but I'll research it. This thread may answer some of your questions. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96178

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) I have ripped KW as much as anybody, but one thing he has totally excelled at is trading prospects. With very few exception, most he trades wind up as guys who wouldn't help. To be fair, it's not like he has had many prospects that have helped the White Sox either.
