  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) How could you not tune in to either root for a rapist or the most effective cheaters in modern sports? Both college and high school football are full of both so I guess we should only watch Pop Warner football?
  2. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) After he was essentially run out of the AL... You have yet to provide an example in which an NL hitter vastly improved when switching to the AL within the last couple years. Also, how many guys switched from the AL and vastly underperformed the next season in the NL? How many opposite league Laroche, Hanley, and Sandoval examples are out there? I think there were a number of years in which NL pitching was deeper and better than AL but I think that has gone the other direction the last few years. I think everyone agrees the NL is weaker overall this year, but it's also not a AAA league. But all of those players who you've mentioned have other circumstances that contribute to their change in performance, not simply a change in league.
  3. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) Understood and agreed, I'm only stating that I can't think of a single hitter that went from the NL and noticeably improved in the AL the next season within the last couple years. In other words no examples of 2015 Yunel Escobar or AJP or 2014 Seth Smith. In fact, it seems majority of hitters moving to the AL experience a significant drop off in production. Why is that? It was already explained to you why those hitters dropped off, it was expected before they even switched leagues. And AJP played in the NL last year.
  4. Chances Kaner dresses for banner night are down to about 10%.
  5. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) His numbers are nearly identical to his last season in the NL (2013) and he was awful last season. So when healthy, switching leagues had zero effect on his numbers. Perfect.
  6. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) if it was that simple why wouldn't the NL batting champ every season reside in Colorado? 4 different Rockies in 8 years won the batting title, I would call that significant.
  7. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) I am open to other examples that refute the theory Brian McCann is having his best hitting season since 2011, including two years in Atlanta. The weakness of the AL East is the only possible explanation, right?
  8. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) Let's look at the top hitters to change leagues in the 2014-2015 off season and how they have fared this season after spending the entire season in the other league during the prior season: Hanley Ramirez (NL to AL): D significantly Pablo Sandoval (NL to AL): D significantly Russell Martin (NL to AL): D significantly Nori Aoki (AL to NL): NC - shortened season due to injury Nick Markakis (AL to NL): I slightly Adam Laroche (NL to AL): D significantly Legend: I = increased offensive production D = decreased offensive production NC = relatively no change in offensive production All those guys are old and/or fat and/or lazy. They were expected to decrease. I'm not arguing against the NL being a weaker league, but you need better examples than 30+ old free agents.
  9. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) last two NL batting champs had recently moved from the AL to NL (Cuddyer and Morneau) Coors Field*
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) I just dont see how(if it was a suicide) any officer could walk up to him and see his body, and then concoct a story that would bring in the FBI and US Marshalls, as well as blocking off the entire area for hours. It just seems way too crazy to be true. Why does any cop lie about any story? Protect a colleague? Denial? You don't want to ruin your buddy's name so you make up a story about 3 suspects, it starts spiraling out of control, but it's too late to turn around and say you lied. It sounds very feasible to me.
  11. If you rank the top 10 AL hitters by OPS this season, 5 of them switched from the NL to the AL. (Miggy, Tex, Bautista, E5, JD Martinez)
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) Fool's gold. Hero worshipping...Frankly, I would not exercise the option but try to sign him to a lower figure. If someone wants to pay him $10 million or $9 million, thanks Alexei, despite some of your boneheadedness, you have been a really good player but it's time to move along. Add me to the list for this plan. He was very solid for multiple years, I'll look at his Sox career positively, but it might be time to move on.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Who can beat Ohio St? November 14, trap game on the road looking ahead to their final two showdowns.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) It's kind of crazy how Toronto put their team together. Bautista was garbage in Pittsburgh and Encarnacion was awful in Cincy. They both go to Toronto and mash. Are steroids and/or HGH legal in Canada?
  15. His first start comes against a super tough RHP, even though his most likely outcome is a platoon only facing LHP. Sure, why not.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) It's pretty sad how some people can't give a pitcher credit pretty much because of what team he plays for. Has given up zero runs in 6 of his last 7 starts. Doesn't matter who he is pitching against, that is incredible. No cheap solo homers, nothing. When Chris Sale puts up the same numbers in interleague play , it's because he's the best pitcher in baseball. Arrieta does it and he's just lucky to be in the NL. Got it.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) i agree. wouldn't he not be allowed to leave the state until the whole investigation is over???? esp if it mean leaving the usa borders, regulation and restriction are still in play here. That doesn't even matter. The Blackhawks and/or the NHL will not let him play while a grand jury investigation is going on.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 09:24 AM) Comcast SportsNet ‏@CSNChicago 7m7 minutes ago Report: Friend of alleged victim subpoenaed in investigation of #Blackhawks Patrick Kane -- http://bit.ly/1LZSbVa At this point, he's not gonna be at training camp in two weeks and he's most likely doubtful for the banner raising October 7.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) The first step is to pay attention. A first base coach was killed by a line drive foul ball. Was it his fault for not paying attention? Fans have about the same amount of time to react as he did.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) Brady beats the NFL Haha, awesome. While I don't like to see the Patriots win, I love seeing Goodell being made a fool of.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 06:40 AM) Tough first game for Harbaugh. Not expecting much this season anyway but we'll see. At least this season will be interesting. Yeah, that's a tough road game, Utah has had their share of solid wins at home
  22. The White Sox have the lowest team OPS in all of baseball against LHP, .645.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) As an addendum to this horrible story ... five dead in Chicago shootings on Wednesday morning. Geezus Chicago is a fricking warzone. What is going on? It sounds like it is a true warzone in Chicago. Government officials should be ashamed it's come to this. Does Chicago finally lead the world in killings per month? Per year? http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...0902-story.html Didn't you live in Chicago in the 90s?
  24. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) The baby daddy was her 3rd husband. She gave birth to twins five months after divorcing her first husband. They were fathered by her third husband but adopted by her second
  25. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) The Bears get embarrassed minus Jeffery, Royal and Wilson on Saturday and all of a sudden the articles written by beat writers months ago about "worst team in the NFL" can finally be published. Am I the only one who thinks that they can win 6-8 games? Winnable: OAK, MIN, SF, WAS, Maybe: ARI, @STL, @MIN, @TB, DET No Chance: GB, @ SEA, @KC, @DET, @SD, DEN, @GB If they win the 4 easiest home games, win a couple of the toss-ups, I could see 6 or 7 wins.
