QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 07:00 PM) Not nearly as exciting or important as most of the real jobs you older members posses, but it does appear I will FINALLY be moving on from my HS Chili's job that I've worked at for 6 1/2 years and moving up slightly to a part-time job at Costco. Still not the career job I am seeking, but in the meantime it pays much better, has great benefits, and *should* be a less hostile environment since my GM at Chilis and I do not get along very well. At the very least, this job may allow me to move out on my own if I can pull 30 hours or so a week. I should be making about $1200 or so a month which sadly is about 3x as much as I am making now. Thank god I'm not materialistic, because I'm actually managing to save money on my $100 a week I make now. lol, that's so sad. I've always heard Costco is one of the best companies to work for, they treat their employees great. And shack is right, don't have to be in such a hurry to move out, save money with free lodging.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 01:52 PM) Not the same argument as the ban warning one: I came away much more impressed with ND than FSU, I was saying to the guys I was watching with that I want no part of ND. Winston played fantastic about the same time ND finally wore down and ND still almost pulled out a prime time victory on the road at a really hostile stadium. Between that game & the Clemson & NC State games, it's pretty obvious this FSU team is nowhere near as good as last years. They will likely still make the final 4, but I sure as hell wouldn't pick them to win it all. (Plus, it's probably a 50/50 chance Winston is ineligible by January.) -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 01:26 PM) Yeah, another way for Nucky to try and redeem himself. It really sucks that the show is ending and that this last season is compressed. Getting Capone and the rise of Luciano and Lansky could have been entire seasons. Instead it's basically taken care of in 1.5 hours. I think they're also making the characters act in ways to match the plot instead of the other way around. I have a hard time believing Nucky would just show up to that meeting and expect Luciano to keep his word. These are guys that have tried to get you wacked multiple times. Why not call up the other New York boss and have him come with his X amount of goons and trap Luciano and Lansky right there. Also, it's hilarious that a song "My Girl's p****" was (1) an actual song and (2) a popular song. Agreed. I'll have positive memories of the show when it's over, but it definitely feels like it could have been so much more. The show was about Nucky from start to finish, and they didn't want to branch out too far away from him.

I was just reminded of the lateral screen pass to Carey early in the game. That was another head scratcher there. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 08:32 AM) I want to like Pro Football Focus, but sometimes I don't get it. Aaron Rodgers yesterday completed 86.4% of his passes. He averaged 11 yards per completion. 3 touchdowns and no turnovers. His PFF grade is 0.6. So he just played ok to borderline bad. How does someone play better? Yeah but how was his run blocking? -

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 20, 2014 -> 07:37 AM) Also of note... LaMarr Houston leads all 4-3 DE in QB hits with 10, despite his 0 sacks. 5th in hurries. Second in football regardless of position, after JJ Watt (who has 20 f***ing QB hits for Christ's sake). Bears O ranks 8th in NFL, just 3 spots ahead of this past week's opponent MIA. Bears D 18th. ST improves one spot to 30. Green Bay, in spite of reputation, ranks number one in pass blocking. How is that even possible? -

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 19, 2014 -> 10:30 PM) a question about the NHL salary cap. if a player does not have a NTC, no one pick him up on waivers and has more yrs on his contract, can the team bury him and his salary in the minors? I am in the opinion that is what they should do with Bryan Bickell and his rat lazy arse. 4 mil a yr and he plays like shiiite. I'm not sure, but isn't that what they did with Huet? It's a cardinal rule to not pay for playoff performance, but that's what they did with Bickell. -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 19, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) People love to get caught up in the narrative of "Tony Homo", and forget the fact that he's been a really good QB for his entire career. He's a top 10 QB nearly every season consistently. He's not a Rodgers/Manning/Luck, but he can win a Super Bowl with a good team which he hasn't had before, but might now. People love to hate him because the media loves the Cowboys but I would take him over Cutty anyday -

The offensive performance and playcalling today were just brutal. Trestman suddenly looks completely overwhelmed as a coach. If you wanna throw the deep ball on 3rd & 1 on the first drive, that's fine, but do it because you have the confidence to go for it on 4th and 1. And why was there no timeout called before the end of the first half? Given the composition of the roster, I again think the defense played well enough to win the game, but the offense yet again failed to show up. Only two teams in the NFL have 3 road wins, and only 3 teams have zero home wins. Bears are lucky enough to be in both of those groups. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 19, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Long blamed fans for not making enough noise when Miami had the ball on 3rd downs. Well it's hard to keep cheering on 3rd down knowing that if you do get a stop the offense will just go 3 and out or turn it over right away. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2014 -> 09:22 AM) Yeah, terrible contract. Except for that super bowl. He had 17 total receiving yards during the 2013 regular season. He had a great Super Bowl but it's not like the Seahawks would have lost without him. And it's not just about that contract, they also gave up draft picks for him, including a first rounder -
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 11:00 PM) hell if you sub relievers for starters and mediocre sox offense for mediocre kc offense the 05 sox and 14 royals like kinda similiar. Both clubs put good teams on the field and got hot at the right time. Just get in the playoffs. Ugh, don't get me started again. Sure, an 89 team is very similar to a 99 win team.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) So the Shriner's Hospital for Children Open is at my club this week. Nothing like watching Billy Horschel/Jimmy Walker/Brandt Snedeker whack it around the same holes you do...I was surprised at how similar they play the holes as I do, with the exception of the par 5's...that's where you really see the difference between their games....the ability to poke it out there 320 fairly easily and then to hit a long iron from 225-230 to about 12 feet. I've never made an eagle in my life and then seeing some fringe pro you've never heard of make 2 in a row is pretty nuts. Looking forward to the weekend. last fall we went to the BMW Championship at Conway Farms in Lake Forest. For some reason my top memory was watching Tiger on this peninsula par 4. It was probably 270-300 yards (from what I remember), but the first tee shot he hit it short and left. Without even thinking, he put another ball on the tee and crushed it 15 feet from the hole. The confidence he had in knowing exactly what he did wrong was crazy, he didn't even think twice before hitting again.

I just think he's a great playmaker with the ball in his hands, but not much of a wide receiver. You can't trust him to catch a 3rd down pass over the middle and you have to mix up your whole playbook to get him the ball in space. The Seahawks regret giving him such a big contract, and they were able to get a draft pick and save some salary cap space, so they couldn't say no. It says a lot if a Super Bowl contender can dump you midseason. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Just a note...KC's bullpen actually on the whole season was not better than Baltimore's. KCs park played a little more hitter friendly and so they wound up with a slightly worse ERA, but Baltimore's pen pitched 10% more innings, walked fewer people, gave up a slightly lower OPS (again add in a park adjustment). Seattle and Oakland are right there too, with better numbers than both but again park adjustments factored in. it's a piece but not the only one. Those stats include guys like Bruce Chen, Francisley Bueno (who?), Michael Mariot, Aaron Crow, & Louis Coleman, who all had ERAs over 4 and most likely rarely appeared in important situations. Their three-headed monster had an ERA of 1.28 over 204.1 IP with 53 holds and 46 saves. The rest of the bullpen had 22 holds and 4 saves. Your entire bullpen isn't that important, just the guys that come in when the game is on the line.

Some parents may know of the Larry Gets Lost book series, a family visits a big city, the dog gets lost and sees all the landmarks in town trying to find the family. Anyway, we just got our daughter the Chicago book, and all the sports stadiums are mentioned, but for the Cell it says, "Formerly know as Comiskey Park, this is the home of the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox". Just thought it was hilarious they specifically mention the World Series championship in a kid's book.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) True story: As I said, we have two indoor cats. Both are assholes. My wife and I went to some family thing and left for a weekend, Friday-Sunday. I return home to find our bedroom closet open. The closet has 2 sliding doors, which the cats will open from time to time (this is another annoyance, since the 3 bedrooms in the house have the sliding doors and they always try to open them in the middle of the night, waking me up). at first I didn't think anything of it because they always open them. So I start closing the door and I smell this awful scent of piss and s***. Turns out, they used my half (just my half) of the closet as a litter box for the entire weekend. No reason really. It's not like they couldn't get to the litter box or the litter box was full. They just are assholes like that. All of my shoes are on the floor, including multiple pairs of nice leather work shoes. All pissed and s*** on. All ruined. And the kicker: one of these f***ers mounted a shoe so perfectly that when it s***, a single solitary turd went inside of the shoe and moved down into it. One single turd about 4-5 inches long right in the middle of the shoe. I'm still not sure how the asshole managed to do that. It defies physics really. If the cats had not hidden they would have been outside within minutes. But lucky for them I couldn't find them. And I tore apart a lot of the house to get them. My wife and I yelled for an hour or so and then didn't talk the rest of the night. The only time in 12 years I was so pissed I didn't want to be near her. The cats are still around, unfortunately, but the wife understands that if something like that happens again there's no argument. They're gone. This is an all-time top 10 post in Soxtalk history
