QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 07:36 AM) Next door neighbor was apprehended in Louisville last night. A good neighbor would bail his neighbor out by any means necessary.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Marty St. Louis has requested a trade. Bickell plus prospects/picks. Meh, too small. You need big fat guys like Byfuglien and Bickell to win Cups. See 2010 and 2013. CROW!!!!!!

Who is Your Favorite Sox Player Playing for Other Team?
LittleHurt05 replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) Aside from Buerhle, mine is actually Matt Thornton. I don't know why but I really latched onto him. I even have a shirsey, lol. Nice. Middle relievers always get the short end of the stick. It's hard to forget that Thome homer, but Thornton did a hell of a job for the Sox. -
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) It's the 83's coming back. The players(sale) like them, and they sell a lot of the jerseys. Again, best jerseys ever. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 07:24 AM) This is the game for our extended family outing this year. It's already a holiday weekend against the Yankees, and now it's a Sale bobblehead game as well. I guess I'm going to need ewokpelts to come through with a pre-sale code for individual game tickets if I can expect to snag 16 together in the lower deck for this one. The Frank Thomas bobblehead and jersey retiring was against the Yankees too You don't have your best giveaways against the most popular opponents. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) Yes really. Don't believe the hype, you can safely train from the Cell to the NW suburbs. I have done it plenty of times.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) Bernie Pleskoff @BerniePleskoff 32m In Fort Myers today, Johann Santana threw in the high 70's and touched 81 in front of scouts from 7 clubs. Also threw his changeup. From 2011-2013, he pitched 117 innings with a 4.85 ERA, for which the Mets paid him $70,644,707.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) Having to gate check your bag is the worst. On the small puddle jumpers, everyone has to gate check their roller bag because the overhead bins are too small. Then after your flight as you wait patiently in line on the jet bridge for your bag, some asshole cuts to the front of the line just because he thinks he is important or something. THE WORST!

NHL is back! Oh wait, it's just Sabres/Hurricanes, never mind.

2014-2015 NFL Football thread

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) I see a lot of fans overacting to the combine. Not a lot of scouts and general mangers. We don't know what every GM is truly thinking, but yeah I guess it's probably more media hype. It's just all these non-football activities that are measured that people start to make conclusions on how good of a football player someone will be. -
2014-2015 NFL Football thread
LittleHurt05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The way scouts and "experts" overract to the NFL Combine makes me realize how much of it is a crapshoot and a lot of them have no clue what they are doing. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) I just want Opening Day to be Opening Day for all 30 teams. There should be 15 day games on the first Monday in April. I like the idea of the WS champion hosting a game Sunday night, but other than that I fully agree with you.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) b****es get with it. JetBlue is the bomb. They were great the one time I flew with them, but they only go to 3 cities from Chicago. Id rather fly a s***tier airline nonstop, rather than take a connection on JetBlue.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 05:37 PM) My office window faces a busy street about ½ block from a semi-busy intersection. Hearing sirens go by is very common, but today at about 3pm I heard a whole bunch of sirens and they seemed to be stopping nearby. I looked out my window and saw a s***load of ambulances and police cars. I figured it must have been a pretty bad wreck. About an hour later, I notice on a local news website that the wreck involved a police car responding to an armed bank robbery about 2 miles away and a car that failed to yield for it. About a half hour after that, my wife called me and in a very urgent voice told me I had to check out the just-released surveillance photos from the bank robbery. I'm at least 90% certain that it's our next door neighbor. Jeez. Get ready for the local news to come knocking on your door asking about what he was like before the robbery.

Juan Uribe. Fat boys with zero plate discipline can make it too. -
QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 10:58 PM) Since the OP asked "Who is your favorite player" and not "Please post a long list of players that no poster will actually read through" I'll stick with one. Clayton Kershaw. Shin Soo-Choo

This is such a greg thread -
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Feb 23, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) I wish the Sox would cool it on what a great contract they got Sale to sign. No need to look like they got over on their best player. Meh. It's a two way street given MLB's system with young players. If Sale's arm falls off or he becomes Rick Ankiel, this contract guarantees him lots of money he wouldn't have gotten.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2014 -> 08:23 AM) They were coached beautifully throughout the tournament. Lots of adjustments that worked. Good job. Best team won IMO. Yup. Obviously they are the most talented team, but you don't win on talent alone, and they just did everything right. Most importantly, zero injuries to Blackhawks. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) Canada has gotten better every game in the tournament. They are downright dominant right now. They are just shutting everything down defensively. Only 3 goals given up in the tourney with five minutes to go. Backstrom tested positive for a banned substance, that's why he's out today. It could just be something from an allergy medicine, but wow. -

Nick Backstrom came down with migraines before the game so Sweden is now missing their top 3 centers. Down 2-0 and not gonna be easy to come back. I love all the pictures of Canadians waiting in line outside bars in the cold at 4 am. Crazy bastards. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 22, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) My question to you is ... are there any airlines you like/love? And do you think the airlines should be ashamed of themselves that with the country's inhabitants getting bigger (fatter) every year, these seats are as cramped as they are?? I don't know how many times I've had some fat f*** basically push me (in aisle seat) almost out into the aisle cause the guy can't fit in his cramped seat.? Why should the airlines feel ashamed because America is getting fat? Would you expect the White Sox to make larger seats and decrease seating capacity because their fanbase can't stop gaining weight? I live too close to O'Hare to even try Southwest, not worth the commute. I always fly American, it goes everywhere I need to and that's where I get miles from my credit card. They have treated me well, no major issues. There is the occasional delay or cancellation, but that goes with the territory given Chicago's weather. I also always fly nonstop when possible. By all accounts though, Asian airlines are about 1000x better than any airlines in America.
