That really isn't what this discussion is about.
No, not exactly, but if you combine this with the Dunn getting starts in the outfield thread, there's still a lot of talk about finding playing time for a guy who was very content with only being a part-time player.
In 5 Olympics with NHL players the medal count goes:
Finland 4 (1 S, 3 B)
Canada 3 (2 G, 1 G/S)
Sweden 2 (1 G, 1 G/S)
Czech Rep 2 (1 G, 1 B)
USA 2 (2 S)
Russia 2 (1 S, 1 B)
This result isn't that surprising. The Finns are much happier with a bronze, while the game vs Canada was the most important for the US. Good for old man Teemu. Hopefully Kaner explodes on the NHL when he gets back after this tourney.

He was most of their attack vs Canada. It seemed at times like his line mates didn't know how to play with him. He's kind of unorthodox.
Sometimes you just have to let him skate around with the puck and do his thing. Not easy for the other Americans since they are all used to having the puck.

Poor effort by Patrick Kane on a penalty shot that would have put the US up 1-0 in the bronze medal game.
He's been kinda quiet during the Olympics. Had some chances, but hasn't got on the board. saving them for the NHL playoffs I hope.
Remember when the Sox re-signed Konerko to just be a part time player? Now spring training has barely started and finding him playing time is already a big topic of discussion.
Tuukka Rask must have been pretty damn sick to skip an Olympic semifinal.
For all the hype about USA/Canada, I think Sweden will give the winner a good battle.

I had forgotten about the weird, sad Kustok case, but it is now up for trial:

It's crazy that it takes three and a half years to start a trial.

John Tavares out for the season.
Brutal. I guess the bright side is that his team is out of the playoff race anyway.
Only 2 games left for Toews, Sharp, Keith, Kane, Oduya, Kruger, and Hammer. Stay healthy guys!

Sammy always spoke English fine until they started asking him whether he was juicing
Baseball has been very, very good to me!
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 08:41 PM)
No, but Abreu is learning English a couple hours per day.
sounds like a waste of time to me. Sammy Sosa didn't learn English and look at how many home runs he hit

The more I read about this guy, the more I want March 31st to just get here already. Also, to those that feared Konerko would get 400 ABs and so would Abreu, you can just tell from everybody's comments within the organization that that's simply not going to happen.
I am starting to believe, but I won't be convinced until I see Abreu's name on that lineup card everyday.

Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 1h Jose Abreu said he looks forward to having access to Paul Konerko this season. #WhiteSox
Do they speak a common language?

That was quite a shot.
Hell yeah it was. That was like the dream bank shot I try for in pool and never make but with the Olympics on the line.
Canada deserves credit for not giving up and getting overly frustrated, they just kept fighting, knowing that eventually the puck had to go in. The Russians would have lost their s*** and probably given up an odd man rush goal. Such a valiant effort from Latvia, good for them.
Friday has rematches of the last two gold medal games both with neighboring countries. Very little work shall be done that day.
