2012-2013 Official NHL thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) Anyone got a count on how many posts we have hit in this series? Has to be at least a half of a dozen, right? Leddy's shot hit the inside of the post and bounced away. Kindl's shot hit the inside of the post and bounced into the net. -
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 24, 2013 -> 09:26 AM) From the Royals telecast So many mistakes. That's understandable, the Royals obviously don't have much experience with prospects that pan out. They were so confused by these young player's success.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) Kaner has 2 goals. The only Hawk to score a goal in the last 3 games. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) White Sox culture. If we're making the argument that the team is still in contention and not aiming towards 2014, then 3 Daniel Hudson-esque starts in a row and he'll be relegated to the bullpen or Barry Zito status by a loud minority of fans, typically the ones that call into Rongey's post-game show. Those people and their opinions count for zero, zilch, nada.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2013 -> 08:09 AM) Toews just needs to change his number to 40, because Zetterberg owns his existence. Being at home in game 5 can neutralize that advantage, but back to Joe Louis for game 6*. -
I can't wait to see what kind of reaction the crowd gives Ozzie...

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 23, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) I see. But yeah. You definitely got to be careful out in public now. I don't even drink at bars anymore (I act a fool when I'm drunk) because dumbasses are takin' pics or recording with their phones and uploading it to youtube. Understood. When you are the love of Snooki's life, everybody is trying to shoot you down in public.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 23, 2013 -> 10:06 PM) lol. You can't hide in 2013. I guarantee you that dude's name, life, personal info, etc gets out and he's gonna be embarrassed as f***. That s*** happened last season. Guy got found, called out, ended up doing a live chat with Deadspin, where it turned out he was an uninteresting loser.

Herm Schneider gets his own yahoo article...good for him

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) i think it was fangraphs, attempting to use "extraordinary" health as one of the outliers causing consistent pre-season underestimations of the White Sox eventual record Good call, that's what it was. Cool to see a trainer get such personal credit. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) Well, one thing's for sure, if Danks gets lit up...some will definitely question him because of the Marlins' line-up being mostly AAAA fodder. Conversely, if he pitches a gem, he'll be likewise doubted...what will happen when he faces a real line-up, like in the AL East? Kind of a no-win situation, in many ways. Maybe in your eyes. Some fans will realize he hasn't pitched in a year, so you can't expect perfection.

Who is Angel Sanchez? Was he a coach or something?

f*** f*** f***. Time to resort to the last possible option...RALLY CREDE!!! -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 22, 2013 -> 12:58 PM) I think someone, somewhere, just paused while rebuilding a classic car and shed some tears. How did I miss this earlier?

Didn't someone else just write a similar article about the Sox lack of injuries? -
QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) would not mind seeing us make a run at the recently demoted Jesus Montero. Perfect buy-low situation with him. Even though his defense at Catcher is awful.. and that may be giving him to much credit He's just like Tyler Flowers, only worse.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:29 PM) Sounds similar to Jereme Richmond actually. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) MLB is littered with relievers who are one year wonders. If Nate Jones were anything more we would have see it before he was 26. He may have a 2-3 year run when he's 30, but do you want to keep him on the roster until then? Age 30 is three years from now. No one is advocating that he stay on the roster until then even if he keep struggling. But to just dump him at the first sign of adversity is ridiculous.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 23, 2013 -> 11:26 AM) Only two of the nation's 50 largest cities have lost population since 2010. Anybody wanna guess? (HINT: A very common Sox road trip) Chicago? (not sure if we are talking about city proper or the whole metropolitan area)
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 23, 2013 -> 11:41 AM) Well, Rivera never had a crazy jump in numbers, MPH, and never broke down later in his career except for last year in a freak accident. And he only throws one pitch, very very very well. I wouldnt expect him to be dirty. He is just consistently awesome I agree. He is one of the last players I would expect to be dirty. You can just never be too sure of the last 20-30 years.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) Hawk always talks about pitchers that have great velocity but struggle because everything is hard, hard, hard (TWSS). Anyways, Jones would be wise to start using his curve or change-up again more to get some offspeed stuff in the mind of the hitters. Wasn't that the 2007 bullpen?
-
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 23, 2013 -> 10:35 AM) It's impressive to watch how dominant Rivera continues to be into his 40's. The first comparison that comes to mind is Barry Bonds. Roger Clemens is another one. Hopefully Rivera is cleaner than the other two.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2013 -> 10:20 AM) Yes. I think your HawkVision avy is bad luck. It has brought back the ghost of a certain William Wirtz who is bestowing bad luck upon the team. -
Toby Hall vs. Chris Widger. Discuss.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2013 -> 08:51 AM) Nobody said that...just that it would take some time for him to come back at his age and when he got it going again offensively, they would be even more of a force to be reckoned with. Not unlike the rust it's going to take John Danks to shake off. He probably won't be the same pitcher he was until 2014...if we're lucky. So after some time Victor Martinez will get it going again offensively, but John Danks will be lucky to be any good NEXT season?
-
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 23, 2013 -> 07:51 AM) I know we won 2 out of 3 against the Red Sox, but yesterdays managing from RV had me downright furious. He basically gave Boston a free win. Go ahead and criticize his decisions, but let's not get crazy with our over-exaggeration here. Boston had that game in control, the extra runs just made it easier on them. The Sox only scored 2 runs, which would have never given them the lead, who is to say Lindstrom/Crain don't give up a run, and I bet Bailey pitches differently to PK with a 1-run lead instead of a 5-run lead.
