Way to go Iowa! (Have them winning it all in my NIT pool. Also had Providence, Tennessee, & Maryland going to NY)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) I like Michigan to match up well with Kansas. Not many guys have the ability to nuetralize Withy, the Wolverines have two. Plus UM might be more athletic than the Jayhawks. It should be a good one. Michigan just has to defend better than they have and they should win it. Kansas got the short end of the stick when it comes to 4 seeds. Michigan's late losing streak weakened their profile down to a 4, but they were in the running for a 1 seed a month or so ago. They definitely look more like a 2 or 3.

Mr. T was the most exciting part of last night's game. -
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Another good move. That's 7 signings in 7 days. What will tomorrow bring? I'm so confused. Why does this new GM keep filling holes with what appear to be quality players? I have never seen this before.

Pretty interesting Tom Verducci article

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) The Red Sox guaranteed $151.275 million in new contracts this offseason, and that number was nearly $185.275 mill had they signed Napoli to his original contract offer. And, unlike previously, they guaranteed that money to aging and/or mediocre players or they traded too much for another reliever with control problems. They could certainly be tough at the end of games, but all indications are that the offense is going to be mediocre and likely injury prone. If they are anything more than a .500 team, I'd be greatly surprised, and that's after they've spent all this money again. The Victorino signing is one of the worst signings I have ever seen. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) Does anyone know a good site to find the top all time stat leaders at a given school? I've done a bit of googling and couldn't find anything; I could only find single lists of Indiana's Top Ten Scorers or something, but never any sources. Have you tried the school's sports website? For Illinois, their basketball page has an almanac/record book with hundreds of pages of stats/records/etc. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) In retrospect it might have been smarter to take that money and try again next year. The odds of him going 16-3 with a 2.86 ERA again are pretty slim. Who knows if a better offer would be out there next year? -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) Its just hard to convince people that X team is going to be a Big 10 contender, when OSU, MSU and Wisconsin have been there every year for the last what 10 years? You add in Michigan and Indiana, and its just pretty brutal to get to the top. Not saying Iowa wont, just that its a steep hill to climb to go from the middle to the top Hey now, Illinois has more Big 10 titles than Wisconsin in the last 10 seasons. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 11:02 AM) Could be a big hire or a big bust. It'll come down to recruiting, as it always does. If he follows in the footsteps of the other members of the Coach K coaching tree, he will be a bust. -
Good news, Rick Porcello named as Tigers 5th starter.

I've been chugging water all day as my throat gets noticeably dry and painful if I don't. Usually drinking more alcohol helps me.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) Apparently Iginla listed the Hawks as a team he would accept a trade to. Could the Hawks fit him under the cap? http://www.chicagonow.com/red-light-distri...ded-to-chicago/ I've been dreaming about trading for Iginla for two years now. According to capgeek, Hawks have $3,759,872 in cap space. Iginla's number is $7 mil, so if you prorate that for what's left in the season, I assume he would fit? -
I leave Thursday for a two week vacation in Southern California, can't wait. Although a four hour flight with a 3-month old could be interesting.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 10:52 PM) This one f***ing hurts. That was a punch to the gut. We f***ing battled. We were gutsy. We gave them all they could handle, played even with them in almost every aspect. We had a great gameplan - bodes well for Groce, and why I think the program is in good hands. That call at the end sucked. Who knows what happens if we get the ball. I will absolutely not blame it on that, just wish they would have huddled - it appeared the guy at half court was about to point the other way, or at least had a question about it. But the gut punch was the Larkin step back 3. I'll have that shot burned in my memory forever. Here's why we lost: Player A: 1-10 from 3 Player B: 2-9 from 3 I hate to make it that simple, but it really comes down to that. We had a bunch of looks in the 2nd half that just didn't go down, a lot of them looked good and rattled out. Minus the last air ball, which I don't know how in the hell that happened. Never happy to end the season with a loss. But this team, which was dead in the water after last season, and dead in the water halfway through the year, rallied, made the round of 32, and took a (possible) final four team to the ropes. Things are looking up for the first time in 7 years. Hats off to the seniors. Way to go out battling, and way to salvage this year after you could have mailed the whole thing in after last year's debacle. Also props to Egwu. That was one of the gutsiest performances I've seen out of an Illini player in years. He got in there and battled and grabbed rebounds and loose balls like he was an all-american. That was something. Now it's time to look forward to football season. Great point about Egwu. Most of Miami's big guys are 22-24 years old and Egwu battled the hell out of them and really stepped up. Good to see for the future.
