  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 10:49 PM) List of the top of my head in NCAA tourney games calls against Illini. * Dickie Beal no travel call vs Bruce Douglas * Sean May bull in a china shop imitation vs. Augie * Sean Higgins climbs Nick Anderson's back * The traveling no call on the Alabama guard that Douglas was guarding in '85 * Miami knocks ball out of bounds clearly called out on Illini Damn, dropping it old school. I have no idea what you are talking about with 3 of those games.
  2. DJ & BP3 were 3-19 from behind the arc. Damn.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 10:32 PM) I grow tired of Illini getting short end of calls in NCAA tourney games. The 2001 Arizona & 2006 Washington games still annoy me, but its hard to complain after the breaks Illinois got in the 05 Arizona game.
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 10:33 PM) I want Lilly. An old fly ball pitcher at the Cell? That could get ugly.
  5. Illini came to play, I can't be too upset, it's nice to have fun in the NCAA tourney again. If DJ could have hit a couple threes, that game could have been won, but Miami is a damn good team and Illinois frustrated the hell out of them. Last year this same roster plus an NBA center finished under .500, funny what a difference a year can make.
  6. I can't figure out how to embed this video, but Dunk City representing!
  7. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) This game shows how poorly the tournament is seeded. Temple was seriously a f***ing 9 seed? That was one hell of a team, they play almost any other team in the country that well and they win. They looked like a 9 seed to me. They only had one guy who could score. Indiana played like s***, if Temple was better they would have sent them home.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) So, the NFL want the Orioles to move their Thursday, September 5th game against the White Sox to the day so the Ravens can open the season that night in Baltimore. O's in Cleveland, Sox in New York the night before. I say f*** the NFL. Plus it's a weekend before a big series with the Tigers, so the thought of playing a day/night doubleheader on Saturday isn't going to fly. Tough s***, NFL. You can't always get what you want. Not sure if anyone posted this, but the Orioles won out. Ravens will play that Thursday night opener on the road.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 23, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) Well, nobody wants to play Gonzaga non-conference in Spokane, and it's not easy to schedule for that program...plus the remote location and travel times that are involved for a school in the Pacific NW. There's nothing to gain for most top D-1 programs in playing them, except for other mid-majors and mid-tier big conference teams, who all want to put a feather in their cap by knocking them off. But, yeah, Olynyk was fouled, no doubt about that. But Gonzaga didn't play that well against Southern, either. Definitely weren't at the top of their game this tourney. I remember a B1G team going up there 4 months ago and heading home with a double digit win
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 23, 2013 -> 10:12 PM) Just thought I'd mention that Phil Humber is having an excellent spring and seems to have cinched a spot in the HOU rotation. Good for him, great guy and I hope he makes us regret losing him. The worst team in baseball has Phil Humber & Lucas Harrell in their rotation. Not sure what that means...
  11. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 23, 2013 -> 08:47 PM) Howland out at Ucla....cue shaka watch Quite the prize for winning your conference. That fanbase demands excellence yet can't show up to a game.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 23, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) I kinda want Butler to lose to spare me from hearing how great Brad Stevens is again. Already spared the Shaka love. +1. Thank you Marquette. Great coach, seems like an awesome guy, but the hype machine kills me.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2013 -> 06:58 PM) Quack Instead of b****ing about the seeding screw job, they just went out and smoked the 4 & 5 seeds. Good work Ducks.
  14. QUOTE (bulokis @ Mar 23, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100000015...-contract-terms Tom zbikowski to bears Appeasing to the meatheads upset about the Urlacher stuff.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 23, 2013 -> 06:46 PM) Yowza. What would "Wussification of America" thread say about this? I'm against the Wussification of America, but you can't go around punching co-workers.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 11:13 PM) That was pretty insane, and with the other two CONCACAF games ending in draws it puts the US in good shape. It didn't seem that bad from ESPN's normal upper view, but when they showed the cameras on the field, it was pretty brutal. Luckily they were able to see the offsides on the CR goal.
  17. QUOTE (juddling @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) Really??? last i checked it's a lot easier for a team to come back with half a season to go as opposed to one game left.... Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but point remains the same. You don't just bench players if you aren't gonna make the playoffs. Like Dick Allen said, Walter Payton would have 4,000 less rushing yards and Frank Thomas would have at least 100 less homers.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 07:11 PM) NW St and FGC are both fun as hell to watch. When you keep staring at the FGC coach's wife, of course they are fun to watch. I agree though. Remember that this FGC team beat Miami-FL back at the start of the season.
  19. Missouri: L Steve Alford: Choke Bruce Weber: Still calling timeout Illini: W What a great 24 hours to be an Illini fan
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) That's just how Weber drew it up. Nice timeout Bruce.
  21. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) Oregon also played in San Jose. They could have switched them just to avoid the rematch but it wouldn't have changed the location. I probably should have checked that before commenting, lol. Looks like there weren't enough top-4 seed teams out west, so they had to stick SLU & Cuse out there and that's how the Pac-12 teams got out there too.
  22. Well that was fun! 20 more minutes of that please!
  23. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) The problem is the 12 seeds are pretty much at the end of the S curve (last at larges) so they have to make the bracket fit somehow. When Cal and Oregon got bumped, it created problems due to the bracketing rules. To fix it they would likely have had to go back and rework the bracket and move other teams at least a few seed levels back. I'm guessing they get to the point that its a pick your poison kind of situation and keeping Cal close to home was better than potentially having to move several other teams. It's unfair to UNLV to a point, but the bottom line is UNLV travels well and that wasn't a long trip for them either and they were a much higher seed. Why couldn't they just switch Cal & Oregon? They are in the same conference, so affiliation wouldn't have affected it. That would have solved the whole problem. Cal had already played UNLV which made it worse.
