  1. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) Hate AJ? -Check. Hate Mark? -Check. Hate Kenny Williams? -Check. Hate Hawk and want him gone? -Check. Yep, this is still Soxtalk. I was getting worried there that maybe we'd go a full game into the season without disparaging a living legend of the franchise but whaddayaknow, here comes the hate train and it's carrying a full load of bulls***. Maybe if that living legend didn't ruin every TV broadcast of the franchise people wouldn't hate him? I grew up with Hawk and used to like him, but he is now hot garbage on the air and it's amazing that people don't see that simply because he says STRETCH!
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) Ludwick DL. Billy Hamilton up. Hamilton plays for Dusty Baker, will be lucky to get more than one start a week.
  3. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:53 PM) That didn't take long. Tell me about it. 5 innings into the season and I was ready to put the game on mute. I still can't believe the Sox have let him stick around so long.
  4. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) Have an Opening Day Bryce Harper. Tuffy Rhodes v2.0
  5. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) It wouldn't be surprising if the Nats are the best team in baseball this year. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs after Strasburg gets hurt and Gio gets suspended.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) Does it bother anyone else that articles mention Michigan being in the final four for the first time since 1993 even though that appearance was vacated? I mean, isn't the point of vacating wins to pretend like they never happened because the team cheated to get there? Is that just crappy journalism or does it not matter? Here's the write-up about it (and headline) from ESPN.com: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=330900057 There's not even an asterisk or footnote mentioning that 92 and 93 had the be vacated. Part of me says that's f***ed up. "Vacating" wins is so dumb. Michigan made the Final Four in 92 & 93. There is video proof below if you don't believe me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHPtZ7UnNkQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahpc5tm83I8
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) I thought that was out in the open as well. It was definitely public knowledge that in order to buy the Astros, the new owners had to agree to a move to the AL.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 08:27 AM) I'm sure it's been covered every year, but just to fill me in...why is it the second day of the season is a day off? Wouldnt that amount to bad business-- just at the time you're trying to generate interest, you take your foot off the pedal a little? Just in case Monday gets rained/snowed out, you can move Opening Day to Tuesday.
  9. Verlander was never going anywhere. This new contract changes nothing.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:08 AM) If your TV package has MLB Extra Innings, it's free preview week. Nice, thanks. In California for 10 days, but it appears that the MiL's TV has Extra Innings. Score!
  11. BASEBALL! BASEBALL! BASEBALL!! Any chance today's game is on a national TV channel?
  12. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 08:46 AM) Louisville is the best team in the tourney. They could stil get upset in the F4, but they have played like that dominant team that everyone said didn't exist this season.
  13. Sid the Kid takes a puck to the face and hass his jaw broken. No concussion symptoms, but out 4-6 weeks. Sucks for hockey, he was back to his MVP form this year.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 07:22 AM) I like Elvis Andrus, but that seems like a ton of money for a guy with a career OPS of .695, even if he is only 24 this year I was thinking the same thing, and he is getting mvoed to 2b next year once Profar is ready.
  15. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 11:16 PM) Feeling pretty good about my Buckeyes in the title game pick. Probably a bad sign. Everything has set up so well for OSU, it kind of seems like a lock that Wichita St. will win on Saturday.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) LOL @ Tuukka Rask On Tuesday night, a guy on Calgary tried to jump the boards and nearly racked himself on the corner, pretty impressive.
  17. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 08:16 AM) No, not without identifying where that money would have been spent. For a big chunk of the season, there wasn't a glaring need except for third base, and what third baseman could have been had for the right amount of money? Just about everything fell apart at the end. So unless that $23 million could have been spent on keeping the team healthy and reduced their fatigue, what could they have done with the money to ensure a division title? The Sox easily could have bought Alex Rodriguez's contract if JR wasn't so greedy & cheap. 3B problem solved with a proven late season performer.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) They were an NCAA quality team but not an NCAA worthy team, if that makes sense. They were probably a better team than some of the last at-large teams, but without the resume, the NCAA won't let you dance.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 08:10 AM) I have to agree with this really meatball post. I'm feeling the pride this morning. It's been a long 11 some months for Bulls fans. Last night, though it didn't mean all that much, meant a lot. I cannot wait until Rose gets back and I can become a rational poster again. 6 more months of irrational Steve?
  20. QUOTE (bulokis @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 01:59 AM) Wow Iginla to Pittsburgh penguins! Wow, f***ing stacked. Hawks/Penguins SC final will be a classic this summer!
  21. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) As soon as they dropped the puck tonight in Calgary, all of their fans were chanting "Iggy, Iggy." In an era where athletes are divas and demand trades when they don't have a chance to win, it's easy to appreciate the Jarome Iginla's of the world. That chant tonight gave me goosebumps. Wherever he ends up, I wish him the best. Healthy scratch tonight, so he's definitely going somewhere. Bruins seem to be the most likely destination.
