  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) Don't we have the best bullpen in the AL, if everyone's healthy?
  2. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) That's why I am asking. Kentucky's roster shows 13 players. With 2 seniors and Noel leaving, are you saying they only have 11 on scholarship right now? That would take them down to 8 as you say. I don't know UK's roster. Who is on the 13 man roster but not on scholarship? Here is a scholarship chart I found via Google. Two of their sophomores aren't on scholarship, which puts them at 8 scholarship players. When Noel leaves that puts them at 7.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 07:25 PM) Weakening the least important spot of the bullpen isn't as important as winning games in April and May and getting off to at least a decent start. I just have a feeling Axelrod, the more times other teams face him and get video on him...will end up being a 5+ ERA starter. Who knows? Many feel the same way about Quintana after the 2nd half last year. We'll just have to wait and see, but there's one thing I know for sure, I'd feel more comfortable expecting a win with Santiago starting versus Dylan. Is Axelrod as bad as most of the 5th straters we trotted out from 2001-2004? No. But when the Tigers are 6 deep in their rotation, and it's quality depth, we need to enter every game with the highest likelihood of getting a win. Santiago put up 4 starts last year with a cumulative sub 2 ERA. Does anyone actually think Axelrod could have done the same? And only 2 of those starts did Santiago go even 5 innings, can you even call the other 2 "starts"? In 21 innings @ NYY, BOS, & BAL Axelrod gave up a total of 4 earned runs, that's far more impressive.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 05:51 PM) Is it wrong that I don't care Urlacher is gone? As opposed to all the Bears fans who are legitimately upset about it? f***ing meatheads.
  5. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) Last word I heard about Hossa was "questionable" for tonight vs. Ducks. Anyone hear anything else? He is out tonight, but still "day-to-day". Big game tonight potentially for the #1 seed. Hope I can stay awake past my bedtime.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 10:43 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7513597.story Hester's WR days are over. When did they even start?
  7. Now Ald. Tunney says, Go ahead and install a Jumbotron, just tear down that old scoreboard in centerfield. The rooftop owners have to be putting his kids' grandkids' grandkids through college.
  8. Kendall Gill & Tim Doyle got into a physcial altercation at CSN last night
  9. I'd gladly take a "shocking" 1st round NIT loss for a national championship and multiple #1 recruiting classes.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 06:59 AM) Agreed. Football contracts are only good for headlines. Other than that, they are a joke. I'd like to see how many players actually play out entire contracts that are 4 years or longer. I'd bet it's 50% or less.
  11. And with Danks not seemingly healthy yet, this is definitely the right move.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 05:57 PM) Danks started sucking when he got those new teeth. Conspiracy. Didn't he just get married too? It's ruined many careers.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 06:24 PM) Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales 17m Dunn says he'll play left field on Wednesday, sox lose When I first read it, I thought Gonzales was inferring that the Sox have zero chance to win Wednesday with Dunn in LF.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 03:36 PM) That Region is just brutal to pick. So many good teams with great histories of winning titles. The removal of the S-curve gave the #1 overall seed the toughest bracket on paper.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 01:20 PM) I believe the players pensions are funded directly by the All Star game revenue. The players also have negotiating power. They have a union, they have a collectively bargained contract. I'd imagine many of the other employees have no such power. Getting rid of pensions is normal business practice these days. I get all the business stuff. It's just with TV revenues rising, which have increased teams' payrolls, its interesting to see them make cuts at the other end of the payroll spectrum.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) So you guys have the big ten as 75% of the final four? I'll take it, I just read that and say...wait... If MSU didn't have to potentially go through Duke & Louisville, I could 3 B1G teams in the F4. I think OSU & Indiana are probably favorites from their regions, not that it means all that much once the madness starts.
  17. I assumed this was referring to the players' pensions, which I had no issue with. But everyone else's pensions? Whoa.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 01:06 PM) There is no chance the Cubs move to Rosemont. None. This is just the Stephens mob trying to take advantage of this situation. Heck I wouldn't even be surprised if Rickets set this up to try to gain some leverage against Rahm and the City of Chicago. Exactly. The reason why Ald. Tunney is acting like such a penis is because he can. He knows the Cubs aren't going anywhere and need Wrigley more than Wrigleyville needs the Cubs. The possibility of them moving to the suburbs is their only chance for leverage, and it's hard to convince people it's legit.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) I've never seen that one before.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 08:33 AM) I don't know how this gets resolved for this year, but my guess is that beginning in 2014, any MLB team that shares a stadium/parking with an NFL team will be scheduled to be on the road the first Thursday in September to avoid the conflict ahead of time. Of course, if the Bears would just win the Super Bowl every year, then there's no problem. Except for the Tigers. It's not like the Lions will ever win a Super Bowl.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 06:38 PM) With this Orioles/White Sox September 5th controversy, it got me looking at the schedule a little more closely. Noticed the Sox scheduled Friday, September 13 at 1:05 for Yom Kippur. Again, the Sox are the only team to do this. Why is it so important to them and not any other team? Apparently last year's time change had more to do with the fans than Youkilis.
  22. Hawks out for revenge tonight, looking good so far. Crowd reactions make it sound like a home game.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) Let's forget for a moment that those players belonged to the Cubs. Talent-wise, would you make any of those four proposed trades? Surely, everyone would say NOT NOW, but in 2015, they would be much more amenable to the possibility if the franchise struggles over the next couple of seasons. But some posters will be lonely posting over and over against the "mainstream" Sox fan waiting for that moment to come where a Chris Sale trade would actually become palatable. And, in some ways, we were very fortunate that Santos' season blew up last season...as that looked like a puzzling trade at best, signing a young, somewhat proven reliever with great stuff for a "suspect" in Molina who probably will never make it as a starter with the Sox. Trades aren't that simple though, it's not just about talent. A team's current roster matters, the players' contracts matter. The Braves might trade those prospects for Sale now, but the Cubs wouldn't. Maybe the Mariners trade Sale for those players today, but the Sox wouldn't.
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) Bulls sign Malcolm Thomas to a 10-day contract as reported by Aggrey Sam. I call bulls*** until Flapship reports it.
