I think out of either, Harper is still the more likely of the two to come here. Machado has a well documented fondness for NY and with the Phillies also wanting him.

I honestly feel like the Cubs dont give a crap about the luxury tax and have a ton of money to spend.

This makes it all the more painful if he ends up with the Cubs.

Sorry I'm not saying the media opportunities are comparable to Chicago, I don't think anyone can make the argument. Just saying the White Sox don't really even attempt to market their players on a bigger stage and that Harper/Machado would change that. I think one of the main reasons they want these guys is to raise their profile a little.

Abreu is the "face" by default, he is not very marketable. The White Sox don't really market individual players. If they signed one of Machado or Harper they would market the hell out of them.

All indications is that Harper is doing his due dilligence and won't make a decision for the next few weeks.

Issue for me is they've never publicly stated they're going to be aggressive in this stuff before like this. If they are ready to talk big they better act like it. They are setting the expectations for this.

Nothing new and its beating a dead horse now but they just need to come out ahead with the most cash.
