  1. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ May 15, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) Anyone else looking forward to the Copa America next month? I've been into the sport for a while now (WC '06 piqued my interest, but it was Euro '08 that really dragged me in) but haven't ever actually watched this tournament. For whatever reason I didn't watch in 2011 (I was getting into tennis hardcore that summer, so that may have distracted me...and it looks like it wasn't even on US TV in English anyway). I think I'm going to get beIN just for the month for this, though. On a related note, looks like Fox is going to get the rights to the 2016 event in the US...venues to be announced sometime this month. Midwest cities being considered include Chicago, St. Louis, Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City, and Indianapolis. Damn, Copa America is only on beIN? Maybe I can just watch it on Telemundo or something.
  2. I can't believe Hinrich has a player option for $3 million next year. Biggest waste of cap space ever.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) Everything so far has made it sound like it will go up a lot more than a few million. TV deal doesn't kick in till next year. I wouldn't expect it to go up too much.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) I think even after signing Butler to the max deal, they will be below the tax threshold. With Butler's QO hold, the Bulls would be at $61 million. With him on a max, they'd be at $73 million. $3 million under last year's tax line. This year's line will probably go up a few million.
  5. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 15, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) What can they realistically do? Hearing a lot of build around Rose, Niko, and Butler talk. Assuming Butler gets his max contract, I believe that's 14M, so 39M between those 3 guys. The cap is gonna be at 67m. The following year the cap is set to jump up 20M. Do back loaded contracts happen in the NBA? Who are people looking at this off season? Who are you lookin to dump? There's nothing much the Bulls can do. They're still under the tax, so they'll get the MLE. So they can maybe pick up another veteran for $5 million a year. One way to free up salary is to somehow trade Joakim Noah. But after how he played in the playoffs, what contending team would go after him? His best asset is an expiring $13.5 million contract. Even then, the salary cap is jumping almost $30 million next year anyhow. Guys you can possibly sign for a MLE: Lou Williams, Wesley Matthews, Thaddeus Young, Danny Green, Aaron Afflalo, Marco Belinelli, Gerald Green. The Bulls' biggest hole is SF/SG. They need a guy who can spread the floor. Afflalo, Matthews, or Green would make sense.
  6. It'll be an interesting off-season. I wonder what the Bulls can possibly get for Thibs, if anything at all. And f*** Matthew Dellevadova.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) Bonifacio at 2B Not a fan of that. Nor am I a fan of Gordon getting more playing time to display his flaws.
  8. So Gordon's platooning at 3B and getting starts at 2B when Sanchez doesn't play?
  9. I don't even want to watch tonight's game. But I probably will since I have nothing else better to do.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 14, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) Not that last year was much better, but I see the final being a boring 1-0 win for Barca. Seems likely. Juventus has a big and strong midfield. Aside from Busquets, you can push Rakitic and Iniesta around pretty good. If it's a struggle in the mid field all game, it's going to be low scoring.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) jon greenberg ‏@jon_greenberg 9m9 minutes ago No one deserves the NBA's Citizenship Award more than Joakim Noah. As Rose's security guy told me, "He goes to places I won't go to." Except for Cleveland.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 13, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) I love seeing Real Madrid lose. Juve really earned it though. Barca will be heavily favored, but Juve is a tricky opponent. They will try to take advantage of Barca's weakness on set pieces. RM fans are spoiled as hell.
  13. Juventus advance. What a job by Juventus. They're clearly not as talented, but they pulled it off. Real Madrid is going to walk away with nothing this year. Barcelona has a chance at the Treble.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) Presumably if they reviewed it to add the Tech for the other guy then Taj did not get suspended for game 6 in that review and the review is completed. He won't get suspended period. He's had one flagrant 1 and one flagrant 2. That's 3 points. If you exceed 3 points, it's a suspension. Unless the NBA thinks what he did really warranted a suspension, he's not getting suspended.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) Hey thanks NBA for that ! Vincent Goodwill ‏@vgoodwill 2m2 minutes ago RT @NBAPR: CLE's Dellavedova has been assessed a technical foul for his involvement in altercation with CHI's Gibson at 10:25 of 4Q Oh gee, an extra FT would have been nice to have when we were down 2 at the end of the game!
  16. Unless we pull these next two games out of our ass, I'm fine with letting Thibs go. The man is simply too stubborn. I just hope the FO has a definitive plan on who to bring in. And they better be damn sure he's miles ahead of Thibs offensively. This might end up being a Lovie-Trestman situation.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 13, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) With the exception of a couple of episodes, Community has been brutal. Just end it. It's not the same as it was before. I wouldn't call it brutal, it's just not as good as it used to be. They lost 3 cast members, so it's somewhat understandable.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) I know his peripherals aren't awful, but it's disappointing to see how much worse Strasburg's stuff is since he debuted. It's hard to average 97 MPH on your fastball as a starter.
  19. Houston's winning by 20 right now at home. They got blown out their last two games. Anything's possible. Win game 6 and see what happens in game 7. It's hard to lose to this Cavs team even when LeBron goes off.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ May 12, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) s***, he doesn't have to be anywhere near 100% to knock down some 18 footers He said he couldn't run up or down the court today. You can't play 4 on 5 defensively even if Gasol doesn't move much on that end.
  21. I have a hard time believing Pau will be anywhere near 100% on Thursday. He's gotta play anyhow. It's a do or die game.
  22. If the players really like Thibs as much as some say they do, they'll not play like ass in the next two game and possibly save his job. Our role players have been crap.
  23. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 12, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) 2 big offensive possessions and we have Noah and Kirk out there? I don't get it man. We can't inbound properly. They're taking Rose and Butler away.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ May 12, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) Don't tell me losing Taj Gibson didn't change the outcome of this game They got 2 free points out of it.
  25. Another god damn offensive board. My god...
