QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) The other way to think about it is that if he has a legit, couple million dollar offer from someone else, he ought to take that and run with it. Perhaps. He has talent, obviously.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:35 PM) Haha not saying that, just not sure they put the priority on strength training the way US bball does. If you put it that way, maybe. Strength doesn't seem like a huge priority in European basketball. It's much more about skill, especially shooting.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:32 PM) http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Nikola-Mirotic-5134/ This was a nice silver lining to the day. Love that he hustles so hard and tries on D. I feel like his strength will improve with US weight room...? Does that sound reasonable? Maybe. It's not like Spain is a third world country or anything though. He played on one of the best teams in Europe. I'm sure they have strength programs.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) No, you can't. Not sure what video you saw. Mirotic doesn't have close to the quickness athleticism to match-up with nba wings. If you can play McDermott at the 3, you can play Mirotic at the 3. It's not a good idea though.

I think the Bulls are trying to become last year's Timberwolves. 5 of the 12 guys on the roster are white.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) The suns. I don't know either. I'm just grasping for something to dream about. 3 way trade for rondo to suns, Dragic to bulls, and Ainge just does us a solid and sacrifices Kirk to the Celtic gods. At this point, I wouldn't mind someone like Kevin Martin through a trade. Although I doubt that would happen.

Hypothetically, you can play Mirotic at the 3. Not sure if he has the lateral quickness to guard smaller wings though. But his length would be great at the position. Gallinari is the same height and he's always played SF.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 05:59 PM) Dunleavy...or Jimmy if we are allowed to simulate summer league snell for real games, like a handicap. I don't know how you could fault DJ, this could be his best shot s&t big payday. Maybe would like Brooks as Pg at min. Or trade Jimmy for Dragic, two pg backcourt But they would never. They as in the Bulls or they as in the Suns? Not sure why the Suns would do that.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) 3 years, $17 million I'll take it. I watched Mirotic's scouting video a few days back. Obviously a great shooter, has the ability to go inside as well. Only real knock against him was his strength.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) Guess Messi got it for lifetime achievement. Well you can't say he wasn't completely undeserving. He's been involved in most of Argentina's goals in the knockout rounds (not many, but it was enough for the most part).

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 04:54 PM) I have a feeling that Augustin is going to get a whole bunch more than he's worth. You can't crack jokes about the Bulls overvaluing players and then say we should sign DJ Augustin for much of anything above the vet's minimum I hope DJ realizes that the Bulls basically saved his career and that he'd fit in way better in our system than anywhere else. It really depends on the type of person he is.

You know who would have been a good get for the Bulls? Arron Afflalo.

Slow pitch softball thread
So I almost got my head taken off yesterday. I was playing catcher and the throw was a bit up the line. The runner coming home literally plowed his arms into my temple. I thought he wasn't even near me when I tried to go catch the ball, so I wasn't bracing for anything. I blacked out for a good 5 seconds. What really pissed me off was that the other team didn't seem to even care. Nobody apologized. In fact, when I got up, extremely pissed off, and asked who hit me, they barely acknowledged my question and acted like nothing happened. It's freaking slow pitch softball, not football. Injuring someone is not worth it, especially when it's a head/neck injury. Apparently, I was occupying the base line (hard to tell since the infield was barely lined) and it was a bang-bang play. Still, there's absolutely no need to plow shoulder first into someone's head. They don't even allow that in professional football. We ended up winning and getting 3rd in the tournament, but I was nowhere near the same after the hit. I was 2-3 before it, 2-7 afterwards. Now I'm going to have to deal with neck and jaw pain for the next week. I think I'm done with USSSA tournaments for a while. People take that s*** way too seriously for what it actually is.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 04:22 PM) Eh, I agree with you but that decision would be X amount of money vs. Y amount of money rather than player A vs. player B. So at least it's understandable. Anything more than the vet min for Hinrich seems like it's too much to me.

It must really suck for Gonzalo Higuain. He missed a perfect opportunity early in the game and got his head taken off.

If they chose Hinrich instead of Augustin, I'm gonna be pissed.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) I agree with your premise but the McDermott-Morrison comparison is a bad one and that's coming from someone who is very torn on the guy at the moment. But their games are very different. Yup McDermott does a lot more than Morrison. Morrison did nothing well except shoot 3s in college. McDermott has a lot more to his game.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:17 PM) Which is why mirotic, Gasol, and mcdermott were added. Not to mention we might add more pieces. People are overreacting. Melo would have obviously made the bulls better, but the world isn't ending. One guy is 34 and the other two are unproven prospects. For once, I just want the sure thing.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) We have a fantastic supporting cast. I mean, one of the guys won DPOY and was first team all nba. We have a supporting cast that does one thing well: play defense. That's great and all, but we also need people to score.

2014 FIFA World Cup
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) Romero has 15 saves in 6 games. Howard had that many in one game. Romero has been helped by a much stronger defense, plus the Dutch didn't really try to score in the semifinal. Neuer does deserve more credit than I gave him, he has made 25 saves, didn't realize Germany had given up that many shots. It helps that Romero is on a team who can control possession and not give up as many opportunities as the US did, but in the end, the amount of saves is dependent on the team you play for. I don't think you can argue against Tim Howard getting a top keeper award, but I also don't think it's definitive.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) We've always relied on our bench too much - Nate, Augustin, Bellinelli, Taj, the bench mob from a few years ago. We need superstars, multiples, and healthy. We still have the same issue as we did in 2011, we do not have an additional scorer who can create his own shot. This is sad. Eh, we need one healthy superstar and a great supporting cast. We don't have either right now really lol.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) Exactly so how can we blame them if we don't know what happen. We do know it was down to NY and CHI and whatever we did it made it a tough decision for Melo to choose.. Took him over 10 days to decide. You also can't come up with what else we could have done. Look at the second sentence of my post. In the end, you can only judge on the result in this case since we don't actually know what happened. This isn't the first time we've struck out on a big name.
