  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) Link? I'm not going to bother to look for the posts since it's been 4 years, but I think it was pretty clear that you expected LeBron to be in Chicago. I think a lot of us did.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) To be fair, I never thought LeBron was definitely coming to Chicago. I was certain he'd never go to Dwyane Wade's team when he could go to Chicago or New York. Uh, yeah you did.
  3. So here's an interesting theory. What if Melo is using the Lakers as leverage for the Knicks to S&T him to Chicago? If it was only Chicago or New York, the Knicks can have leverage with money. But with a second team in the contest that can also give him similar money, that leverage kind of goes away.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 07:41 PM) No, I'm saying you exhaust options for Melo first, before moving on... signing Chandler Parsons to an offer sheet locks up 12 million of cap space for 3 days. Signing him to an offer sheet for 8 million does this, too (which is what I think he's worth), and I'd rather see what happens with Melo. I believe in Melo. I wasn't saying we should move on Parsons before Melo or anything. I don't think anyone is saying Parsons is a better option somehow. And Steve, to be fair, you believed in LeBron 4 years ago and look how that turned out. We need you to be pessimistic this time.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 07:05 PM) I love that guys reviews on phones. I watched a bunch of them when I was deciding on a new phone last October. That screen looks awesome. MKBHD's videos have great production value. And while he's not as specific as I would like in some of his reviews, they're all pretty good. It's amazing how he's at 1 million+ subscribers. I remember when I first started watching his videos, he had maybe 100K.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:55 PM) No idea who this is, but a friend texted me this and thought I would share Nobody, since they have 110 followers on Twitter.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:42 PM) Nobody wants the status quo but Parsons isn't the answer either. Get creative and figure something else out, we're always settling for 2nd tier players and f*** that noise, lets not do that this time around. And agreed about Jo, so lets not waste another year being stuck in NBA hell. I like wishing for the moon too, but let's not give the Bulls' FO too much credit here.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:41 PM) Remember when Melo would make his decision saturday. Then today. That was fun I think the whole Lakers thing convoluted this entire situation. If LA didn't come up, he'd probably be back in NY by now.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) This is exactly what I was saying. Teams with championship aspirations don't add Chandler Parsons at $12 mill per. That's that. If y'all are ok 50 wins and a 2nd round exit, which I'm not, then he's the guy you want. So you're saying we should just live with the status quo if we strike out on Melo and Love? I'd like to remind everyone that Joakim Noah is going to be 30 next year and is a free agent in 2016. We don't have a large window here.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) We'd be fine with Parsons, I think Steve understands that but Chandler isn't going to be the piece that wins us a title. Oh I agree. But we're probably not getting Kevin Love (trade or free agency) and honestly, we're not a legit title contender with Melo if Rose isn't good Derrick Rose.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:19 PM) Well, yeah, but Deng plays legit defense, and still anyone with a brain hated his contract. You don't win titles by giving Chandler Parsons 12 million a year. What the Bulls are looking at is trying to win titles, finally. A move for Chandler Parsons at $12 million/year would be right in line with what they were happy doing the last decade. Yeah, except we had a lot of that already. And let's not pretend that Parsons is somehow a defensive liability. He's 6'9 and he's pretty athletic. We lived with Mike Dunleavy at the 3 last year. I think we can live with Chandler Parsons.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) He absolutely is all of that, but he'd be a guaranteed 4 year 48 mill contract. That will severely limit the bulls going forward from being rumored to land the next superstar whom will spurn us. edited for clarity to show 12 million per year Now that I think about this again, I actually think Pierce is a much better fit for the team than Parsons if we're looking short-term. Parsons is a long-term move, obviously. He's young and he'd need a 4 year deal. You can probably get PP on a 2 year deal at a slightly lower price. Pierce is the type of player the Bulls desperately lacked last year: somebody who can shoot it in crunch time. He might only play 30-32 minutes a game, but with McDermott you can afford to have him do that. With a healthy Rose, Pierce you'd have two guys who can create their shot in isolation situations. It's not ideal since Pierce is nearing the end, but he actually had a very effective year last year in Boston despite the limited touches.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) Right, but this part: It would be fully unguaranteed in the two subsequent seasons, a la Keith Bogans, and thus not impinging at all on the 2015 free agency plan. Like I said, Hinrich would love to get paid $5 million to play basketball. The Bulls probably won't bring him back unless he's willing to play for the vet min anyhow.
  14. Gotta hand it to Apple here, that's an amazingly durable display (if it's the actual part). I'm not sure how much more expensive a sapphire screen would be compared to Gorilla Glass, but that should be on every smartphone.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) You're opinion doesn't matter since you believe Google has had good UI design prior to Android L, so...as the Rock would say, it doesn't matter what you think. Heh, someone's getting personal.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) He absolutely is all of that, but he'd be a guaranteed 4 year 12 mill contract. That will severely limit the bulls going forward from being rumored to land the next superstar whom will spurn us. If anything, Derrick Rose is going to severely limit the Bulls' ability to get a superstar in free agency in the future. He's being paid $20 million a year to rehab and unless he returns to his pre-injury form and stays healthy, he's going to be severely overpaid. In fact, the Derrick Rose rule (where guys finishing their rookie contract can get 30% of the cap instead of 25%) might cost the Bulls a chance to sign Melo. Without this provision, the Bulls would have around $4-5 million more to offer Anthony per year. In hindsight, Derrick winning the 2011 MVP might have been a very bad thing.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:32 PM) I mean, the main difference here is the waiving of boozer. WOuld Hinrich do this? That's the wrench I do not know. Hinrich would love to be paid $5 million a year to be kinda bad at basketball. I don't think he cares where he's playing.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) The incomparable Mark Deeks: http://www.hoop365.com/nba/eastern-confere...an-get-carmelo/ Must-read. That does help the Knicks quite a bit in terms of the tax next year. That trade does look pretty ridiculous though lol.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) I'm not sure I want a $12mil/yr Chandler Parsons. I like him though. He can shoot and space the floor for us. Sure, he's not Melo or Kevin Love, but he'll contribute offensively with his shooting and he can probably be a decent defender under Thibs given his size and athleticism.
  20. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) Would the Cavs be crazy enough to trade Wiggins for Love? Only if they get LeBron.
  21. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) Danny Granger, too Lol A few years too late. But you can't complain about 2 years and $4 million.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 02:32 PM) Isn't McRoberts the guy who gave LeBron a cheap elbow to the neck? Yup.
  23. Pierce is asking for $9-10 million from the Nets while the Nets are only willing to go with $6-8 million. In the case where the Bulls strike out on all better options (Melo, Bosh, Parsons, Hayward), would you give Pierce $9-10 million a year for two years?
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 02:24 PM) If LeBron goes to Cleveland, Bosh to the Rockets and Melo to the Bulls, I would laugh so hard at Wade. Yup, nobody should feel bad for him.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 02:23 PM) So that means no new free agents that would put them over the cap, correct? Well, if LeBron gets the max and Bosh and Wade get paid what they're worth, yeah. I mean, seriously, Josh McRoberts? He does a bit of everything for you and might be able to start at the 4 for Miami, but I don't think he really makes them all that much better. A guy like Gasol would have been a great get, but McRoberts seems like a mediocre consolation prize at best.
