Gotta hand it to Apple here, that's an amazingly durable display (if it's the actual part). I'm not sure how much more expensive a sapphire screen would be compared to Gorilla Glass, but that should be on every smartphone.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) You're opinion doesn't matter since you believe Google has had good UI design prior to Android L, so...as the Rock would say, it doesn't matter what you think. Heh, someone's getting personal.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) He absolutely is all of that, but he'd be a guaranteed 4 year 12 mill contract. That will severely limit the bulls going forward from being rumored to land the next superstar whom will spurn us. If anything, Derrick Rose is going to severely limit the Bulls' ability to get a superstar in free agency in the future. He's being paid $20 million a year to rehab and unless he returns to his pre-injury form and stays healthy, he's going to be severely overpaid. In fact, the Derrick Rose rule (where guys finishing their rookie contract can get 30% of the cap instead of 25%) might cost the Bulls a chance to sign Melo. Without this provision, the Bulls would have around $4-5 million more to offer Anthony per year. In hindsight, Derrick winning the 2011 MVP might have been a very bad thing.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:32 PM) I mean, the main difference here is the waiving of boozer. WOuld Hinrich do this? That's the wrench I do not know. Hinrich would love to be paid $5 million a year to be kinda bad at basketball. I don't think he cares where he's playing.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) The incomparable Mark Deeks: http://www.hoop365.com/nba/eastern-confere...an-get-carmelo/ Must-read. That does help the Knicks quite a bit in terms of the tax next year. That trade does look pretty ridiculous though lol.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) I'm not sure I want a $12mil/yr Chandler Parsons. I like him though. He can shoot and space the floor for us. Sure, he's not Melo or Kevin Love, but he'll contribute offensively with his shooting and he can probably be a decent defender under Thibs given his size and athleticism.

Pierce is asking for $9-10 million from the Nets while the Nets are only willing to go with $6-8 million. In the case where the Bulls strike out on all better options (Melo, Bosh, Parsons, Hayward), would you give Pierce $9-10 million a year for two years?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 02:23 PM) So that means no new free agents that would put them over the cap, correct? Well, if LeBron gets the max and Bosh and Wade get paid what they're worth, yeah. I mean, seriously, Josh McRoberts? He does a bit of everything for you and might be able to start at the 4 for Miami, but I don't think he really makes them all that much better. A guy like Gasol would have been a great get, but McRoberts seems like a mediocre consolation prize at best.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 01:14 PM) Could be...Just speculating... Bosh supposedly being offered a max deal by Houston.....Should that happen does anyone know if they'll be able to afford Parsons? He's been my plan C after Melo/Love for awhile now. I think they are able to match whatever offer Parsons gets, whether they're over or under the cap. The thing is, if they give Bosh $24 million a year and match Parson's $12 million offer, they'd be $5 million over the luxury tax. Also, signing Bosh is dependent on the Rockets' ability to get rid of Lin's contract.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 12:55 PM) That has La La written all over it...Happy wife, happy life right? I feel like the La La angle is a bit overplayed. They're rich as hell, they can fly to wherever the hell they want when they want. Just because Melo would play somewhere else doesn't mean they have to move there and stay there permanently.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 12:44 PM) But the Lakers and Knicks doing the same thing doesn't suggest that? I don't see the appeal in the Lakers at all. They suck. Kobe and Nash can't stay healthy. Gasol's not that good anymore and he might not even re-sign. Julius Randall's a nice piece, but he's a rookie. They don't have a center. So yeah...great roster. Even NY's a better situation. Oh and they also don't have a coach right now. Why the hell would you join them?

So did Sam Amico and a few other writers not named Broussard. It could be LeBron playing games again, or he might actually be returning for real. Who knows? But it's a rumor that has legs.

Chris Sale wins Final Vote
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) Sale deserves it more than Lester and Darvish, is the problem. Definitely more than Scott Kazmir. Great story and all, but there's way better pitchers in the AL. Sale's one of them, along with Kluber and Richards. You can make an argument for Keuchel as well. Hell, we should be pissed that Q didn't get a mention. 3.20 ERA and 2.88 FIP, 8th most fWAR in the AL among pitchers. The A's already had 5 all-stars before Kazmir. His inclusion seemed unwarranted. BTW, I actually think Lester and Darvish were good picks #2 and #3 respectively this year in fWAR. I was actually unaware of how good Lester's been this year before I looked his stats up just now.

Chris Sale wins Final Vote
The AL's final vote players are all pretty damn good, almost all extremely deserving. I'm not sure how Keuchel, Sale, Richards, and Kluber didn't get on the team. I guess part of it is just how stacked the AL is this year. It's actually hard for me to objectively vote for Sale since guys like Kluber have almost similar numbers, but a much higher innings load. I think Sale's going to get in anyways since a few guys who pitched on Sunday won't be able to play in the game.
