  1. It'd be nice to grab the first two against the Indians.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 08:19 AM) Billy Beane picks up a $10 million a year closer, which seems to fly against all he believes in, (as much as I think you should not be afraid to pay relievers, $10 million for Jim Johnson doesn't scream value to me at any angle) and said closer loses his closing role after 5 appearances. He'll eventually go back to being a closer again.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) At this point with the technology you can't just talk about LCD/LED/Plasma and compare them based on the TV-type alone. Each TV is different and unique and comes with certain technology that is going to aid with the picture. It used to be that Plasma's had the best blacks, but LED/LCD's have become much better and unless you're a real videophile I'd be shocked if anyone can really tell the difference without the two tv's being right next to each other (LED/LCD's of good quality I mean. Not the uber-cheap Sams/Costco models) It hasn't been said yet, but also grab a tv without all the extra internet crap on it. The tv companies charge you 2-300 bucks or more for that stuff and really it's not necessary when you can spend $100 on a roku/amazon tv box or $35 on a chromecast. There really is no benefit to having it all built in to the TV. Using my internal samsung stuff takes the same amount of time as my chromecast and the quality is all the same as well. This is very true. I've barely used my TV's smart functions (mostly stream with Chromecast or PS4). The only thing good about the TVs with the SmartTV functionality is that they might have more HDMI ports than the ones that don't.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) Go in-store, find what you want, then check Amazon. Samsung is the only brand I'll buy, but if I were to look elsewhere, it'd be Sharp or Panasonic. And go LCD. Trust me on this, LCD is the bomb for Blackhawks games. LED is iffy and Plasma is a big no-no. Be ready to have people in this thread tell you how wrong you are.

I gave in and bought an Xbox One. Mostly for Titanfall, but also for the nice TV features. Hopefully, the TV features actually work...
  6. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 10:51 PM) Here's a fun fact @CST_soxvan: Alexei Ramirez hit his second home run tonight. He hit his second of 2013 in his 113th game. Maybe Alexei's glad to have all these Cuban buddies on the team with him.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 10:02 PM) Best game of year for the pen Sox win 7-3. Webb is pretty damn good.
  8. Whenever our position players have major injuries, it's always worse than it actually looks. Avi was making good progress at the plate. It really sucks he had to go down, especially for a whole year.
  9. Jose Abreu is the real deal, but I think we all knew that already. And Salazar is just absolutely nasty. But he's prone to throwing some bad pitches.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 07:37 AM) I am building a Plex media server... pretty excite about that. I built one to about two months ago. I spent around $300, but I already had a processor to put in it. It's running fairly well. The only issue so far is that the transfer rates aren't great since my router isn't that fast (150 mbps).
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) The Astros game last night drew a 0.0 rating. That's bound to happen when only 15% of the people in Houston can actually watch the games. The games are blacked out in Austin, which has a decent amount of Astros fans, yet nobody is able to watch it because no cable companies carry CSN Houston here.
  12. Where the hell was Alexei playing on that hit? If he was in a normal positioning setup, he would have gotten to that.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Downs has looked awful since his first outing in Spring Training. Velocity seems way down for him. Yeah. 86.6 on the fastball, down 1.4 from last year.
  14. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 05:05 PM) Bullpens are a fickle bunch Downs has been good for a long time. I didn't remember him sucking this much. He is 37, so there's that.
  15. How the hell was Downs effective last year? He can't get anyone out this year.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) Totally feels like we will lose this and soon. Prove me wrong It all changed after Garcia got hurt. Scott Downs will probably walk Morneau and he'll end up scoring. We've seen this twice already.
  17. Tank got a hanger to hit, didn't get enough of it.
  18. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) Yeah, not really understanding how he has been absolutely torched in his 3 cups o' coffee with STL. I'd have to guess control. It's the only plausible reason.
  19. Cleto's got some nasty stuff.
  20. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Damn that guy is good at third It's pretty rare for a rookie to win gold glove (since it's usually a hitting award lol), but he did it last year. That's how good he was.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 04:33 PM) So why didn't Ventura challenge? He hadn't nothing to lose there. Well there was maybe a 1% chance we would have won that challenge. The rule is that the fielder has to either have a clean transfer to the throwing hand or show the ball to the umpire. Garcia didn't do either. I mean, yeah, he technically caught the ball, but that's not good enough.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) The pathetic thing is due to Viciedo's fielding in this inning, he'll end up getting more playing time. It was his plan all along.
  23. Garcia's gotta stop trying head first dives. It's not that nobody should do them, it just seems like he doesn't know how to properly dive head first.
  24. You might as well challenge that play. Doesn't hurt to.
