I would say we should call up Javy Guerra. But he also walks a ton of batters.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) You guys think I'm a moron for saying this all the time, but Nate Jones' arm delivery is awful. I only saw one other guy throw like that, Keith Foulke. I don't know how any pitching coach can allow him to pitch that way. Some of you guys who were pitchers ... do u agree with me?? His arm delivery is not conducive to anything positive. Yeah except he's been pretty damn good for the past two years... Jones will be fine. Something's not right with him right now. He also started out really slow last year.

lol we bring in out setup man to walk two guys and get the tying run to the plate. I find that comical.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) OK Nate, you have a 3 run lead, don't throw it away by walking everyone. lol and what does he do? Gets ahead 0-2 and throws 4 straight balls.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) Wrong about what? Above average doesnt not equal great. So we agree. It was more than above average in his first seasons with the Cubs. Link: http://www.hardballtimes.com/best-outfield-arms-of-2008/ Snippet

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) Every manager he's ever played for would agree. Guys with good arms don't play 2nd and LF. No guys who can't field play LF. Soriano was originally a 3B.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) If stats say he has a good arm, it's even more evidence those are garbage stats. The eye test says he throws like a girl. Yeah that's the worst argument ever.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Assists don't equal good arm. It simply means more teams are willing to run on you. Soriano throws like a girl. UZR and DRS don't agree with that, especially not at the beginning of his career. I don't know where you get the idea that Soriano can't throw. You can say he has awful range or doesn't know how to play the outfield (he looks so lost sometimes), but I don't think you can say he can't throw.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) Don't they both throw like girls? Only Gardner. Like I said, Soriano's arm basically made him an acceptable left fielder when he first started playing the position.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Soriano is your example the arm? I'd take Jermaine Dye over Soriano every day. Soriano has/had one of the best arms in baseball. He's regularly tops in OFers in assists (He's #4 among active players right now). UZR and DRS also liked his arm (especially when he first started playing the OF).

Quintana almost got speared by that broken bat. Nice outing though.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:06 PM) In RF?? No way, disagree. Range is more important than the fielder's arm in every outfield position. I'd rather have 3 Brett Gardners than 3 Alfonso Sorianos in my outfield.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) The first 3 games havent "proven" anything to me other than we look like we have more energy and confidence. Baseball is not a sprint. Garcia's never been known for his range, this really isn't anything new.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 03:03 PM) Who said it was unique? I asked if it was your opinion for clarification. I prefer him in right because of his arm, I like a strong arm throwing home from RF. Range is a hell of a lot more important than arm. As you can see in this game today.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) No it's not. It's not a law or anything, but teams tend to stick their worst outfielder in LF. I don't know if there's any real evidence to backup that LF is somehow the easiest outfield position, but from the very small sample size of data we do have on Garcia, he's atrocious in RF and CF, but not awful in LF in his VERY limited time. AND ADAM DUNN!
