  1. Ugh, that run last inning would have been nice. Good to see Dunn hit the ball hard though.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) I never go to games in April unless I'm going for free and am begged. There are 8 football home games a year, 2 of those may be really cold. There are 6-7x that many in april. Nobody wants to watch baseball in the cold. You kind of expect to watch football in the cold.
  3. Nice job by Webb to limit the damage and eat two innings.
  4. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:56 PM) Exactly, which is what they corrected. You're saying Plouffe would have definitely been safe since he was almost half way. I'm not sure you can assume that.
  5. Honestly, what kind of person would go to a 1 PM game on a 35 degree day in April?
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:55 PM) This Twins lineup putting up 5 runs against this bunch on a cold April day does not bode well. You can thank Nate Jones and Scott Downs for walking everyone.
  7. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:51 PM) Grinder Rule #1,816: take out the pitcher even when you make an out. Eaton should be the face of the grinder rule marketing campaign.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) Nope. He's not getting him at second even if he knows he drops it. Go watch it again. It's the correct application of the rule and system. Your last sentence is irrelevant, this is why they put replay in. Ultimately, it's actually Eaton's fault for dropping it. It's clearly not irrelevant since it affected how the players reacted after the call.
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:51 PM) Its unfortunate we have that piece of trash automatic out of a catcher starting today...watching him strike out for a full season again is going to wear on me Hopefully Nieto catches tomorrow.
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) Come Eaton, make up for that awful play right here and do your patented ground ball up the middle single. He almost had it. Except it hit Fien in the foot.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) Alexei is a walk machine! He almost got screwed out of the walk on the 3-1 pitch.
  12. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:38 PM) False. He only ran back after the out call. He was almost halfway to second. If the initial ruling is no catch, he's at second easily. You can't punish a baserunner for not knowing a call will be reversed on replay. See, these are the issues I brought up before. Instant replay isn't as easy as everyone thinks. You can say the same thing for the fielder. In the end, it's the umpire's fault for not making the correct call to begin with.
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Basically we got penalized because the umpire made a bad call. Because if he ruled it a drop from the get go, Eaton would have had him at 2B anyway. That's the part that makes absolutely no sense to me. You can't just give him 2B because Eaton dropped the ball. That's like assuming Plouffe would have been at 2B. But he clearly wasn't. He was running back towards first when Eaton "dropped" the ball.
  14. At least we made Suzuki look awful for once.
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:34 PM) So it was trap the umpire called him out and then replay showed a trap and the guy gets second? It's dumb. It's like they're emulating what would have happened had they made the right call or something.
  16. Wow, awful. Plouffe would have been out at second easily.
  17. lol why would he challenge this? Plouffe would have been out at second anyhow.
  18. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) Alright Webb hold them 2 runs in 3 innings is not impossible Minnesota's bullpen is actually pretty decent.
  19. Good thing Jones wasn't named the closer.
  20. Can we please figure out how to pitch to Suzuki? He's a career .250 hitter. Other teams aren't getting burned by him like we are.
  21. Paulino's still out there.
  22. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) He didn't want to stack 3 leftys b2b2b. If that's really the case, then he could have just went Sale, Quintana, Johnson/Paulino, Danks, Johnson/Paulino.
  23. Eaton sure loves hitting a lot of ground balls.
  24. QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) I'll take that start. If he's this years Hector Santiago I'm cool with it.....Perhaps pitching him behind Sale is a good idea with the thought that a lot of the bullpen gets the day off the day before. That's the idea. Our top 3 starters are Sale, Q, and Danks. But Robin spread them out so the bullpen can have some rest in case Johnson and Paulino both have short outings on back to back days.
  25. That might be it for Paulino. Good outing though. The second inning was painful to watch, but he was pretty good.
