This Philly Detroit game is crazy.

Beltran to Yankees
The Yankees are going to need to get an actual 3B. This Beltran signing didn't make a ton of sense. It allows them to DH Soriano, but it's much easier to get a DH than a 3B.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) So I understand, there is nothing wrong in fighting a war to take someone's land. You want it, you have the military strength, so go take it. Manifest destiny b****es! But seriously, Duke probably thinks colonization and enslaving Africans was also ok since the Europeans "won the war" and "wanted the land more".

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) Is it Kubiak's fault that Schaub is Carson Palmer 2.0 or is it Schaub's fault? Kubiak didn't make Schaub throw those pick 6s.

Well that's a group of absolute horror. The U.S. is going to have a very small margin of error.

Is Duke trolling? Because what he's been saying in this thread is offensive, even by internet standards...

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) Aren't, other then the Nexus, most of the other phones about the same price unlocked. I know the S4 is somewhere between 600 & 700 depending on the carrier (retail). Yes, for the most part. Smartphones are way too expensive for what they are.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 06:29 PM) I read that the next gen of iPhones might be covered in Sapphire glass, which is supposedly practically impossible to scratch or break. A phone that I can't damage is something that could tempt me back to the dark side... If that's the case, then a screen made of sapphire might finally justify the price tag of an iPhone (around $700 unlocked).

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 09:35 AM) Curved/flexible phones? Anyone think these have appeal? I just don't see it right now. The G Flex is interesting. It actually flexes and doesn't break. Plus, the back can "heal" after light scratches. On the other hand, that Samsung Galaxy Round isn't all that interesting.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm 2m Reds did not invite Brandon Phillips to Redsfest and sources continue to insist that he will traded between now and the end of the WTR Mtgs Philips is so overrated and probably over-paid at this point in his career.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) Salty to Miami. The catcher market broke the dam today. If that deal is less than $25 million, it just proves that the Sox are content with what they already have right now.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Tigers will pay Joe Nathan more than $20M over 2 years. Yikes. That deal's not a long one, so I think it's a very fair deal given how much closers get paid on the open market.

Lobaton traded to Nats
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 02:16 PM) Well, he was .246/.330/.406 in 198 PA vs RHP last year. Not exciting but Flowers was .213/.268/.393 in 198 PA vs RHP and Phegley was .190/.213/.266 in 166 PA vs RHP so it's definitely an upgrade. Yeah, Lobaton wasn't bad last year. He was definitely better than our catchers last year, by a long shot.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Everything i've read pointed me to the Samsung over S4 too. I also won't pay for a phone. I can't get the Nexus for free (although I could get it for like 29 bucks so close to it). I refuse to pay for a phone. You're paying for your phone right now, probably at least $20 a month. The carrier subsidizes your phones and then charges you for them on a month to month basis through their plans. T-Mobile is the only company that's actually making that transparent to the customer at this point, which is why their service is generally cheaper by $20-30.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 01:08 PM) A good phone should have that base for everyone and then allow the root feature for full customization for the small percentage of the population that want all that s***. You can disable those Samsung apps from the Apps page in Settings (assuming Samsung didn't take that ability away). You need root to get rid of them for good (since they're system apps), but you can disable them and they won't ever run or show up in your app drawer.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 10:06 AM) I had a change of heart on my computer, based in part on the fact that my shipping was delayed indefinitely, so I suspect they may be out of stock. So now...for $1400 I get the next year's model, the A730 i7-4700MQ processor 2.40 GHz 6MB cache 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM NVIDIA GeForce GT745M 2GB GPU 27" AIO QHD Multi-Touch 2560x1440 monitor 1TB 5400 RPM HDD Blu-Ray drive The HDD is the only thing holding it back from being a "perfect" computer IMO At $1400, you might as well build your own computer. That setup you have might cost you $1000 + whatever it costs for the monitor (won't be touch screen though).

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 02:28 PM) Terrible deal. Especially with the way the A's make pitching. Just not a move I'd make if I was them. Kazmir was pretty good last year, but expecting Kazmir to keep that up is not something I'd bet on.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) Realistically we have no idea what the defense would have been this year. We had guys out for the season in the exhibition season, and it has been downhill since. The only main defensive player who hasn't missed time is Peppers. And he was absolutely brutal before getting 3 sacks yesterday.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) The only thing that scares me about the Bears under Trestman is they are giving off a sort of Cowboys vibe. A talented offensive team with a bad performing defense and makes stupid ST plays and penalties all over the field, good for 8-8 every year. And we have Jay Ratliff. And their former ST coordinator.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 1, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) The length of the product cycles makes me want to kill myself. My HTC One is already considered outdated and it has aged better than all the other models that came out at that time. Well the HTC One is almost a year old. But yeah, in the mobile landscape, your phone can go from awesome to decent in like 6 months.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Dec 1, 2013 -> 11:54 PM) Pretty uneducated on this stuff, so I'm seeking some advice, on a 46" LED TV how crucial is the 60Hz/120Hz difference, particularly with sports/Blu-Ray/gaming? It depends on the TV you get. I've gamed on some 120 Hz TVs and it was awful due to the stupid motion effect they use. It was almost like it had input lag sometimes. I've also gamed on other 120 Hz TVs and it was awesome. I own a 120 Hz TV, but I honestly can't tell the difference between it and a 60 Hz TV (reviews have said this about my TV).
