  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) They only surprisingly made it to the Western Conference Finals after trading their highest paid player. NBD. Word has it that John Hollinger didn't get along with him. Bernstein was talking about this a week back, I think. Apparently, Hollinger wants to bring in a metrics-savvy coach.
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 07:22 PM) I agree with you on customization, which is why I jailbreak...but I don't think most users really give a s***...and to be honest, for all the customization I've done, I don't care either. The ONLY thing I'd miss from my jailbreak if I lost it is BiteSMS. But, MOST Apple users do NOT agree with you on customization. They simply do not care that much. They just want their computer/device to work when they try to use it, and they don't want to have to configure anything to do so. It's a different mentality. And believe me, I know where you are coming from...it's a mentality I don't understand either, but it's real. I like to customize and configure EVERYTHING, but it's not the Apple way, and it never has been. The WORST thing Apple could do is make a clone of Android, simply so they can say, "see, we can customize everything, too!" We already have that product. No need for a copy. What I was alluding to was an on-off switch for customization in iOS. If you don't like it, keep it off. If you want to tinker, switch it on. It's a hell of a lot easier than jailbreaking for the user and Apple doesn't have to worry about users jailbreaking to customize, which might also lead to app piracy. It's like easy mode on the Galaxy phones. Except the "easy" mode is the default Apple UI right now. I know Apple has no real incentive to do this from a profit perspective, but if they are going to keep saying how innovative they are, they might want to keep their word and do it.
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) THIS post is a bit better and less fanboyish than your first post, and worthy of an actual response. Apple still lacks the customization of Android, but it always will. Apple isn't shooting for this crowd, they never really have. They highlight simplicity over and over, especially with iOS7's key talking points. Adding massive customization, while nice for users like you and I, is NOT their target audience, who don't WANT to deal with anything like that. And despite widespread belief, there are a LOT of users out there like this, hence the money they're CONTINUING to make despite these overblown "declines". As for that home screen, that's incredibly reaching and fanboyish as a comparison, as it's based entirely off the wallpaper being somewhat similar. The lock isn't the same, hell, nothing else is remotely similar. And please, let's not pretend Google/Android invented the f***ing Helectiva font. That's stupid to a degree I cannot touch. The thing with customization is that you can have it, but still have a simple and intuitive UI. Sure, you don't want a 70 year old grandma wondering what widget she wants on her home screen, but to not have that option period and use the excuse that "it's not our target audience" is just lazy. Because I would imagine it can't be all that hard to come up with a feature that turns customization on and off based on what the user wants. Call the lockscreen thing what you want, but they're both actually live wallpapers too, with the exception that the iOS one moves only when the device moves. I'm actually hoping to get that wallpaper on my phone since the android phase beam is a little dark for my taste and I don't like wasting my battery on live wallpapers.
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 06:58 PM) As have jailbreakers, since about 2008, well before Android users. This comment shows you know little about the Apple mentality. And what exactly is the Apple mentality?
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 06:58 PM) That's about as dumb as possible. It's a wallpaper. Ooohhhhh, so similar. And, unoriginal, you stole that. It does look very similar. And let's not pretend Apple didn't borrow from its competitors. They did and I don't see anything wrong with that if it makes their OS better, because it seriously needed to be made better.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) iOS7 - implementing things Android users have been enjoying for years while changing the look to make it seem like we did more than we actually did. This was the moment that made me go "hmm..." There's nothing wrong with taking from a competing product that's better. Design-wise I like what iOS 7 has to offer. They finally got rid of the awful leather and gloss that was the look of something made in 2007 (you know, back when Vista was considered a pretty UI). Flat design is all the jazz these days. What's disappointing is that iOS still doesn't offer any real user customization like Android without having to jailbreak. They finally did get a better notification center and system toggles (FINALLY). But you could have gotten those things with jailbreak tweaks before.
  7. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) And people like Kenny Williams are why the Chicago White Sox are dying -- in the standings and at the box office. Rogers is a soldier. Williams was a general -- and a reckless one. How does Rogers actually know what's going on in the front office?
  8. Dave Martinez anyone?
  9. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Someone should. I'm something like 12-1 in the last games I've attended . Only thing is, that spans about 3 years prior to this and they were all in Seattle. The funny thing is that had the Sox not won in Seattle, I would have gone to the only two victories in the last 12 games.
  10. 5-0 in my last 5 games. Anybody want to buy me tickets to another game?
  11. It looks like Coop was right when he said Hudson was "high maintenance". It's a shame though, he was really good with AZ before he got hurt.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) The Last of Us getting tons of great reviews, including a 10/10 from IGN. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/05/the-last-of-us-review Very excited for it. I still need to finish Uncharted 3. >.
  14. HTC One Nexus edition will be on sale June 26th on Google Play for $599 unlocked. I'm very tempted. https://plus.google.com/u/0/110023707389740...sts/fcfH93she8A
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ May 29, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) Picked up the One today. Beautiful, snappy, awesome. Happy to be far, far away from iOS (and TouchWiz, for that matter) Has BoomSound destroyed your house yet?
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ May 29, 2013 -> 08:26 PM) Naw. Straight AT&T Unlock the bootloader through HTCdev.com. AT&T may force HTC to make the bootloader completely locked in the near future. Even if you don't need it to be unlocked, you never know what you might need to do down the road.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ May 28, 2013 -> 05:52 PM) I'm about to bite on the HTC One. Anything I should be reconsidering/waiting for before I go ahead and purchase? Your fate will be determined based on whether or not you buy the HTC One

    ARRESTED DEVELOPEMENT!!!!!!!ONE!!!
  19. The fact that we had to win on walk-offs against the Marlins is somewhat sad. But style points don't matter!
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2013 -> 03:08 AM) http://www.kansascity.com/2013/05/23/42528...cent-slide.html Dayton Moore "not panicking," says position players have to develop at the major league level...and pitching is a different issue (Herrera, their version of Nate Jones, was recently sent back down to AAA). Herrera not being on the team is good news for the White Sox.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 25, 2013 -> 08:51 AM) I think so, considering he is sort of on "probation" for doing this several times now. He said a few times "How long is it going to take?" Meaning either when will Angel Hernandez get fined or suspended, or perhaps even demoted, I assume...He then went on to mention just how commonplace it is for Angel to miss a call, including the "Just flip a coin, Angel" about 4 times... Those are pretty incendiary comments. Didn't Hernandez purposefully blow a home run call just to prove that he doesn't like replay (or something along those lines)? That alone should get him suspended. Hawk is right though, Hernandez constantly blows calls.
  22. Angel Hernandez is f***ing awful. How does he still have a job? And good to see Danks back out there with good control. Velocity still isn't quite there, but I'll take 6 innings of 3 run ball for a first start.
  23. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 23, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) I'm going to that game as well. My 5yo son's second ever game and my 3yo daughter's first. May use the code to score outfield tickets, but am also keeping an eye on Stubhub to see if anybody is willing to part with Gold/Platinum box seats really cheap. I got tickets to this Sunday's game on Stubhub for $18 bucks. Section 159.
  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 23, 2013 -> 09:46 AM) I can't tell if this is a serious statement or what, from a usually knowledgeable poster. You know damn well that USB3 didn't exist when Firewire was ousted against a vastly inferior USB2. Yes, USB3 is faster than a decade old technology. And Thunderbolt, just like Firewire before it, blows USB3 away with relative ease. The original post was something along the lines of how some radio station is switching over to all Macs and all Firewire TODAY. There is no point to do that TODAY. The fact that USB 3.0 is a decade younger than Firewire means absolutely nothing in the context of my post.
