GT: Sox vs. Other Chicago Team @ 7:10 CT (CSN)
QUOTE (WinningUgly85 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) Thanks I am paying for MLB TV but for some reason it keeps saying that I am blackout restricted. I know I have watched a couple of games with MLBTV on my playstation. Google Tunnelbear. Sign up, it's free. They give you 500 MB of bandwidth, which should get you through this game. It's a VPN client that routes your IP elsewhere so you won't get blacked out.

So Stewart's now given up 3 two-out singles, all of which were on the outside corner.

QUOTE (WinningUgly85 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) Can someone help me find what channel the game is on in Southern Illinois? I'm in Red Bird country down here. You might be out of luck. The Cubs' broadcast is on WCIU, which is a Chicago-only station.

Good to see Stewart induce some ground balls that inning.

Valbuena is annoying as hell. He's like the Indians equivalent of Alexi Casilla.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) De Aza and Rios looked like they were on a collision course. Can't wait to see Soriano in the outfield tonight. Sveum played it smart and DH'd him. Soriano in LF would have been a disaster.

For a guy with a sinker, Stewart sure gives up a lot of fly balls.

Every fly ball is an adventure.

lol @ Castro's OBP. If he doesn't hit .320, he's not a good hitter.

Wow that ball drifted for a LONG time.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) Cris Collinsworth or Todd Hollandsworth? By the way, note to the Reds. One, Latos sucks and gives up way too many gopherballs to make him worth the price they paid for him. Note 2: Never, ever throw Lonnie Chisenall a fastball over the plate. That's the only pitch he can actually handle. We all know Petco helped Latos quite a bit, but I didn't think he was this bad at controlling home runs.

Can we please find a big league 3B?!
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) But seriously, how do you throw a strike to Cats McShaggin? His OBP would be through the roof. There was once a midget who played in the bigs a long time ago, his only PA was a walk. He had a career OBP of 1.000 and an OPS of 1.000. Hall of Fame numbers.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) I ended up getting an HP Pavilion DV6t 15.6" Laptop on a steal from ebay. Gave that seller quite a once over to see if he was legit and he was. He is a graphics artist and decided he wanted something with a smaller screen for travel. Unfortunately (for him) he didn't make this decision until Day 23 of ownership and the HP return policy is 21 days. He never even installed Windows on it before putting it up on ebay. Booted windows from an external SSD and ran for 10 hours for me to make sure it wasn't a lemon. It has 11 months of factory warranty remaining, which DOES carry over to a second owner. He also has a return policy that allows me to return it to him if it has a bunch of out-of-the-box problems within 30 days. So what did I get for $650? • 2nd generation Intel® Core i5-2450M Processor (2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz) • 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics [HDMI, VGA] • 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) ((upgradable to 16GB)) • 640GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection • 15.6" Full HD HP Anti-glare LED (1920 x 1080) • Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner Seems like a pretty good deal, the only things I could have gotten to boost performance is a higher RPM hard drive or an i7 chip -- I'm happy with the second gen i5 that isn't even the slowest version of itself. I think 1GB of dedicated graphics should be plenty to watch MLB.tv lol. If not I'll upgrade the hell out of the RAM to compensate. Most thrilled that I got the 1080p monitor, I wanted dat resolution but it was a $200 option on new laptops This is a great deal. You got a 1080P display and a really nice discrete card.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) I have seen where Chris Johnson from Houston could be had. He's been a good, solid but by no means any kind of star at 3B and would be an upgrade over what we have. I can't see him having a super high price tage except for the fact that every GM has to know the Sox are desperate for 3B and will try to make them overpay. Johnson's not that good of a hitter. He sports a .720 OPS right now and his defense is pretty bad at 3B. If you get somebody, you'd like to aim higher.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) I really think you can...again, every time you bring in a new pitcher, doesn't matter HOW good he is, there is always a chance he doesn't have his great stuff that day. So when you have a guy that obviously DOES have his great stuff, and certainly isn't tired, you just don't pull him, barring some incredible advantage you can give yourself from a matchup perspective or something. That wasn't the case here. Quintana was cruising along. Jones has been pretty darn good this year as well...should we have brought him in to pitch the 8th? We're all literally playing the guessing game right now, which is a silly game to play when we're talking about using a pitcher in a game who had a 2.7 FIP coming into today. I'll say it again, we're not dealing with broken down Bobby Jenks. We're dealing with one of the best young bullpen arms in all of baseball.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) Get off your high horse. It's baseball. People have the right to first-guess or second-guess a baseball move. Me personally? I want to live or die with Quintana in that situation. It doesn't mean the Sox come away with a win there, but that's what I would have done. You have the right to do it, but that doesn't mean the manager is to blame all the time when a move he makes goes wrong. There are moves that look like crap from the start and end up blowing up in your face. You can blame the manager all you want for those. This was not one of them. Like I said, Addison Reed is a very capable closer, he's shown you that. He got a little unlucky today (especially on that hit and run with Herrera). It is what it is, you gotta move on.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) In all 8 save chances? For a saber guy, it surprises me you would pull out the "perfect" adjective. Tell me this...why not at least give the kid one batter? He was perfect in save situations, many of which were one run leads. And he is an extremely good pitcher from a sabermetric perspective. You'll have to ask Robin that, but there is no way that bringing in Reed was a bad decision. Call it what you want, but you can't get on Ventura for bringing in his best reliever and this is coming from a guy who has dogged him over bullpen usage the past few weeks.
