QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) I'd prefer to have Rios in that role. Beckham's main role needs to be as a run producer. the two hole is perfect for him. Rios has never been an OBP guy.

QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) I love people who hate Pods for no reason. Jealousy? average numbers: Aside from his OBP... Did you watch any Sox games this year? You understand the role of a lead-off hitter... right? horrible baserunning: He takes risks... Thats more than what you can say about 90% of MLB players. lousy defense: I count 2 E's this year. He's not Hunter or Ichiro... but lousy? Again, did you watch any Sox games this year? Yes, because errors are totally the way to judge defense, especially in the outfield... At best, Scott Podsednik is an average fielder, AT BEST and that's only because of his speed. His tendencies in the outfield are horrific to watch. About the base running thing, yes, players take risks. But he takes really stupid ones at critical times (see that 14 inning game against Seattle). His hitting this year was somewhat of a fluke, the only year where he's hit close to this well before was 2003 and 2005. His high slugging percentage along with a very good average (for him at least) do not correlate to numbers in previous seasons with exception to 2003. The likely hood that he's getting much better in his mid-30s is also pretty low. To say the least, this year was a fluke for him. His BABIP was .342, 20 points higher than his career average and his highest since 2003. But this was done with nearly a 50% ground ball% and a 18% LD%. Back in 2003, he had a 23% LD% and had a BABIP of .362. His numbers just don't match up well for anybody to say that this season is what Scott Podsednik will usually produce. Now, this year being a fluke doesn't take away from him having a good year, but I'm just saying. Banking on Pods next year to do the same and stay healthy isn't realistic IMO.
  3. QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) No doubt. But the type of year Zobrist has had is still pretty impressive, considering how little he gets talked about by the media. Zobrist's value is in his versatility, his offensive numbers are not as good as Mauer's.
  4. I think Gordon should stay at third. At first, I was iffy. But watching him the past couple of months made me realize that he's a pretty good 3B. His UZR/150 numbers actually prove that. He started out as like a -5. He ended up at -2, meaning that he was a +3 for the latter part of the year.
  5. Anything but Mauer is a travesty.
  6. Definitely Carpenter.
  7. Reimold - .279/.365/.466, 115 OPS+, .365 wOBA, 15 HR, 103 games, 411 PA, -10.7 UZR/150 in LF, 1.0 WAR Beckham - .270/.347/.460, 106 OPS+, .351 wOBA, 14 HR, 103 Games, 430 PA, -2 UZR/150 at 3B, 2.0 WAR Andrus - .267/.329/.373, 85 OPS+, .322 wOBA, 6 HR, 145 games, 541 PA, 8.5 UZR/150 at SS, 2.9 WAR Porcello - 30 GS, 165 IP, 14-9, 4.04 ERA, 113 ERA+, 1.35 WHIP, .270 BAA, 1.62 K/BB, 4.81 FIP, 1.7 WAR Romero - 29 GS, 178 IP, 13-9, 4.30 ERA, 102 ERA+, 1.52 WHIP, .277 BAA, 1.78 K/BB, 4.34 FIP, 2.9 WAR Niemann - 30 GS, 180.2 IP, 13-6, 3.94 ERA, 116 ERA+, 1.35 WHIP, .266 BAA, 2.12 K/BB, 4.07 FIP, 3.1 WAR Bailey - 68 G, 83.1 IP, 6-3, 26 SV, 87% SV%, 1.84 ERA, 226 ERA+, 0.88 WHIP, .173 BAA, 3.79 K/BB, 2.56 FIP, 2.4 WAR Andrus has a higher WAR because he played about 40 more games than both Reimold and Beckham. WAR also heavily favors defense since it's just straight up UZR, so I wouldn't actually say that Andrus would be better than Beckham if they played the same amount of time at their respective production levels. Niemann is clearly the best starting pitcher. They all pitched similar number of innings and games and Niemann had the best ERA+, K/BB, and FIP. Bailey gets discredited as a reliever with his WAR. But the guy has been very good as a closer. Honestly, rookie of the year isn't about who's the most valuable player, but rather the best rookie performance. I might have to give it to Bailey.
  8. No wonder he sucked hard in this past series.

Hermida's really never developed in these past few years. If we can get him for Fields, alright. But anything more than that doesn't seem to be worthwhile.
  10. You'd think the iPhone spell check would help him with his conventions.
  11. This defense needs to wake the f*** up. This turf is absolute s***, Peanut slipped twice on that last drive.
  12. Nice run by Cutler, but that was pretty damn scary.
  13. Forte with a big run, FINALLY!
  14. They threw that flag about 15 seconds after the play ended. Bulls***.

No. Health is an issue and the guy is an ass hole.
  16. Tigers and Twins both lose. They have a playoff on Tuesday with Jackson going against Scott Baker. Tigers win it 1-0. xD
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Well Minny, we're doing our part. You want the game tomorrow you gotta give us something in return. We want chunks of the dome. Or let Hawk blow it up in the near future.
  18. OVAH. Nice job by Freddy. I really hate to see the Twins win this thing, but 80 wins seems like a nice total to reach.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) Hey at this point I'm sure he'll take it. Good to end the season on a good note. His speed/stealing bases will be sure welcomed next season as well. When he's going as bad as he has, he should take anything. Maybe it can reinstall some confidence. That was strike 4 on Guillen right there... Ryan Raburn has some really good numbers, why doesn't he start? It makes no sense. Aubrey Huff is garbage.
  20. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Lil' Bridge having one of his best games despite the 8 men LOB. Please tell me that Nix is hurt. There's no reason for Lillibridge to play.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) Rios.. have yourself a night. He was going to get lucky sometime. He's had one solid hit today.
  22. Only the Tigers can lose to a team who left about 50 men on base and can't score more than a run with the bases loaded and less than two outs.
  23. Rios has two hits on bloop pop flies. What is this?
  24. I clicked this thread expecting to hear about a Konerko for Sandoval or Konerko for Rowand deal. You don't know how relieved I am that it was less ridiculous than those two.
  25. Looks like Carlos is back on track. If he were playing at the Cell, he'd be 3-3 with two home runs and a double. His OPS is back around the .785 range. Good to see him end the season on such a high note.
