Winter Meetings Thread
Arraez may be a fun player to watch, but his ceiling isn't real high and he mostly plays 1B/2B. His surplus value is not that high despite 3 years of arbitration.

Cause Ozzie still has connections in the org?

I know he's bad at 3B because his arm isn't very accurate. Looks like he was bad his rookie year but hasn't been nearly as bad since at 2B. It's not a huge sample though. I assumed he played 1B last year because Polanco was at 2B.

Nick Madrigal if he was left handed and actually stayed on the field. I looked at his defensive numbers at 2B, they're not bad. You can play him in the OF too. He's basically Adam Frazier if his one good half in 2021 wasn't a complete fluke.

Hey, Lucas Giolito is a top-tier pitcher right?

Twins are apparently shopping Arraez for pitching. Would you do a Giolito + prospect for Arraez swap?

2 years vs. 5. One guy has actually pitched 150+ innings recently. I'd take Verlander's deal all day.

That's definitely one way to replace deGrom.

I'm not sure why they need him when they just signed d'Arnaud to an extension

It's gonna be a top 40 pick too.

Mike Clevinger to Sox per Rosenthal
On Spotrac it shows the mutual option as already vested. It's a guaranteed $4 million.

Mike Clevinger to Sox per Rosenthal
Same question I had.

DeGrom 5/$185 to Texas
I'd rather give Rodon a bit less. He's 6 years younger and has pitched way more innings in the last 2 years. deGrom. when healthy, is far more dominant. But he's 35 and his main thing is velocity. Even if he manages to stay healthy, how long is he going to keep throwing 100+?

DeGrom 5/$185 to Texas
Maybe they're not all that confident in his ability to stay healthy.

Scratch That: Sox Interested in Wong...maybe...but Mariners Getting him
That's a lot more than I thought they'd get for Wong.

Quintana is more valuable to the Cardinals cause their defense is so good.

Now you see why Clevinger got $12 million.

They fucked up his sub against England too, tbh. He only played for 10 minutes but he was ready to sub on at least 5 minutes before that. Berhalter's subs have mostly been bad and untimely. Shaq Moore is awful and he keeps getting playing time late in games over Yedlin and Scally.

I really like their Candelario signing. He was a 4 WAR player in 2021.

Adams and Musah should see a huge boost to their reputation and value after this WC. Adams could get a transfer to a big team. He simply doesn't make mistakes as a holding mid and covers so well for our defenders. Musah is only 20 with a huge motor and already plays at Valencia. Both are playing out of their minds for us. Musah will be a monster with 4 years of development at a big club. Our midfield should be amazing by 2026. We just need somebody up front to finish our chances.

Probably because he's not fit to play more than 30 minutes. I think in a situation where we have to play for a goal late in the game he would make a lot of sense. We haven't really been in those situations so far.

I thought Sargent played well today. He held the ball very well and looked miles better than Haji Wright. I hope he and Pulisic are good to go for Saturday.
