  1. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) If this is completely Bryce's decision, I got no problem with it. But I highly doubt he wanted to spend his childhood and teen years doing nothing but play and practice baseball and miss out on the two best years of high school. It's because of this stuff that I wouldn't be surprised if Bryce's parents have/had him take HGH or Bryce took HGH to live up to his parents expectations. Also, think about the risks that go into signing him. He is gonna be demanding a lot of money (and from what I've read in stories, it sounds like his dad is gunning for an early retirement), and think how much of a risk it is to give a 17 year old who's never been by himself and never had a childhood several million dollars. Plus, the whole thing with him being by himself finally, he could go the Todd Marinovich route and get addicted to drugs and waste all his money. Also, I've heard some reports of him being a very lazy player on the field and being extremely cocky. From all the attention he's getting, he could feel like he's the best player since Babe Ruth. I just can't picture that... Parents: Son we want you to become a great player. Take some HGH like Barry Bonds and Jason Giambi. Bryce Harper: Alright, whatever you say.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) His parents are asses. From everything I have read and how they're taking him out of HS early, I think it's certainly a possibility that they are just using him for their own gain. They really are... They're trying to have him make the big bucks early, but they're possibly rushing him as well. Boras is this kid's adviser. It wouldn't be beyond me if he was the one who made up this plan.
  3. Why can't he just go away from Chicago for good?
  4. By the way Hawk was so excited, you would of thought this was the best win of the year and it might be.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Could you imagine how good Buehrle would be as a hitter if he didn't try to pull everything due to Walker's teachings? He pulled the ball twice today...lol.
  6. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) LOL, Hawk with the Hell Yes The FCC won't like that.
  7. AJP had a day to remember. Watching Bobby pitch sure makes for great suspense. But it's not all that fun...
  8. Mark's done everything to help himself out this game. He should be our next hitting coach, lol. After all, he faces hitters all the time.
  9. There we got Scotty!
  10. G-man with his second double in two games.
  11. Well Mark gives a homer right back...
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) MB's HR made me even more sad about the offense, to be honest. Yup. I just wonder what Kenny was doing all off-season. I mean, he tried to get Peavy. In the meantime, Bobby Abreu went by at $5 million for one year and O-Dog went for $4 million annually for the next two. Those guys could have made this offense so much better.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Mark Buehrle now slugging 4.000. With an OPS of 5.000. His OPS+ is probably around 500.
  14. Looper's falling behind our hitters and we reward him with some groundouts. This is some awesome hitting. Our guys should take some hitting lessons from Mark on how to hit a bad pitcher.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) That was awesome. Garland went yard in Cincy a few years ago, didnt he? And Ed Farmer had an orgasm.
  16. This is f***ing unbelievable. Take that s*** Jeff Suppan.
  17. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) cubs fired their hitting coach...leaves me wondering when walker will go...but i get the feeling that won't be til ozzie goes...which likely won't be soon Wow. Looks like they actually want to solve their problems, unlike us.
  18. I have a feeling he might be perfect for 9 innings going against this lineup. Edit: You can cancel the postgame show.
  19. Ozzie should have put Nix in right today and have him hit 5th.
  20. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Alexei Ramirez is one of the worst 2-hole hitters I've seen in a long time. He's better suited hitting everyday 6th or 7th. He seems to be absolutely clueless how to handle a baseball bat once Pods reaches base When he's forced to do something, he's terrible at it. Just put him down in the order and let him swing away.
  21. Wise is hitting 5th? OMFG, this game is going to BLOW.
  22. So they're making him go to a community school just so he can be eligible earlier for the draft?
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Little know fact: Matt Thornton despises people who wear their sunglasses at night. So he hates Corey Hart?
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) No one is going to come close to giving him that money. This isn't the market 2 years ago. Here's why he probably will: Scott Boras. The Yankees look like they need an outfielder and that stadium is the AL's new launching pad. Looks very good for Holliday. If he gets traded to a contender and does well in the playoffs, he is going to get that kind of money whether we like it or not.
  25. Jose is back in late 2005 form. Bacon was pretty close to homering.
