  1. Velasquez already cost $3 million. Cueto's going to want at least $5 million. That's already $8 million of the $18 million QO we should have offered to him.
  2. That trade makes a lot of sense for both sides, but didn't Meadows get hurt yesterday?
  3. Paddack is actually very similar to Giolito. Except his change up isn't as good and he doesn't have a slider like Lucas' to keep hitters more honest. But before last year, Giolito was basically a 2 pitch pitcher as well. One redeeming quality of Paddack is that he still had good peripherals and his velocity actually went up a bit last year. Add on the fact that the Sox developed a very similar pitcher and I think he has room to grow in the org.
  4. Then he's gonna b**** and moan and be a clubhouse cancer like he is in San Diego right now. No thanks.
  5. Unless our coaching staff can teach Hosmer how to lift the ball, I'm gonna hate watching him play no matter how much he's getting paid. He's basically Leury Garcia at first base. Also, how does the $30 million work in terms of CBT?
  6. He's definitely a better option than Velasquez
  7. The Twins were looking at Cueto and signed Archer instead. That either means you should want Cueto cause Minnesota's track record of picking up FA SPs has been terrible recently or Cueto looked so bad that Minnesota didn't even want him.
  8. It almost seems like he just has poor hand-eye coordination. You can only teach people to be good at something if they've got the physical ability to do it.
  9. Collins just doesn't even bother to present the pitch. I've never seen someone stab at the ball like him. He'll also catch the ball with his glove sideways at times. No umpire is gonna give a pitcher a call on those. McGuire is obviously really good at it. Better than Grandal.
  10. Ugh, so he'll be out at least 8 weeks I'm guessing?
  11. I thought Yoan hit that one out.
  12. Defense really screwed him this inning.
  13. Jose probably should have had it
  14. Yikes Yoan...3-0 count and all he can do is dribble it back to the pitcher.
  15. To give you an idea of just how bad Collins was last year defensively: The Sox as a team had a -40 DRS combined in 2021. Collins was responsible for -18 of that in 78 games. McGuire was +2 in the same amount of games.
  16. He flashed all his power in parking lots everywhere.
  17. Collins may be a better bat with a bit more of a ceiling at the plate, but he just never made enough contact to stick as a hitter. His framing and defense was also some of the worst in baseball last year. It was time to move on.
  18. What the hell happened to McGuire's power these last 2 years? He went from a .200 ISO to 2020 Nick Madrigal the past 2 years.
  19. In all seriousness, McGuire is a great framer. We needed to make this deal.
  20. Hope he hits some jacks all the way to the parking lot for us.
  21. He had the 2nd to last batter struck out. Ump just didn't give it to him.
  22. I'd rather have Alex Cobb for $10 million this year than those 2.
  23. FUCK THE PADRES
