  1. Abreu vs. a sinker baller with a 70% GB rate with a guy on first is just asking for a double play.
  2. TA looks like he's not running well
  3. Kimbrel wanted to come to the Sox and be a setup man? I really don't believe that.
  4. Red Sox looked more lifeless than we did.
  5. I would rather have used Crochet in the spot against Brantley. Instead we used him a few innings later when it was a 6 run game.
  6. Cora just pulled Rodriguez after 1.2 innings. Really makes you wonder why La Russa let Lynn pitch to Brantley. Lynn had given up hard contact that entire inning. That was basically the inning that broke the camel's back. Had we gotten out of it without any runs, it might have been a different game. We were close to putting up 3-4 runs in the last few innings.
  7. Well if we get swept it clearly means we're just not talented enough to compete with the elite teams. I know that's hard to believe considering we were 2nd in baseball in fWAR this year, but we also ended up playing lots of games against a very bad AL Central and we beat the shit out of the Orioles, Cubs, and Rangers. We'll see how the rest of the series plays out, but we have some pretty obvious holes in this lineup and some of our core players aren't living up to their potential (Eloy).
  8. I wonder why we play so poorly on the road this year. We had similar records at home and on the road last year. Is it really just a home crowd effect?
  9. We need to be patient against Valdez tomorrow. I've had him in fantasy baseball this year and followed him a bit. He's been pretty wild in the 2nd half. A lot more walks and way more inconsistent. But the fact that he gets so many ground balls gets him off the hook at times.
  10. Only good that came out of it is that the offense looked a bit better against guys not named McCullers and they used the backend of their pen in a game they had a 99% chance of winning after the 5th inning.
  11. Man why can't Altuve have the yips again?
  12. Feels like he's straight up guess hitting sometimes in 2 strike counts. Which is definitely something no good hitter should be doing.
  13. Eloy's new thing this year is looking at strikes in the zone for strike 3.
  14. I've been saying this since that first series in Houston: to beat this Houston team we gotta get their starters out early, even if we don't hit them that well, cause we can hit their pen.
  15. We've had quite a few duck snorts the last 3 innings.
  16. Astros bullpen is ass outside of him. They probably don't want us scoring anymore.
  17. Open or closed, Grandal's hit wouldn't have been a homer in any stadium except maybe Coors. He hit it hard, but not hard enough to hit it out with a 20 degree launch angle.
  18. That was all about timing. He should have read the room. You can make that trade when the other team isn't in the opposing dugout. IIRC, they had also just came back against them the night before. Just really bad timing.
  19. I remember when Jake Lamb came within 5 feet and a really nice play from Taylor Trammel from walking him off.
  20. Yeah easy to look good when the other team has a 98% win expectancy.
  21. Well, the good thing is that their 2nd best reliever won't be available tomorrow and also looked like crap.
  22. He needed to be a bit more under that one to hit it out. He got the exit velo, just a bit low on the launch angle.
