I'm not saying they're that alike other than the fact they're both college hitters who destroyed college pitching. The fact that their hitting mechanics look kind of similar just gives me some PTSD. Roch is a much better athlete relative to other SS than Vaughn is at 1B. So I doubt we see Roch hit the physical wall that ended up dooming Vaughn. Roch is 100% the safer pick with the highest floor. You don't see a lot of 65 FV prospects coming out of college. I don't really think the Sox should overthink it. We tend to get prospect fatigue with guys who are locked in as the #1 pick early like Roch and Caleb Williams. But they got that hype because they are special.

That's some Andrew Vaughn PTSD right there. His batting stance is also kinda similar to Vaughn's, which doesn't help.

His hit tool is not great and that was the concern with him as a prospect. He can definitely still improve, but I don't think we'll ever see Colson hit close to .300 over a whole season. That's just not his game. You'll get 40 HR potential and very good defense at SS, but you're gonna have to live with the Ks and low batting average.

Colson and Kelenic swung through some hangers that last inning. Quero needs to go back to AAA and work on his mechanics. He's an absolute mess at the plate right now.

I'd love to extend him, but I think the team needs to think real hard about giving him a mega deal. Guys with his hitting profile do not age well. We saw it with Adam Dunn. He aged horrifically after 31. Joey Gallo fell off right after 27. Mune is not the same as those guys and I think the league's assumptions about him have been wrong so far, but he would have to be a true unicorn to not fall into a similar pattern. Mune still has another 5 years before the usual fall off age for his archetype, but if you sign him to a 10 year deal, he might be useless for the latter half of it. This is usually the case for most big free agent contracts. Whether or not he gives you the value prior to his fall off will be the key.

I'm not sure if the drive line stuff screwed up Quero's swing or if Quero's been on this downward spiral for a while. He was awful in the last month of 2025.
