They really should be 6-6 with competent coaching. They lost 2 games where they held a 98%+ win expectancy. I'm kind of afraid that if the defense keeps playing this well, the guys at the top of the org might think they should keep Eberflus.

Lance Lynn to StL on 1 year deal
Lynn is cooked. His issue was homers, not the defense behind him. He gave up the most homers in baseball last year and that didn't stop when he got traded to the Dodgers.

Win would have been nice, but terrible in the grand scheme of things. A win would have knocked you out of the top 5 in draft position. This loss was pretty much squarely on the coaching staff. They had ample opportunities to go up by 3 scores, instead they kicked 3 field goals because they were content with 3 points and the play calls on 3rd down telegraphed it. The defensive head coach's defense then let Detroit cut through his defense without any resistance and gave up 15 points in 5 minutes. It's hard to blame the players when you were content not scoring more points, thinking your defense was good enough. This and the Broncos game, and to an extent, the Washington game were all great examples of just how bad this coaching staff is at playing with a big lead. They get complacent on defense and run extremely safe and low yardage plays on offense just to allow the opponents back in the game. That's not winning football.

Bummer to ATL
Good way to have a combined batting average of .400

Bummer to ATL
Yeah Lopez and Soroka were most likely non-tenders.
-
Bummer to ATL
Lopez has been worthless with the bat but his defense and base running have made him a 1 WAR player each of the past 2 seasons. That's something at least. He can't be any worse than TA or the awful 2B the Sox have trotted our there the past 2 years.

Bummer to ATL
On one hand, I'm glad I no longer have to watch Bummer get BABIP'd to death. But now I have to root for Nicky Lopez to BABIP the other team 4-5 times every game. Ugh.

Bummer to ATL
He can still do it 14 times a year for the Tigers. And maybe 5 Tigers fans might know where Naperville is.

He's holding onto the ball forever and making terrible panic throws. It's like Fields without any talent.

Sox to Pursue DeJong per Sox Machine
The fact that DeJong had a higher wRC+ than TA after DeJong went 12 for 93 after being traded is...telling.

Grady Sizemore added to coaching staff
This actually seems like a good hire, WTF?
-
Craig Counsell
Look at what the Brewers were providing him. They're a cheaper version of the Sox, except they had a competent FO and manager.

Craig Counsell
The Chicago White SoX, presented by X, formerly known as Twitter. I'm pretty sure if Elon bought the Sox, the first thing he'd do is fire 75% of the team's employees. He'd also just retweet stuff from ChiSoxFanMike with "interesting" and "concerning". Alas, this is still an improvement over the current ownership.

2024 Offseason Plan - "Try" to Compete Edition
Just don't let him start a team fantasy football league.

2023 World Series- Rangers/Dbacks
Look at the Rangers' offensive numbers last year and compare them to this year. 7 of the 9 regulars on this World Series team played regularly in 2022. The only 2 who didn't are Jung and Carter. The Rangers are a very similar team this year from a position player standpoint. They improved their pitching through free agency this year, but their improvements on offense came from Seager and Semien having better seasons and Heim, Taveras, Garver, and Garcia improving a lot.

2023 World Series- Rangers/Dbacks
This Rangers team had a lot of the same guys on offense last year and they were nowhere near this good. Bochy and his staff definitely played a role in them improving. Now imagine if we could have taken that and put it towards the 2021 White Sox... I don't think I can ever forgive JR for hiring La Russa.

Tony La Russa
Now that he's won a World Series in an odd-numbered year, yes.

2023 World Series- Rangers/Dbacks
He wasn't actually good until 2019. He was pretty mediocre for the A's until Ron Washington taught him how to defense. Then he learned that elevating and pulling the ball = homers and he's been pretty good ever since.

11-0 on the road in the playoffs. That might never happen again.

Just hire Harbaugh and give him the reins. Get rid of Poles. The guy has no idea what he's doing. This whole Sweat and Johnson situation is a gigantic mess. Sweat said today that they haven't even discussed an extension and he wants to "consider everything around him" before signing anything. Word was that Atlanta had a trade worked out for Sweat with an extension in place, but the Bears outbid them at the last minute. So there is a chance that Sweat won't sign an extension and you'd have to tag either him or Johnson. So you can't retain both. Johnson also doesn't seem like he wants to sign an extension. So now 2 of your best players on defense seem like they don't want to be here and you can only keep one of them. Whoever you don't tag has a ton of leverage in extension negotiations and can just rake you over the coals. You'll end up pissing off the guy you tag. Good job Poles.

2023 World Series- Rangers/Dbacks
Getting the Rangers to use Leclerc seems like a minor win for the Diamondbacks in this scenario. You're never going to win a game you were down 11-1 in, but making the other team use their closer is at least something.

2023 World Series- Rangers/Dbacks
Rough for the Rangers. Not having Adolis might cost them the series. Once again, a right fielder screws the Rangers in the World Series (this really isn't his fault though).

He's a pure rental. And maybe there were some real medical concerns about him so he doesn't make as much sense for the Bears. But there's no way Sweat is worth a pick that's 50 selections better than Young. Both are going to hit free agency. Poles got fleeced...again. His trade deadline deals have both been huge overpays. It makes no sense to me that this guy refuses to overpay for FAs and even pay his own players fair market value, but he goes all out on trade deadline deals with draft capital.

The Velus pick and the Claypool trade were already awful enough for me.

lmao, Bagent was basically telling the whole line he's gonna hard count at the line and they still didn't get it.
