  1. Nobody is hiring Dennis Allen as a HC. He already failed twice. That's about as many chances as you get in the NFL. There's definitely a chance Bieniemy, Doyle, and Harris will be poached. Bieniemy may get another shot at OC and Doyle might get a chance to call plays elsewhere. Although I feel in Doyle's case, he may want a few more years of experience with Johnson since he's still under 30.
  2. Apparently Fairbanks wanted to pitch somewhere warm because of his Raynaud's syndrome. He would have struggled in April/May in Chicago if that's the case.
  3. Yeah I'd rather gamble on Murakami for like $10 million more. Pirates were in on him as well.
  4. Yeah, FG is usually 5-10 pts behind in grades compared to MLB pipeline.
  5. If we don't get Fairbanks, Dominguez is still available. Taylor Rogers is also available, but he's pretty washed. The Cubs even left him off their NLDS roster.
  6. I'd rather they waste $4.5 million than trade for guys like Booser with a 19 year old prospect.
  7. 1.7 fWAR last year in 92 innings, which is a lot for a reliever. I think he was a multi inning opener for Boston. BABIP was .344 and he still put up good numbers, so this wasn't all just a lucky year. Definitely came up out of nowhere last year, but it's a great signing for $4.5 million.
  8. Honestly if they have to trade draft assets for someone I'd rather trade up for Rueben Bain. If he keeps playing like he did this past weekend he's going top 10. Would you rather trade 2 firsts for a guy with 5 years of control on a rookie contract or 2 firsts for a guy over 30 that's gonna require $30 million a year? I'd rather do the former.
  9. Yeah they'd need to cut Edmunds and some other guys to make room for a guy making $30 million a year. Their current cap space next year is around $10 million and that's without re-signing guys like Byard. They can backload the contract and get creative, but they would then be pretty strapped for space the next few years.
  10. Making the playoffs for this team is an amazing achievement after starting 0-2. I think we all know anything beyond this is house money for this team as they are far exceeding expectations. But in the NFL, you need to take advantage of every opportunity regardless of what people thought of you prior to the season. Because things can unravel fast. I think we need to take a look at what happened with the Lions and Commanders recently. Washington and Detroit both made the NFC Championship game ahead of schedule but neither will be in the playoffs this year while both are in the middle of their competitive windows. It's not going to be the end of the world if this team gets bounced in the playoffs, but I think they really need to capitalize on their momentum this year and make a run. Because it's never a guarantee they'll be back in a similar spot next year.
  11. It definitely felt like the refs didn't know wtf happened. The ruling on the field definitely should not have been a TD. If anything that just riled up that crowd up for disappointment.
  12. There's a reason they put those games up against the NFL games...cause they knew nobody would be watching anyways.
  13. The trend I see with a lot of big name Japanese hitters that come over is that they excel for the first few months, the scouting report catches up to them, and then they need to adjust to survive. Fukudome and Seiya Suzuki both started off hot and sizzled out as their first season went along. Fukudome never adjusted and Suzuki did. It could be different now that scouting is more advanced, but I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Murakami does well initially.
  14. Does Murakami have a big following in Japan? I know he was insane 3 years ago but he's dropped off in recent years. Surely he's a bigger name than Seiya Suzuki right?
  15. I'm not religious...but it sure seems like Pope Leo isn't hurting our fortunes right now
  16. The asterisk is that he will play left shortstop. Meidroth will play right shortstop, also known as 2B.
  17. Maybe this will force the team to actually spend some more money on a closer and starter. This doesn't align with our competitive window at all but you don't throw $41 mil and 2 years at this guy just to watch this team blow 20+ saves again.
  18. This is how I'm thinking about it. Sure O'Hearn is safer, but the upside with Murakami is insane. I can't hate that they're trying here.
  19. Burkhardt's emotion in big moments is what makes him so good. He and Brady were basically yelling the whole time for the last 2 minutes of regulation and OT.
  20. Well they're kind of forced to now. Caleb has had a ton of options to throw to since day 1 with the Bears. This is probably the only time where DJ is our only good receiver still healthy.
  21. I haven't been around long enough to see Bears Packers games from the 90s...so my experience in this rivalry has mostly been the Packers kicking our ass after the Lovie years. I know there's gonna be some recency bias in this, but this has to be the best Bears Packers game in the last 30 years right? I'm sure Packers fans might say the 2013 week 17 or 2018 week 1 might be better cause they won, but none of those games featured 10 pt come backs with 5 minutes left and a walk off touchdown in OT.
  22. This was like watching a Eberflus defense. They sat in zone all game and never got much pressure rushing 4. Allen getting beat deep twice in the last matchup made him extremely conservative. It would have worked better if the offense didn't keep stalling right outside FG range for most of the game.
  23. This was Caleb's breakout moment. The throws to Walker and Moore were absolutely insane. It's crazy how he just activates when he's in gotta have it situation.
  24. DJ Moore needs to earn his contract this Saturday.
  25. Did @Chicago White Sox write that?
