6-19 GT: Sox @ Astros (6:15pm)
I hadn't looked this up until today, but it really validates what I've seen during games this year. He's hit some low 90s fastballs out and he's a smart enough hitter to guess off-speed in certain counts, but his days of hitting high 90s fastball well are probably over. Father time always wins. I hope I'm wrong, but the numbers really don't do him any favors.

Most of our lineup can't hit high velocity. Moncada, Grandal, and Abreu are all hitting well under .200 against high velocity fastballs. Moncada is hitting .091!

Jose vs. fastballs over 95 MPH this year: .158 BA and .237 SLG. Jose vs. fastballs over 95 MPH last year: .371 BA and .857 SLG. Jose vs. fastballs over 95 MPH in 2019: .348 BA and .623 SLG. It's night and day really.

How did that ball not drop? It just hung up there forever.

Stanek has been bad this year and we're making him look great.

Jose can't catch up to the fastball anymore.

We still have a shot. 3 run deficit against their bullpen isn't impossible if our hitters decide to wake up.

Ruiz's change up is a meatball. Please just stick to curve and fastball.

Valdez was clearly running on fumes and was lucky we didn't tag him for a 2nd homer that inning.

TA almost got him and I doubt he was gonna get a better pitch to hit than that fastball.

Yup. Swung at 3 balls, all curveballs.

Dusty having flashbacks to 03 by leaving his starter in for too long.

TA just missed that.

I'm surprised Valdez is still in the game.

Also is Yermin on 3rd if it didn't hit him?

Not sure that hit him. Maybe it got him on the foot?

What do you call Toro and Garcia playing better than Bregman the past 3 games? That shit happens in baseball. If we look this bad against the Pirates and Mariners next week I'll start really worrying. I agree we need reinforcements, but it seems like our entire offense can't hit with RISP right now and I don't think that'll be the case for the rest of the year.

Remember when the Astros got swept by the Tigers? Slumps happen to even the best teams.

The Astros got their asses handed to them by Oakland in the regular season last year and had no problem beating the A's in the playoffs. October baseball is different.

Lance's ERA this game is right in line with what the Astros did against him last year. They just have his number.

The silver lining is that we've played our asses off before this series to get to 18 over .500. At worst we lose these next 2 and head into the last 3 weeks before the ASB at 14 games over .500. We don't play a single team over .500 in those 3 weeks. Go 12-6 in that stretch and we're sitting at 20 over at the ASB. You just hope our struggles this series convinces the FO that we need offensive help in order to compete in October. Because we can't waste good starts like last night and put this much pressure on our starters. It feels like if they give up more than 2 runs that we're not gonna win.

Yermin looks like he's in a bad place right now.
