NFL Thread 2020-2021
They can always franchise tag Robinson if they get someone like Wentz. But then like you said, they can't add anything on the o-line to protect him.

Folty signs with Rangers
I'm sure if the Sox had a guaranteed spot for him with an MLB deal, he would have came here. He's from the Chicago suburbs. One of my friends in college actually caught for him at Minooka.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
He did say he wanted one year deals. This is almost that.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
It took a while, but Bauer got pretty much everything he wanted.

They need a better offensive line before they bring in a QB who's only had success when he had an elite o-line blocking for him.

lol absolutely. I think Wentz is probably fixable, but I don't think he'll ever be the QB he was in 2017 pre-ACL injury. However, if I'm giving up at least a first round draft pick and picking up at least $60 million in guaranteed money, I better be getting a decent QB in return. Right now Wentz is not that.

The only thing he was accurate on was White Sox related stuff. And that's probably because he's KW/JR's mouthpiece.

If Wentz costs 1 first rounder and Carr takes 2, I'd take Carr just about every time.

I had Wentz in fantasy in 2019. He was consistently mediocre.

Jonathan Lucroy signs minor league deal with White Sox
Is this the good news Hector was talking about?

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Archer got $6.5 million. I can see why the Sox ended up with Rodon.

Sox resign Rodon 1 yr /3m official, Vargas DFA
Rodon should just be a reliever at this point. He had great velocity in the times he did come out of the bullpen. He just couldn't throw anything for strikes. His issue has more or less been staying healthy and being a reliever will help alleviate that issue quite a bit.

Joc to Cubs
This so much. We have Engel to play vs. lefties. It was a perfect situation for someone like Joc, but we instead got an older guy who helped blow up the clubhouse 5 years ago.

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
Turns out the offer was non-existent.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
I feel like if you're Minny, you can't afford to lose Cruz to your biggest division rival. If that means going 2 years, you have to do it. In the end, I think Cruz will get his 2 years with the Twins, because I doubt the Sox will give him 2 years.

Kind of like that pitch Ruiz threw to Jose Ramirez in Cleveland.

Gordon Beckham retires
He just had a hole in his swing. He could never catch up with high heat in and never pulled inside pitches well. Once pitchers found that out half way through his rookie season, he was screwed. Like you said, he tried to adjust and tinker, but it never worked.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
It could be that the FO wanted him back and Ozzie vetoed it. I still can't forgive Ozzie for not bringing back Thome. That move cost us the division.

Gordon Beckham retires
I remember back in 2010, MLB Network made an all-MLB team for 2020 and Beckham was on that list as the 2nd baseman. It's sad that it's 2021 and he's now retired. It started out so well and ended so poorly for Gordon.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
I think this is one of those issues where we think about it when we get there. Because you gotta make sure you get there first.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
The fall of power hitting first basemen/DH types is never pretty. EE's decline was just like Konerko's. He went from being a 30% better than average hitter to being 30% below average in the span of a year. I don't think it's unreasonable as to why Cruz's market is so low. Nobody really wants to commit more than a year to him just in case he falls off a cliff.
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
I'd argue that EE's prime and Cruz's prime are very similar numbers-wise. The problem is that EE's prime was almost 10 years ago and Cruz is putting up better numbers than he ever did in his 20s and 30s, despite being older than EE.
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
The thing is that he probably wants $15 million a year. I agree that .850 is probably the floor for him in 2021, whereas that was probably the ceiling for EE last year.
-
Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Yeah he's always destroyed us. Even if he declines to a .850 OPS type player, that's better on our team than on the Twins.
