  1. Aren't game checks taxed at where the game is played? Only half of their game checks would get taxed at the rate of their team's state. The rest are all variable.
  2. I got the numbers from FG. BIS apparently has different percentages than Baseball Savant. In 2018, his fastball% went down to 35%. They classified a bunch of his pitches as cutters (20%)
  3. Gray sucked in NY cause they told him not to throw his fastball as much as he used to. Once he got out, he went back to throwing the fastball more and he was way more successful.
  4. The last time he did this it blew up in his face.
  5. That's all they got for Yu? Wow...
  6. I think they still keep Gore unless the Darvish deal is some sort of mega-deal with more than just Darvish going to the Padres.
  7. Morton definitely would have been an ideal get at his price point. But I doubt he wants to play in the midwest given that he wanted to be close to his family in Florida.
  8. He got traded by Arizona cause his teammates hated him. I remember those stories came out back in 2014 and 2015 and most Sox fans just ignored it since Eaton produced and seemed like a nice enough guy. Then the Drake LaRoche thing happened in 2016. A lot of it got blamed on him since he stupidly called a pre-teen a leader on a Major League baseball team. He also got into it with Todd Frazier, who is one of the more well-liked guys in baseball. I think Eaton just rubs people the wrong way. The only plus is that he has to respect someone like TLR and management should have a much better grasp of the clubhouse than in 2016.
  9. I doubt we hand out contracts that large even without COVID.
  10. It's pretty insane how good he has been. You saw him without his slider in game 2 of the WC series against us. He still blew guys away without his secondary pitch and poor fastball command.
  11. This guy had a 4 fWAR season out of the bullpen in 2019 and has had an FIP under 2 the last 2 seasons. I think he'll be a top-end reliever for at least 2 more years. If it's a 3 year deal, the next 2 years will pay for itself.
  12. We don't exactly have a good track record with giving relievers big contracts in free agency. But Hendriks is much better than the likes of Scott Linebrink and David Robertson.
  13. Yeah this. Brantley might be mediocre at best out in left field, but he's not Eloy-level of bad out there.
  14. Lynn also went back to his high school pitching coach, just like Giolito. He talked about tunneling, which is good to hear.
  15. Did he? He said he would have accepted.
  16. If we get Brantley, we probably bring Colome back.
  17. Brantley as a full time DH while Vaughn gets a year in the minors could be the move.
  18. Because Hendriks is much better. Colome is basically a one pitch pitcher. If he doesn't have his cutter, you're basically praying the balls in play find a glove. He was rarely off last season, but that was a shortened season. Colome looked great for the first few months of 2019 but then fell off quite a bit in the 2nd half. Over the course of a longer season, he's bound to have more outings where he just doesn't have it. Hendriks has 3 really good pitches and better stuff in general.
  19. Damn I was hoping he'd be out of the division. He's always a pain to pitch to.
  20. It would be extremely weird for us to give big money to a guy like Hendriks but go dumpster diving for a RFer.
  21. Yeah, Mazara at least still has a little bit of upside left. You know what Eaton's ceiling is and he's probably not that guy anymore.
  22. With the season he had last year, this contract seems about right. Not sure I like it. Joc definitely adds more to the lineup, but Eaton is a safer bet. I'm sure TLR loves him for the clubhouse, but IDK if he fits in with the rest of the core.
  23. It could be that since they played 2/3 of their games in the NL West last year, teams have a much better idea of how to pitch to him.
  24. Yeah that is pretty concerning. He saw a lot less fastballs last year. He struggled against change ups the most last year but that wasn't always the case in his career.
  25. Holy crap, did Jeff Passan just validate Not Steve Cishek?
