Putnam to DL
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 03:55 PM) That's always the problem with Putnam. Just doesn't seem like that elbow will ever hold up. He's great when healthy, but that just doesn't happen. His mechanics are bad. It hurts my arm when I see him pitch.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) Here's what I think If the CLE takes Garrett and San Fran (or whomever) takes Thomas: - Bears take a QB If Cle takes Garrett and San Fran takes Fournette or something silly: - Bears take Thomas - Bears trade into late first and get Mahomes/Kizer. But I think they'll end up with a QB at 3. I can't see the Bears taking a QB at 3. They'll trade down and get Trubisky/Mahomes/Kizer.

Hey guys, remember when Jake Arrieta came out of nowhere, started throwing 96 MPH, and dominating hitters? Hmm, that was head scratching too.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Totally fair points here but I don't post many links to opinion pieces or anything like that, more just my opinions. So I am not sure what you're referring to when you say "what I post" unless you mean my opinions as opposed to links. If I did post any right leaning publication then SS and the left wing guys laugh at the source. If I post a more centrist link athen Caulfield and others will respond with a Vox/Salon link as if it's not as fringe as the Breitbarts of the world. I lose either way. As far as what I underlined in your post, I agree most people see through the MSM, just not on this board. We have people defending the media like it's their job and acting as if there isn't a bias. As if they're not a corporate entity that's entirely bought out for influence. The public's trust in the MSM is almost as bad as their trust in Congress. For instance, CNN has been defended as evenhanded around here. I haven't been watching the MSM today. Is that all everybody is talking about? I can't imagine they're giving all the airtime to the NYT's gaffe. If they are, you're right. If they're not, you're wrong. United dominated the news for days. This just blew up on Twitter. There's no opportunity cost in me posting on a forum. EDIT: Just checked CNN, FOX and MSNBC's websites. Fox and MSNBC don't mention it. It's about the 20th link listed on CNN. So you're wrong. I mean they don't slant as obviously as Fox or MSNBC, so I guess that makes them less biased. But that doesn't mean they don't also have an agenda. There was a good video the other day about how CNN is covering politics like it's sports and paying Trump surrogates so they can have their other experts argue with them and talk about the stupid s*** they say all day. As for the stuff you post, you, Caufield, StrangeSox, DickAllen obviously have some sort of pissing match going on about who can troll each other more. Of course you guys are going to mock each other endlessly regardless of what is posted.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) All the feels when the media f***s up. Wow. Patriots say turnout was the exact same as far as people from the Patriots. Tweet says turnout was less and posts a deceiving picture. Yes, less players. Amendola and Brady specifically had death of a friend/personal issues. NYT has an agenda and they got caught in it. Of course they do. But don't pretend any of the stuff you post doesn't have any either. All media (conservative/liberal) are black/white nowadays. You're not exposing the MSM for what it is when most people on this board can already see through it.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) NYT caught lying about Patriots Trump visit. Patriots expose them. Twitter explodes. https://twitter.com/patriots/status/854858415012806656 I don't think they lied... Picture might have been misleading, but if you read the article, it says less players attended this year (34) vs. 2015 (50). The article also said this... Blame whoever runs NYT's Twitter. The article itself doesn't seem biased.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) Wow I missed that he said that. Nervous that he will meet with Abe and then say that China was once part of Japan. That might actually start WWIII. "Who knew history was so complicated?"

SSS Theater: Avi Garcia
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) Any offensive or defensive stats to back up some of the opinions here? Oh I don't know, maybe the fact that Schwarber has a career OPS well above .800 while Avi's is more than 100 points lower. Both aren't good defenders, but Schwarber's shown that he can hit and hit pretty well. Book is still out on Avi, but he sure as hell isn't anywhere close to Schwarber.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
What was a little bit discouraging in the second half was that the Bulls didn't get as many offensive boards, so it looks like Boston adjusted a bit to getting dominated by Lopez down low. The Bulls shot like absolute garbage in the first half and that kind of corrected itself in the second half as well. We'll see how it goes, but I have a feeling this series probably goes 7.

A lot of the last 30 seconds was bad coaching. Bulls players thought the game was over and were very non-chalant on throw-ins. The Spurs would never do s*** like that.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) It's impressive they've rebounded so well without Taj. Porter and Lopez have been good. This wouldn't be a game if Good Mirotic showed up. Boston's just a short team. It really shows against them.

White Sox Winner!
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Definitely. Like you said, he's been hot before but definitely not THIS hot so that's at least eye opening. Still, I just don't expect it to last. I don't mean to be debbie downer here in the winner thread as it's definitely been fun to watch so far but I just don't expect it to last. Prove me wrong, Avi. I mean he's not gonna hit .450 all year. His GB% is down to 45% and his FB% up to 31. Both career highs for him. Small sample size, but if it's a new approach/swing he's using, then it's working. Coincidentally, he's actually not hitting the ball as hard as previous years. His hard hit ball % is 10% lower than last year. But he's decreased his weak contact.

White Sox Winner!
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) That'd be awesome and I'll say that I highly doubt it's the case. I hope I'm wrong but I expect a fast and hard fall back to earth at some point in the next few weeks. Yeah I think we've seen Avi get hot for periods of 1-2 weeks, but I'm not sure if he's ever been this hot. I'll have to dig deeper into how he's hit so far. If he's lifting the ball more, it's a good turning point. His problem has always been hitting too many grounders.
