2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:13 AM) There is complaining, and there is over exaggerating. Some of his complaints are the most well worded. Comments like "I got to be the only superstar in the league to not get any calls" aren't going to win him any media or fan support. DWade and Bron are masters of ref b****ing and guess what, they go to the FT line a lot.

Or the Bulls can use Rose as a decoy when LBJ is on him, you gotta trust your team mates, Rose doesn't need to do it all himself late in games. It would be nice if Rose could move without the ball, catch a pass and quickly attack the basket from different angles (Wade did this a few times tonight), not just from the top of the key with LBJ squared up on him. What I see right now is ball movement stopping too often when Rose gets the ball, kinda like Melo...need to stop that.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 06:48 AM) What are everyone's thoughts on Boston right now? Celtics match up well with the Heat, they have a clear advantage over them in the PG/C position. Don't know if they can beat Miami but I think they can put a scare on them and take them to a 7th game. The Bulls on the other hand match up well vs Boston.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) But I believe we would know it when someone steps over the line. I do not believe any of the examples you just gave would be worthy a suspension. Now wouldn't you want to suspend a manager who on 9/11 expressed regret that more people were not killed? Who on 12/7/41 cheered Japanese planes? Perhaps someone who believes that Hitler wasn't all wrong or who believes that handicapped infants should be euthenized? I can handle that slippery slope. What if said manager said he believes 9/11 was an inside job?- The Miami Marlins thread

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) Lawl. English skillz. At the risk of sounding like Greg, it's true Ozzie still struggles with the English language but it's understandable, he learned as an adult. When you listen to him in Spanish, it's clear he is no dummy, he's very articulate in his native language, I seen a lot of interviews of his in Spanish and it's a difference of night and day the way he expresses himself, that's why I think it's unfair to goof on him for the way he speaks English. On Chavez, we might find it hard to believe but Chavez is popular with the working class and the poor, the elite don't like him, so it's not very hard to understand why Ozzie would like Chavez, IIRC even Magglio Ordoñez has said he supports HC.- 2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) It would take the ball out of the hands of their two best players for even more time. That woud be a weird fit. Exactly right.- 2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) Heat on the verge of their 16th loss. Thunder at 15, Bulls at 14. Don't forget the Spurs, they are at 15 losses as well... If the Bulls beat Miami tomorrow night, they very well could at the very least almost wrap up the 1 seed in the East.- The Miami Marlins thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 10, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) At least Rush at times has a basis for his opinions and has somewhat of an educational background (though not much). Ozzie is like a homeless man rambling at times. Nah, Rush is an idiot. I know what Ozzie said wasn't the smartest thing to say in Miami, but if he likes Castro or Chavez or the tele tubbies, it's his right to like anyone or anything. Besides, isn't Fidel dead already? Much to do about nothing, IMO.- 2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
Why can't these young athletes enjoy life a little before settling down? Rose gf is a future multi millionaire cougar.- The Miami Marlins thread
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) Ozzie is a big mouth and an idiot for not thinking about the possible repercussions of his statement in Miami, but....deep breath...I agree with what he said and think the reactions are pretty over the top. Yes, Castro has been an oppressive dictator for some time but we helped set the tone for him to come to power. A LOT of the anti-Castro vitriol out of Miami is spewed by bitter dissidents who were robbing Cuba blind for years with the help of an equally oppressive thief of a dictator, Fulgencio Bautista. The Cuban lobby act out of Miami is beyond old. Many of these same folks calling for Guillen's head are the same ones who wanted Elian Gonzalez to remain separated from his father. They were also instrumental in helping Jeb steal the 2000 election for Dubyah. In some ways they are no more in favor of a free democratic society than Castro. They spent 60 years trying to assassinate Castro and strengthened his anti-American resolve in the process. He dodged every bullet along the way and continued to thumb his nose at us across 90 short miles of water. I do not agree with Castro's politics or human rights record, but Ozzie is not out of line to say that his survival in such adversity is worthy of some level of respect. With all of that said, I still wonder how the hell Ozzie could say anything positive about Castro while working for a major Miami sports franchise. Just plain dumb! Great post. Bautista was just as bad as Castro on human rights violations, only difference is that he was "our friend".- Who should Romney choose as VP candidate?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) Rubio is scary, as a DEM, for the future. He'll be hard to stop, if he survives the vetting process, and he will easily turn the 25/75 disadvantage to 75/25 the other way around in terms of driving the Hispanic vote. As far as debaters in my lifetime, that I've seen personally: 1) Mario Cuomo 2) Bill Clinton 3) Jesse Jackson 4) Barack Obama Picking Santorum is insane. Hilary Clinton has the same exact demographic in terms of her appeal, and his presence on the ticket will scare almost every woman in America out to vote. Obama's ego is too big, and so is Biden's, but the perfect countermove to that would be placing Hilary on the ticket as VP. Not really, he might peal away a few but most latinos are Democrats because they are blue collar folks and see the GOP as hostile to minorities.- 2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
