Watching the Rockies Hot Corner
Atkins has been on the hot seat FOREVER. He hasn't been moved once. I'm pretty commited to the belief that they're keeping him for the day that Helton retires.

2010 Offseason Fantasy Lineup Thread
Realistically, I'd like us to Sign Bobby Abreu Trade Jenks for Brandon Wood Trade for Cody Ross and Taylor Tankersley Unrealistically I'd like to see Trade Jordan and John Danks and John Shelby for Prince Fielder Trade Konerko, Fields, McCulloch for Homer Bailey, Chris Heisey, and Alex Smit

Poll: Who is your AL MVP?
Why isn't Ben Zobrist in this poll? I'd argue he's in the discussion for the second most valuable player in the AL.

White Sox Pick up Garcia's and Thornton's Option
No suprise. Just confirmation "The White Sox exercised the option for next year on veteran right-handed pitcher Freddy Garcia. Garcia, 34, will make a $1 million base salary, plus a possible $2 million in incentives. Garcia went 3-4 with a 4.34 ERA in nine starts with the White Sox this season after being called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Aug. 18. He had signed a minor league contract with Chicago after being released by the Mets in April. In his final start of the season, Garcia took a shutout into the eighth inning as the White Sox beat the Tigers 5-1. Garcia began his major league career in 1999 when he went 17-8 with a 4.07 ERA for the Mariners. Since then he has also pitched for the Phillies and Tigers, as well as in an earlier stint with the White Sox. He has a career record of 121-81 with a 4.08 ERA. His best season came in 2001, when he went 18-6 and 3.05. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/base...sox/index.html#

Minor League Catch-All thread 2009 edition
QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 12:05 AM) Somewhat old news, but MLB is making a junior AFL type league. Sounds like it will happen in 2010 if they can finalize the details in time. This year 8 teams have put together an informal version, the White Sox are one. Here is a video explaining the situation. This is because they got rid of Hawaii Ball, correct?

Elias Rankings
I really wonder if we could have an O-Cab type deal. Where we offer Dye ARB, and highly suggest that he not take it.

Dye says "I don't really have a feeling"
Jermaine Dye hasn’t had a good year in the field since 2004. He hasn’t had an “acceptable” fielding year since 2005. He’s really, really bad on D.

Poll: Who is your AL MVP?
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) Since Joe Mauer deserves it, Justin Morneau should win it. You know, historical precedent and all. Nah, it's totally Jason Giambi's to lose.

Fitting Ending to 2009 Season
Ozzie Guillen was 5’11 with no power and a great glove. Nix is 5’11 with a moderate amount of power and a great glove.. Dan Uggla 5’11 Brian Roberts is 5’9 Aaron Hill is 5’11 Dustin Pedroia is 5’9 Brandon Phillips is 5’11 No. Nix is nowhere near as good as these players, but he is of comparable size, and skillset. These guys hits the long ball. I wonder if there’s a certain about of symmetry Ozzie sees in Nix.

Fitting Ending to 2009 Season
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) His 30 HR pace slowed considerably. He can't hit RHP and hit .175 at USCF. I know you love him, but he has some issues. I agree with you. My arguement has never been that Nix is a great player, just that he's better then Chris Getz. The fact is Nix looks like a guy who could hit you 20 or more home runs, and i find it bizzare that Ozzie wants him to play away from an obvious strength.

Fitting Ending to 2009 Season
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) Ozzie was on comcast, some sort of exclusive interview. He expects Dye to be gone and told Lillibridge and Nix they are little guys and if they don't start trying to play like little guys they won't be White Sox for long. Yeah, Ozzie! Damn that Jayson Nix with his 30-bomb pace! You need to play to your limitations, not surpass them! God, Ozzie's a moron isn't he?

The stats also suggest that Niemann followed by Romero were both better then Porcello.

2009 AL Central Thread
Sounds like the Twin came away impressed from 163 Chicago-style. “We’re going to have a packed house,” said Michael Cuddyer. “Maybe we’ll have a whiteout. Chicago last year had a blackout — maybe we’ll have a whiteout in the Dome.”

Will Beckham win AL ROY?
Porcello's core numbers are awful, everything but Wins is mediocre.

Poll: Who is your NL Cy Young?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) Better offense can swing other ways though. Having a better offense can do things like push your ERA up, because you already have a 5 run lead and can afford to give up a run for an out. Yet, he still kicked arse. It can work the other way too. Lincecum and Cain were pitching tight all year.

Poll: Who is your NL Cy Young?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) And yet, for the time he pitched, Carpenter was flat-out better. Better offense, less innings.

Poll: Who is your NL Cy Young?
Lincecum had a better year this year, then he did last year. He's amazing.
