Does anyone know what the consensus player comp on Nix was? I'm hearing some Marcus Giles comparisons, but i'd like to think there's a more similiar player out there.

I reckon that Armstrong is impressing the hell out of the organization right now. And that prior to the AFL they would have never considered cutting ties with Hall. That being said, I think they'll still offer him a contract albeit much lower than his last.

QUOTE (rackemup @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Per Rotoworld Junichi Tazawa-S-Player Oct. 30 - 10:00 am et After asking teams not to select him because he wants to pursue an MLB career, 22-year-old RHP Junichi Tazawa went undrafted in the Japanese amateur draft Thursday. "I'm very relieved," Tazawa said. "I was very nervous right up until the end of the draft." Japanese players must play nine professional seasons before being eligible for free agency and bypassing that route means that Tazawa faces a three-year ban if he returns to Japan after playing elsewhere. However, with reports of a mid-90s fastball and several MLB teams already scouting him Tazawa will likely have no trouble landing a long-term deal. Source: ESPN.com I hear that the kid tops out at 97 with decent control, and some more then passable breaking stuff. He sounds like he'd be a decent investment. That being said, i'm not sure he's low enough on the radar for Kenny to steal him away from the larger market teams.

Ken "The Stoic Figurehead" Macha interest me very little as a manager. That being said the brewers interest me very little as a franshise. So, they're perfect for each other.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) Jamie Burke got one AB in 2005. He has a ring. Yeah, Earl Snyder (former Charlotte Knight Great) played, like, a game for the Bo Sox in 04 and got a ring. Tad will almost certainly get one as well. -

QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) I just realized that baseball is going to be over for five months. Don't worry. We have the weekly Danks2/Beckham show to keep us entertained. All in all, a very dissapointing series neither team played up to the potential, and the weather did little to help. My biggest curiousity emerging from this whole series is what game 5 is going to look like on the Phillies World Series DVD. Will they have an in-game explanation or stoppage for where the suspension occured, or just go with the flow? -

Ideally, this'll be a lesson for MLB/FOX about proper baseball scheduling. Stop pushing the games back as late in the month as possible. It only gets colder. Heck, how about an earlier start time as well? 6:30 sound good to anyone else? -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) What is going on with that 21 year old "next big thing" guy who is trying to avoid the japanese draft and come directly to the MLB? You mean Yu Darvish?

The kid's K to BB ratio and OBP is a bit worrysome, but in the minors his defense has improved every year, and he averages about 13 hrs and 58 RBIS in 130 games with a stolen bases sucess rate of 72%. There's potential for a platoon between him and Getz assuming a better option can't be found.

I hope to see Griffey back soon. In the dugout, on the bench, as the hitting coach.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 02:13 AM) I'll disagree with this 100%. You can be a damn good player without batting average, but batting average CAN make a good player. How can you disagree with me 100% when you just validated one of my claims in your opening sentence?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 12:18 AM) Swisher's batting average was horrific. It was a bad trade. Batting average is a meaningless statistic in the greater scheme of things. Batting Average does not a good player make.

I’m not entire sure that I buy what ESPN is selling (which I rarely do) I can’t see how this is a huge Rays victory (knocking out Hamels) when the Phillies still have the clear advantage in the bullpen. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 27, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) Rays tie it up = best possible scenario, at the perfect time where the field finally became truly unplayable. God, could you imagine if they had had to call the game? Last case scenario certainly, but the controversy would be unparalled. -

That kid is going to be completley bizarre. Hopefully, he gets a normal name, and doesn't have to fight adversity from day one.
